  • In general, manufacturing error originated in bad material, machine tool defection, tool defection, and tool breakage. When the manufacturing process is stable, the error is come from the tool wear. In common on-machine measurement, teaching probe and touch sensor are widely used, however in this thesis the automatic tool compensation system using electric touch point measuring system is developed and evaluated, and effective operating is proposed.

  • In general, manufacturing error is originated from bad material, machine tool defection and tool breakage. When the manufacturing process is stable, the most of error come from the tool wear. In common on-machine measurement teaching probe and touch sensor are widely used however in this paper the electric touch point type automatic tool compensation system is developed the performance of it is validated and effective operating is proposed.

  • A tool holder system has been designed to measure cutting forces in diamond turning. This system includes a 3-component piezo-electric tranducer. In this research, tool holder system is modeled by considering the element dividing, material properties, and boundary conditions using MSC/PATRAN. Mode and frequency analysis of structure is simulated by MSC/NASTRAN, for the purpose of developing the effective design. In addition, tool holder system is verified by vibration test using accelerometer. This system will aid to the development of Fast Tool Servo (FTS)

  • In this work, tool holder system has been designed and builted to measure cutting forces in diamond turning. This system design includes a 3-component piezo-electric tranducer. Initial experiments with tool holder system included verification of its predicted dynamic characteristics as well as a detailed study of cutting parameters. Tool holder system is modeled by considering the element dividing, material properties, and boundary conditions using MSC/PATRAN. Mode and frequency analysis of structure is simulated by MSC/NASTRAN, for the purpose of developing the effective design. Many cutting experiments have been conducted on 6061-T6 aluminum. Tests have involved investigation of velocity effects, and the effects of depth and feedrate on tool force. Forces generally increase with increasing depth of cut. Increasing feedrate does not necessarily lead to higher forces.

Cutting velocity has been determined to have negligible effects between 4 and 21㎧.(6) Forces generally increase with increasing depth of cut. Increasing feedrate does not necessarily lead to higher forces. Results suggest that a sample model may not be sufficient to describe the forces produced in the diamond turning process.

  • We use a compound-cam twin arm structure and random tool access method to achieve a faster ATC (Automatic Tool Changer) system for the accurate position and rotation control of a tool magazine and an exchange am. Based on the data obtained from various sensors, it is possible to follow the sequence of commands in each control step for an exchange arm. However, it is not so easy to reduce the exchange time of the system because of the slow responses of the sensors and execution mode delays of PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) scan time. In this paper, we propose a new programmed limit-switch position control method to obtain the shortest possible delays for the random tool access method and compound-cam twin arm structure. With some experimental results, we have achieved below 0.9sec tool exchange time with the proposed method.

  • This paper presents the network of Distributed Control System(DCS) considering specification of nuclear power plant. The network is composed of field network, control network and information network. The protocol of control network is ring type and it is compared to ethernet type. This paper proposes the structure of DCS, the protocol of each network and analyzes the network traffic along data capacity of field network, control network, information network and the network performance. Network II.5 is used as traffic simulation tool.

  • A power tool is a tool used to manufacture and process various structures using a motor that is a power source. Using a motor that uses electricity as a power source, a reduction device, power transmission and conversion device functions are built-in to make the tool rotate, reciprocate, and vibrate. It is a work tool designed to assist the user's movement skills. In the case of Korea, the power tool industry has a short history and is lagging behind advanced countries such as Germany, the United States, and Japan in terms of technology level, market share, and recognition. In addition, electric drivers used in Korea are foreign products from the US and European countries, and the domestic market also prefers 100% foreign companies, and multinational companies are investing a lot in the domestic market. Therefore, technological development must follow in order to develop domestic technology and secure a consistently high market share. The purpose of this thesis is to design a motor driver with high output performance of motor performance, miniaturization, and high speed in accordance with the basic performance requirements of power tools, and finally research developments that can be applied to industrial and medical applications.

  • The performance prediction software developed in this paper is a process analysis tool that enables one to foretell the behavior of processes when certain conditions of operation are altered. The immediate objective of this research is to predict the process characteristics of combined heat and power plant under varying operating conditions. A cogeneration virtual power plant that mimics the mechanical performance of the actual plant was constructed and the performance of the power plant was predicted in the following varying atmospheric conditions: temperature, pressure and humidity. This resulted in a positive outcome where the performance of the power plant under changing conditions were correctly predicted as well as the calorific value of low calorific gas fuel such as shale gas and PNG. The performance prediction tool can detect the operation characteristics of the power plant through the performance index analysis and thus propose the operation method taking into consideration the changes in environmental conditions.
