Analysis of Insulation Breakdown Cause in 13.8 kV XLPE Cable (13.8 kV XLPE 케이블의 절연파괴 원인 분석)

  • 내연 발전기(50 MW, 13.8 kV) 출력단자에서 차단기까지 연결된 13.8 kV XLPE(cross-linked polyethylene) 케이블에서 운전중에 절연파괴로 인해 지락이 발생하였다. XLPE 케이블의 건전성을 확인하기 위해 절연저항과 절연진단 시험을 수행하였다. 교류전압을 1~10 kV까지 증가하면서 XLPE 케이블의 유전정접 측정결과 A상과 C상은 0.1%로 일정하게 측정되었다. 반면에 B상의 유전정접은 1 kV에서 0.54%, 2 kV에서 0.68%, 3 kV에서 0.82%, 4 kV에서 1.12%로 증가하였다. 그리고 교류전압을 약 4.3 kV 인가 중에 진단장비가 차단되었다.

  • In this paper, insulating varnish has been used for field magnet and armature impregnated insulating material of electric locomotive and traction motor. When it was duplicated coating, it could be accuse internal void, and which could change electrical characteristics. We used to boundary elemental method of simulation tool, and improved optimal insulating design of insulating varnish according to measuring electric distribution in void of specimen.

  • This study is to develope a spacer having almost uniform field distribution along the profile by controlling the high electric field in tensification at earthed part, especially triple junction in the spacer-electrode-gas boundary interface. Based on the extensive field calculation using CSM, a model spacer has been manufactured and tested. The test results show that the breakdown strength of the spacer is almost same as that of SF6 gas itself without spacer.

  • This paper presents a high speed ethernet communication and depulication method of communication to prevent decrease of reliability that was generated by high speed communication. Thus communication reliability was improved and this paper was considered that if any physical breakdown of line of communication occurred, other line of communication could operate collect. This paper used Flash memory for setting storage of backup data at Electric Car that have an humidity and a temperature and an impact. also improved reliability and besides matching data format to windows data format realized to confirm application program at PC or note book computer.

  • In the feeding system of electric railways it is necessary to divide the power lines for either ac or dc system. At this dead section, the system is damaged by the abrupt change of the coming-in power. This paper present the relationships. Between the feeding system and the trail-cars, and the counter plans to reduce the electrical arc and the breakdown at the dead section.

  • $SF_6$ gas has been widely used the gas insulated transmission line, gas insulated transformer and gas insulated substation and Polyester film used as the turn insulation with other material. $SF_6$ gas has been actively studied in domestic and foreign countries. In general, when dielectric surface electric field exceed any electric field strength on air, corona discharge is occurred from the dielectric surface. This paper presents the insulation strength of turn insulation of $SF_6$-PET film studied under application of AC voltage, constitute of the plane to plane with PET Film. The results obtained in experimental are summarized that Partial Discharge Initial Voltage(PDIV) of turn insulation depend on gas pressure, but Breakdown Voltage(BDV) did not depend on gas pressure.

  • Gas Insulated Switchgear(GIS) acts as an indispensible part in power transmission network. In order that GIS may have its high reliability, it is necessary to pay careful attention to its whole process e.g., designing, manufacturing, installation, and operation. The main hazard in GIS comes from free conducting particles, which can move and cause breakdown under the influence of the electric field. Although the concentration on protecting the GIS inner part against the free conducting particles is made, it is, actually, almost impossible to avoid the hazard from the particles throughly. In this paper, using the EHV test chamber, partial discharge quantity in GIS was measured when free conducting particles initiate to discharge for providing fundamental data for the purpose of developing predictive diagnosis technology on site GIS.

  • In this work, simultaneous measurement such as change distribution and electrical conduction of maleic anhydride grafted XLPE was investigated. Heterocharge was found in XLPE and it decreased with increasing MAR graft ratio in XLPE-g-MAH. Conduction currents also decreased with increasing MAR graft ratio. The relationship between the space change behavior and the electrical conduction characteristics in XLPE-g-MAH is discussed.

  • To prevent any accident in electric power utilities, many researches for inspection and diagnosis deteriorations occurring by corona discharges have been continuously studying. Inspection and diagnosis of electric power utility is very important to prevent an accident. This paper studies a measurement of ultra-violet(UV) ray of corona discharges on polymer insulators using an UV sensor array with an optic lens. The detection of an UV signal begins at 60kV, which is about 37.5% of the breakdown voltage of the polymer insulator and the stronger the high voltage increased to the polymer insulator was. It can be determined that the polymer insulator mounted on a live part must be examined when the discharge risk exceeds approximately 40%. In conclusion, the status of power utilities can be checked using an UV sensor.

  • In this paper, we studied electric Insulation characteristics of synthetic Laminated Polypropylene Paper (LPP) in liquid nitrogen (L$N_2$) for the application to high temperature super-conducting (HTS) cable. And, we selected the insulation paper/L$N_2$composite insulation type for the electric insulation design of a HTS cable. Furthermore, we compared the breakdown characteristics of the butt gap and bended mini-model cable that comes into being in this kind of cryogenic insulation type. It is necessary to understand the winding parameter of insulation paper/L$N_2$composite insulation.
