  • The nerve impulse is induced by the stimulation of neuron or axon, and this stimulated voltage decays along the propagation distance and time if it is subtreshold potential. This behavior can be estimated using the electrical equivalent circuit because it is very similar to propagation phenomenon of electrical circuit to which Ohm's law is applied. Therefore, I calculated various biometric parameters of body, and then analyzed the propagation behavior of stimulated potential voltage using the distributed parameters of electrical circuit in this paper.

  • This paper describes the development of potential detection system in 22.9kV gas insulated switchgear. This system composed with main system and LPS can detect the source voltage by capacitive potential division which is accomplished by inserting signal electrode between main electrode and earthed metal enclosure of the switchgear. The appropriate position of signal electrode is achieved by numerical analysis using finite element method. The developed potential detection system is verified by several tests such as voltage test, swc test and others and by applicaion at site. From the results, it is concluded that potential detection system is very reliable and available to operate the switchgear safely.

  • In this paper, the effects of the positions of the current probe on the measurements of the ground resistanc, and potential gradients with fall-of-potential method are described, and the testing techniques to minimize the measuring errors are proposed. The fall-of-potential method is theoretically based on the potential and current measuring principle and the measuring error is primarily caused by the position of the measuring auxiliary probes. The ground resistance is calculated by applying the 61.8% lute using fall-of-potential method.

  • The transmission phenomenon of neuron action potential due to exterior stimulation is somewhat identical to electrical reaction configuration. Therefore, I tried to analyze the transmission status of membrane excitation, by introducing electrical concept to this issue in this paper. First of all, I researched the complex electrical status of axon, and then simplified the electrical circuit into pure resistance circuit under the assumption that it was reasonable in practice. And I derived the transmission status of exciting action potential through the simplified circuits using electical theory and mathematical concept. I calculated overshoot potential of a certain portion and then confirmed that it excited neighbor portion and made it to be transmitted using the proposed data which was typical in point of biological and electrical view to verify this result.

  • Lightning and switching surges propagating through the grounding conductors lead to transient overvoltages, and electronic circuits in information technology systems are very susceptible to damage or malfunction from the electrical surges. Surge damages or malfunctions of electrical and electronic equipment may be caused by potential rises. To solve these problems, it is very important to evaluate the ground surface potential rises and hazardous voltages such as touch and step voltages at or near the grounding systems energized by electrical surges. In this paper, the performance of grounding systems against the surge current containing high frequency components on the basis of the actual-sized tests is presented. The ground surface potential rises and hazardous voltages depending on impulse currents for vertical or horizontal grounding electrodes are measured and analyzed. Also the touch and step voltages caused by the impulse currents are investigated. As a result, the ground surface potential rises, the touch and step voltages near the grounding electrodes are raised and the conventional grounding impedances are increased as the front time of the injected impulse currents is getting faster.

  • This paper deals with an approach to the reduction of potential rise according to the buried depth of structure. In order to analyze the surface potential rise of structure, an electrolytic tank which simulates the semi-infinite earth has been used. The potential rise has been measured and analyzed for types of structure using an electrolytic tank experimental apparatus in real time. The structure models were designed through reducing real buildings and fabricated with two types on a scale of one-one hundred sixty When a test current flowed through structure models, the potential rise of outline frame type(structure model A) was more high than that of electric cage type(structure model B). The distributions of surface potential rise are dependent on the buried depth of structure model.

  • This paper deals with ground potential rise of structure grounding electrode when a test current flows through grounding electrode. In order to analyze the potential gradient of ground surface on structure grounding electrode, the reduced scale model has been used. The structures were designed through reducing real buildings and fabricated with four types on a scale of one-one hundred sixty. The supporter was made to put up with weight of structure and could move into vertical, horizontal, rotary direction. When a test current flowed through structure grounding electrodes, ground potential rise was the lowest value at electric cage type(type B). According to resistivity and absorption percentage in concrete attached to structure, the potential distribution of ground surface appeared differently.

  • This paper presents the potential interferences between various grounding electrodes. The ground potential rise and potential interference coefficient between grounding grid and ground rod were calculated. The potential rise and potential interference coefficient strongly depend on the distance between grounding electrodes.

  • Switched-inductor (SL) Z-source three-level inverter is a novel high power topology. The SL based impedance network can boost the input dc voltage to a higher value than the single LC impedance network. However, as all the neutral-point-clamped (NPC) inverters, the SL Z-source three-level inverter has to balance the neutral-point (NP) potential too. The principle of the inverter is introduced and then the effects of NP potential unbalance are analyzed. A NP balancing method is proposed. Other than the methods for conventional NPC inverter without Z-source impedance network, the upper and lower shoot-through durations are corrected by the feedforward compensation factors. With the proposed method, the NP potential is balanced and the voltage boosting ability of the Z-source network is not affected obviously. Simulations are conducted to verify the proposed method.

  • This paper analyzed the magnetic field produced by the cylindrical stator coils of permanent magnet spherical motor (PMSM). The elliptic equations about the vector magnetic potential were given. Given that the eddy current effects are neglected, the magnet field of the PMSM is regarded as irrotational field, which can be calculated by scalar magnetic potential. The current density of cylindrical stator coil was proposed based on the definition of current density. The expression of current density of stator coil was obtained according to the double Fourier series decomposition and spherical harmonic functions. Then the magnetic flux density for scalar magnetic potential was derived. Further, the influence of different parameters on radial flux density was also analyzed. Finally, the results by the analytical method in this paper were validated by finite element analysis (FEA).
