Position Controller for Clutch Drive System of PHEV(Plug in Hybrid Electric Vehicle) (PHEV(Plug in Hybrid Electric Vehicle)의 클러치 구동 시스템을 위한 BLDC 모터의 위치제어기)

  • Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle is driven by the engine, the primary traction motor, and the secondary auxiliary motor generating the electric power for battery charging. Secondary auxiliary motor should be connected to the engine or separated from the engine by the clutch system. This paper presents the position controller of the BLDC motor for the clutch system of Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle. The BLDC motor can be applied to the clutch system in spite of it's low accuracy of the position control due to high gear ratio between the clutch and the motor. Since the attachment and the detachment between the motor and the engine should be carried out within 0.3 seconds, the position controller with fast acceleration and deceleration is implemented. For the torque control with braking operation for the BLDC motor, the modified bipolar PWM method with low current ripple compared to the conventional unipolar PWM is presented. The position control performance of the BLDC motor for the clutch system is verified through the simulation and experiments.

A Study on Daily Cooling Load Forecast Using Fuzzy Logic (퍼지 논리를 이용한 일일 냉방부하 예측에 관한 연구)

  • The electric power load during the peak time in summer is strongly affected by cooling load, which decreases the preparation ratio of electricity and brings about the failure in the supply of electricity in the electric power system. The ice-storage system and heat pump system are possible solutions to settle this problem. In this study. the method of estimating temperature and humidity to forecast the cooling load of ice-storage system is suggested, then the method of forecasting the cooling load using fuzzy logic is suggested by simulating that the cooling load is calculated using actual temperature and humidity. The forecast of the temperature, humidity and cooling load are simulated, and it is shown that the forecasted data approach to the actual data. Operating the ice-storage system by the forecast of cooling load with night electric power will improve the ice-storage system efficiency and reduce the peak electric power load during the summer season as a result.

  • This paper presents the power control for the hybrid electric propulsion system. In this paper, the hybrid propulsion system consists cf the generator and battery as power supply system in ship. The hybrid control system is designed with energy saving algorithm for decreasing the power consumption of power supply system. This paper suggests the method to increase efficiency of hybrid electric propulsion system by developing battery charging system. The performance of power control system is analyzed with the experiment equipment for hybrid propulsion system, and the results showed a good property.

  • In this paper, we propose a method of cooperative control (T-cell modeling) and selection of group behavior strategy (B-cell modeling) based on immune system in distributed autonomous robotic system (DARS). An immune system is the living bodys self-protection and self-maintenance system. these features can be applied to decision making of the optimal swarm behavior in a dynamically changing environment. For applying immune system to DARS, a robot is regarded as a B-cell, each environmental condition as an antigen, a behavior strategy as an antibody, and control parameter as a T-cell, respectively. When the environmental condition (antigen) changes, a robot selects an appropriate behavior strategy (antibody). And its behavior strategy is stimulated and suppressed by other robots using communication (immune network). Finally, much stimulated strategy is adopted as a swarm behavior strategy. This control scheme is based on clonal selection and immune network hypothesis, and it is used for decision making of the optimal swarm strategy. Adaptation ability of the robot is enhanced by adding T-cell model as a control parameter in dynamic environments.

  • DOB (Disturbance Observer) is an useful control method for estimating the disturbance applied to dynamic systems. Disturbance observer can be used to implement a robust control system to generate a control input for rejecting the disturbance, and it can be also used to estimate the disturbance to obtain information. The system that uses disturbance estimation is investigated for high performance control such as automatic door systems, walking robot and electric power steering system in vehicles. In this paper, a novel disturbance observer which is called disturbance and current observer for estimating load torque in the motor system is proposed. The difference between the DOB for disturbance rejection and DCOB is mathematically verified. Current and angular velocity are required for estimating the load torque of the motor in DOB. However, the DCOB can estimate load torque and current without current sensor. DCOB is designed based on modeling of the motor system. Appropriate Q-filter is selected and the applicability of DCOB is verified by simulation. The estimated disturbance and current of the electric motor can be verified without current sensor, as experiments of the actual motor system.

  • This paper proposes MPPT control considering temperature characteristic of PV module. Conventional CV(Constant Voltage) and PO(Perturbation and Observation) methods have the weak problem about the insolation and temperature change. Thus, in this paper, in order to improve this problem, the optimal voltage and current is determined and the MPPT control is performed. MPPT algorithm proposed in this paper analyze the performance about insolation and temperature change and proves the validity.

  • To provide a specified power quality under electric market system is becoming an important issue for customers and utility company. However, there is no realistic infra-structure to design a power system for the specified power quality. Present electric market is operating under the economic point of view. The low price could be attractive. but the effect of low price and low power quality for the long time should be considered for the system safety. This paper presents a model which conceptualize the dynamic power quality control mechanism to minimize total cost of a society which is affected electric power quality. This model aims to produce a basic infra-structure to balance cost and quality under the electric market system.

  • The load of electric railroad can generate voltage fluctuation in the electric railway system because of high speed of the electric railroad and frequent movement and stop. This voltage fluctuation of electric railway system can cause not only voltage imbalance but also harmonic in the utility grid. Therefore the electric railroad system is in need of the reactive power compensation, such as static synchronous compensator (STATCOM) and static var compensator (SVC). Especially, the battery energy storage system (BESS) can control the real and reactive power at the same time. In this paper, the electric railway system using BESS has been modeled to show its voltage compensation effect using Matlab/Simulink.

  • In this paper, An expert system for electric furnace with time delay is proposed. The expert system uses Fuzzy control theory. The conventional controller uses Auto-Tuning control theory. From experiment, we can obtain that the response of expert system is superior to the response of the conventional controller. In this experiment, the expert controller is implemented with the IBM PC. The 8751 One chip processor controling the electric furnace is used.

  • In this paper, Hybrid Electric Vehicle is directly designed and manufactured for base study of HEV's system and Green Car. Foundation design consists of power train design and the frame design. The power train concept includes motor, engine, generator and battery. And the concept of the frame is the single-seat of this self-made HEV. A frame installed in hybrid system contains suspension, steering wheel, seat, accelerating pedal, brake pedal, clutch handle and various chassis parts with bearings. Electromagnetic clutch is equipped to transmit engine power to drive axle. The control algorism make using LabVIEW to control of an engine and a motor depending on drive condition. A parallel type hybrid system is manufactured to control operation of a motor and an engine depending on vehicle speed.
