  • Most of air pollution in a metropolis is the result of exhaust gas emissions from automotive vehicles, and the world-wide regulation against environmental pollution is becoming more strict. Moreover the demand on development and supply of an environment-friendly automobile is increasing and the market share about that is expected to grow rapidly in this time of high oil price. The secondary batteries the most important component to store the electrical energy in hybrid electric vehicle. It needs to the higher power characteristics to emit the energy instantaneous. In this paper, we proposed the system to monitor reliably the charge and discharge states of the secondary batteries for hybrid electric vehicle. The material is about SW and HW module the software and hardware module mounted on the charge and discharge system and the monitoring system to control the charge and discharge performance effectively.

  • Technology to optimize and utilize the use and supply of the electric power between consumer and supplier has been on the rise among the smart grid power market network in electric power demand management based on the Internet. Open Automated Demand Response system protocol, which can deliver Demand Response needed in electric power demand management to electricity supplier, system supplier and even the user is openADR 2.0b. This paper used the most credible, cosmopolitanly proliferated EPRI open source and analysed the variety of security vulnerability that developed VEN and VTN system may have. Using the simulator for attacking openADR protocol, the VEN/VTN system that has been implemented as EPRI open source was conducted to attack in a variety of ways. As a result of the analysis, we were able to get the results that the VEN/VTN system has security vulnerabilities to the parameter tampering attacks and service flow falsification attack. In conclusion, if you want to implement the openADR2.0b protocol system in the open or two-way communication environment smart grid network, considering a variety of security vulnerability should be sure to seek security technology and services.

  • Europe and North America are paying attention to residential ESS(Energy Storage System) that can manage energy efficiently. The ESS is a system that stores and manages the electric power by charging and discharging the battery. The ESS is generally used in conjunction with photovoltaic systems. The ESS supplies the load of the power generation time and stores the remaining PV power to supply the load at the non-power generation time. However, due to the high price of residential ESS, low electric rates and increasing block rates, there is no market of residential ESS in Korea. This paper reviews the price condition and the capacity for applying PV and residential ESS to household of apartments using HOMER in Korea.

  • Total Transfer Capability (TTC) should be pre-determined in order to estimate Available Transfer Capability (ATC). Typically, TTC is determined by considering three categories; voltage, stability and thermal limits. Among these, thermal limits are treated mainly in this paper on the evaluation of TTC due to the relatively short transmission line length of Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO) system. This paper presents a new approach to evaluate the TTC using the Dynamic Line Rating (DLR) for the thermal limit. Since the approach includes not only traditional electrical constraints but also real-time environmental constraints, this paper obtains more cost-effective and exact results. A case study using KEPCO system confirms that the proposed method is useful for real-time operation and the planning of the electricity market.

  • 현행 약관은 '89년도 약관제정이후 수십 차례 부분개정만이 이루어져 문맥정비, 고객이 이해하기 쉽도록 용어순화, 의미 명확화, 약관의 불공정성 및 불합리한 규정을 개선할 필요가 있는바, 민법, 약관 규제법 등 관련 법률에 기초한 공정하고, 고객과의 권리의무관계 및 법률관계가 명확한 약관을 만들고자, 용어와 표현을 통일 및 변경하였으며, 장 절 및 조문 표제의 변경, 조문과 약관의 체계화 및 전기실무의 반영과 개선을 하였다. 그리고 개정사항중 쟁점사항에 대한 검토를 심도 있게 하였으며, 약관을 주제별로 구분 통합 및 체계화를 하였다. 이는 향후 전기공급약관의 개정 기초 자료로 활용할 예정이다.

  • The aim of this paper is to provide a new model to evaluate the quantitative value of technology(nonfinancial benefits). This new model is based on the technology stock(technology level) ac-quired in R&D process. The model can explain the quantitative relation between the technology stock(level) and the market value of technology as considering the R&D expenditure to acquire technologies above a certain level(>70%) in comparison with the advanced country and the cost to prevent the technology obsolescence. The value of non-destructive testing technology which is one of the electric power technology is measured quantitatively as a case study.

  • According to NERC definition, Available Transfer Capability (ATC) is a measure of the transfer capability remaining in the physical transmission network for the future commercial activity To calculate ATC, accurate and defensible TTC, CBM and TRM should be calculated in advance. This paper proposes a method to quantify time varying ATC based on probabilistic approach. The uncertainties of power system and market are considered as complex random variables. TRM with the desired probabilistic margin is calculated based on PLF analysis, and CBM is evaluated using LOLE of the system. Suggested ATC quantification method is verified using IEEE RTS with 72 bus. The proposed method shows efficiency and flexibility for the quantification of ATC.

  • Motor-driven systems are the largest electrical load and share about 40% of electric energy consumption in Korea. Increasing the efficiency of drive-power systems, therefore, is one of the most urgent demand side programs to be designed and launched. This paper presents an extensive analysis on the alternative rebate programs viable to enhancing the adoption of high-efficiency induction motors, and suggests government activities supporting market transformation initiatives.

  • This paper presents the survey results of the interruption on domestic customer, especially commercial, with primary focus on the cost are presented. General method utilized in quantifying the benefit of reliability on power system is to estimate the Customer Interruption Cost(CIC) associated with the electric service interruption. According to change the circumstance of electricity market by the deregulation and the introduction of new technology, reliable and accurate CIC is required for estimate the applied plan and technology under the circumstance. This paper presents the commercial customer interruption cost is estimated by the survey conducted by KEPCO in 2009. To collect the customer interruption data for calculation of CIC, the survey is conducted. The survey targeting commercial customer around the branch-offices under twelve regional headquarters of KEPCO was carried out.
