The present study evaluated the mechanical properties of open graded asphalt for semi-rigid pavements in order to determine the mixing proportion experimentally. A total twelve types of basic mixing proportions were set up and mechanical tests such as marshall stability, porosity, permeability, and cantabro loss were conducted based on Korean standards. From the tests results, it was found that the marshall stability in case of straight and modified asphalt increase up to the contents with 5.0% and 5.5% respectively. The porosity and permeability of asphalt tended to decrease as the asphalt contents increase, the coefficient of correlation between both were estimated 86%. The increase contents with asphalt range from 3.5% to 6.0% tended to decrease the cantabro loss and the modified asphalt enhanced the resistance of cantabro loss with range from 18.8% to 33.1% than straight asphalt under same asphalt contents. In comparison with test results and quality standards, it was concluded that the modified asphalt content of 4.5% is effective to adopt for open graded asphalt.
Experimental studies were done to research the effects of the Ursi fel and the UDCA on the anti-allergic effects. The results were obtained as follows: 1) In the experimental effects of the Ursi fel and the UDCA on the vascular permeability responses to intradermal Serotonin, though both of the Ursi fel and UDCA revealed the significant effect, the Ursi fel had stronger effect than the UDCA. 2) In the provocative effects of the Ursi fel and the UDCA on the vascular permeability responses to intradermal Histamin, though both of the Ursi powfel and UDCA showed the significant effect, the Ursi fel had moreerful effect than the UDCA. 3) In the 48 hours homologous passive cutaneous anaphylaxis provoked by the IgE-like antibody against white egg albumin, though both of the Ursi fel and UDCA revealed significant effect, the Ursi fel had stronger effect than the UDCA. 4) In the delayed type hypersensitivity response to Picryl Chlorede, though both of the Ursi fel and UDCA were proved to be effective significantly the Ursi fel showed stronger effect. 5) In the delayed type hypersensitivity responses to Sheep red blood cell, the Ursi fel revealed the significant effect, though the UDCA has no significant effect. According to above results, the Ursi fel was approved it could be used widely as antiallergic drug for immediate and delayed type allergic diseases. Although the UDCA revealed efficacy in immediated type allergic diseases, it had less powerful effects than the Ursi fel and it showed no effects in some experiment of delayed type allergy, so it would be difficult to be used clinically.
Permalloy thin films fabricated by rf magnetron sputtering showed the excellent magnetic properties, i.e., an effective permeability of over 2000 at 1$\mu\textrm{m}$ thick up to 10 MHz, a saturation magnetization of 10∼12 kG, a coercive force of 0.2∼1 Oe, resistivity (p) is 20 ${\mu}$$\Omega$cm. In order to control the magnetic anisotropy direction of the films in a wafer scale, two parallel Nd-Fe-B permenant mangnets were used to provide the magnetic field during the sputtering process. As a result, the anisotropy direction was successfully controlled when the two magnets were seperated with a distance of 70 mm. 3D simmulation of the magnteic fields around the wafer during sputtering were in accord with the above result.

A novel retinol derivative, polyethoxylated retinamide(Medimin A) was synthesized, as an anti-aging agent. Collagen synthesis, skin permeation, stability, and toxicity of Medimin A were evaluated and compared with those of retinol and retinyl palmitate. In vitro collagen synthesis was evaluated by quantitative assay of $[^3H]-proline$ incorporation into collagenase sensitive protein in fibroblast cultures. For in vitro skin permeation experiments, Franz diffusion cells(effective diffusion area: 1,766 $cm^2$) and the excised skin of female hairless mouse aged 8 weeks were used, The stabilities of retinoids were evaluated at two different temperature($25^{\circ}C\;and\;40^{\circ}C$) and under UV in solubilized state and in O/W emulsion. To estimate the safety, acute oral toxicity, acute dermal toxicity, primary skin irritation, acute eye irritation and human patch test were performed. The effect of Medimin A on collagen synthesis was similar to that of retinol. The skin permeability of Medimin A was higher than those of retinol and retinyl palmitate. The Medimin A was more stable than retinol and retinyl palmitate. Medimin A was nontoxic in various toxicological tests. These results suggest that Medimin A would be a good anti-aging agent for enhancing bioavailability and stability.

