Arc-furnace facilities consume 9,895,165(MWh) which is about 69.6 Percent of electronic furnace power consumption. and interior of a country demand power have inclosed annual. but becaused of the problem of cost, power plant location, and environment have faced difficulty to electric power supply. In this paper, Examining Load cutting of Arc-furnace that is dominating high weight of industry electric power use. and it is expected to solve easily electric power supply and demand problem by highest Priority load cutting examination of Arc-furnace when electric power supply and demand problem happens to area electric power system when is urgent.
KEPCO has developed Transmission & Substation Geographic Information System(TGIS) since 2000. TGIS is the system for the management of transmission and substation facilities on the geographic basis. This paper provides a brief introduction to TGIS.
Power supply system & environment have been changed according to the universal global electrification, the pursuit of improving productivity and the convenience of life. The various kinds of modem electric facilities and almost of all kinds of digital devices embedded microprocessor are very sensitive to the supplied power quality variations. So, they are stopped and result in large economic damage when even the deterioration of power quality with short duration is occurred, which was not so fatal to the conventional industrial facilities and devices. Conversely, those facilities and digital devices generate many kinds of power quality problems such as harmonic.;, flicker, voltage drop, etc. This paper presents the status of power quality and outlines the development of a new power quality monitoring system based on the experience of a series of authors' researches and field measurements for industrial customers in Korea. It also proposes the functions of the monitoring device and the efficient analysis method based on the Korean electrical act and international standards on power quality. Finally, the authors suggest some countermeasures for advancing the power quality to cope with the competitive electric power market and customers' needs after domestic restructuring of electric power industry.
PURPOSES : An conventional method for electric power generation is converting thermal energy into mechanical energy then to electrical energy. Due to environmental issues such as global warming related with $CO_2$ emission etc., were the limiting factor for the energy resources which resulting in extensive research and novel technologies are required to generate electric power. Thermal energy harvesting using thermoelectric generator is one of energy harvesting technologies due to diverse advantages for new green technology. This paper presents a possibility of application of the thermoelectric generator's application in the direct exchange of waste solar energy into electrical power in road space. METHODS : To measure generated electric power of the thermoelectric generator, data logger was adopted as function of experimental factors such as using cooling sink, connection methods etc. Also, the thermoelectric generator、s behavior at low ambient temperature was investigated as measurement of output voltage vs. elapsed times. RESULTS : A few temperature difference between top an bottom of the thermoelectric generator is generated electric voltage. Components of an electrical circuit can be connected in various ways. The two simplest of these are called series and parallel and occur so open. Series shows slightly better performance in this study. An installation of cooling sink in the thermoelectric generator system was enhanced the output of power voltage. CONCLUSIONS : In this paper, a basic concepts of thermoelectric power generation is presented and applications of the thermoelectric generator to waste solar energy in road is estimated for green energy harvesting technology. The possibility of usage of thermoelectric technology for road facilities was found under the ambient thermal gradient between two surfaces of the thermoelectric module. An experiment results provide a testimony of the feasibility of the proposed environmental energy harvesting technology on the road facilities.
The commercial contract was made firstly in the world for one set of high temperature superconducting(HTS) cable system between buyer, Korea Electric Power Research Institute and seller, Sumitomo Electric Industries, Ltd. in August 2004. After fabrication, test and examination, the HTS cable system will be installed at the KEPRI's test field in Gochang, Jeonbuk province from the time of July 2005. KEPRI is preparing measurement and test facilities for field test of the HTS cable system and carrying out researches into the design and construction of superconducting cable test building, evaluation of cooling performance, measurement of AC loss, analysis of the quench phenomena due to excess current and means of linking the HTS cable system to the existing electric power supplying system. The constitution of, the method to install and the plan of test operation of the HTS cable system will be presented in this paper.
This research is to analyze LCC of Heat Pump system in university building by reduction of electric power costs for education and incentive system for gas. Produced details item different expense of EHP and GHP equipment construction step and preservation administration step. Analysis result is as following. 1) Executed LCC analysis for target system after lowering whole curriculum reduction of electric power costs for education. Analysis result, energy cost-cutting effect of EHP appears greatly than GHP unlike existent study finding, EHP decided by economical system. 2) Sensitivity analysis executed by incentive 500,000 won per units and geometrical ration of gas expense by 1%. As a result, because lowering effect of electric charges appears greatly, EHP decided by more economical system than GHP. As research result of front is different from existent study finding, EHP by lowering of electric charges for alteration and education of governmental frequent volunteer system was decided by more economical system than GHP.
Electrical energy is playing an increasingly vital role as the primary energy source in everyday life. With the increase in electric power consumption, power facilities are under an increasing stress and must operate at a high capacity. Consequently, the demand for electric power cables in power transmission and distribution lines is rapidly increasing. Underground distribution lines have been steadily replacing the aboveground lines owing to the increase in electric power demand and the need to increase the supply voltage. In addition to line damage, worker safety is of primary concern in this type of underground infrastructure. In this study, to improve the safety of workers dealing with underground transmission lines, we analyzed the electromagnetic field generated around the distribution line and determined the basic criteria for developing a device that can detect a live underground line.
AMR(Automated Meter Reading) has been considered to solve the lack of meter mem caused by the rise of cost, inefficiency of manual meter reading. Demand forecasting and efficient management of facilities can be accomplished by increasing meter reading efficiency and correcting various data. In this paper, we introduce AMR system using LV PLC in KANG-DONG blanch office of KEPCO.
This study for middle school facilities is second following the study of the energy consumption of primary school facilities. There is not on the analysis of the current energy usage for middle school facilities in nations to set goals of energy reduction. Therefore, The purpose of this study is to present various analysis result of energy consumption which is a statistical analysis of domestic middle school facilities in South Korea. As a consequence, each average energy consumption at the domestic middle school facilities analyzed as following after changing as unit 'kWh' only for comparison with every energy source. It represents that the energy consumption of electric power was 183.7MWh(70.2%), gas consumption for heating was 46.5MWh(17.8%), oil consumption was 26.5MWh(10.1%), district energy was 5.1MWh(1.9%). This result describes that consumption of electric power was large greatly and it reflects the expectation that it will climb the demand regarding this energy in the future. In additionally, it analyzed average energy consumption with $74.4kWh/m^2$ by the unit area of air-conditioning and the district which has large energy consumption was Seoul with $91.6kWh/m^2$.