In this paper, a new composite electromagnetic bandgap(EBG) structure using magnetic materials is proposed for simultaneous switching noise(SSN) suppression in the high-speed digital circuits. The proposed EBG structure has periodic unit cells of square-patches connected by spiral-shaped bridges. The magnetic materials are located on the unit cells of spiral-shaped EBG. The real part of the permeability shifts bandgap to the lower frequency region due to the increased effective inductance. The imaginary part of the permeability has magnetic loss that decreases parasitic LC resonance peaks from between the unit cells. As a result, the proposed structure has the lower cut-off frequency compared with conventional EBG structure and -30 dB SSN suppression bandwidth from 175 MHz to 7.7 GHz. The proposed structure is expected to improve the power integrity and reduce the size of the EBG power plane.
The purpose of this research is to develop an amended clay liner by utilizing waste lime produced as a by-product in chemical industries. Waste lime contains various kinds of organics which affect the permeability, compactability, and unconfined compressive strengths of soil. The geotechnical engineering properties of waste were improved by adding other materials so that they might meet the EPA requirement of clay liner. Granite weathered soil, which is abundant in Korea and can be obtained easily in the field. was used as a primary additive to improve geotechnical engineering properties of waste lime. Various kinds of laboratory tests related to geotecnnical engineering properties, required to evaluate the design criteria for the clay liner in the solid waste landfill. were carried out by changing miRing ratio of waste lime with additive. According to the laboratory test results, in order to obtain the appropriate amended clay liner. the effective miffing ratio of waste lime in granite weathered soil was proved to be about 20~30%.
The utilization of excess whey is necessary to reduce dairy waste because the large amount of whey disposal in waste streams has caused environmental problems. During whey protein film production as the effective means of utilization of excess whey, we have examined the effects of pH, temperature, and plasticizers for water vapor permeability(WVP), tensile strength(TS), and elongation rate(%E) of the whey protein films. The 10% whey protein films had the highest WVP(28.73g$.$mm/kPa$.$day$.$㎡) and TS(1.85${\pm}$0.11Mpa). But, in this case, an increase of WVP was caused by the thickness of whey protein films. At the concentration of 8% whey protein, appropriate thickness was obtained. Whey protein films prepared at the pH 6.75 and 95$^{\circ}C$ showed lower WVP(28.38g$.$mm/kPa$.$day$.$㎡) and elongation rate(12.9%) and higher TS value(3.769${\pm}$0.407 MPa) than at the pH 6.75 and 75$^{\circ}C$. As the temperature increased, WVP of films decreased slightly and tensile strength increased slightly, while elongation rate decreased significantly. Higher WVP and TS were observed at pH6.75 compared to pH7-9. In contrast, significantly higher elongation was observed at pH 9comapred to pH6.75-8. Among the plasticizer types used, the addition of sorbitol showed the highest TS value(6.244${\pm}$0.297 MPa) at the concentration 0.4g sorbitol and elongation rate(49%) at the concentration of 0.6g sorbitol.

It is necessary to recognize philosophical and scientific depth, contained in traditional culture in a correct fashion, in order to succeed and develop our excellent traditional culture. Some studies on storage, circulation, and package design of traditional food will multiple the added value of traditional culture. So this research was carried out for making packing cases of kinds of Korean dried confectionery using Hanji by traditional manufacturing method, Hanji textile, charcoal Hanji and jade Hanji, and for developing environmental-friendly Korean dried confectionery package as more luxurious packaging papers by putting an exterior design on the surface. The results measured physical properties, air permeability and anti-mold activity of Hanji, and designing Korean dried confectionery are as follows. The physical properties and air permeability used to manufacture Korean dried confectionery package, turned out to be no affection to the food packaging Hanji. In order to avoid the monotonousness of Korean dried confectionery package, it was designed with Hanji textile together with elegant traditional pattern. It is estimated to increase the value of Korean dried food and to make the anti-mold activity of Hanji added charcoal and jade effective. In conclusion, by developing individual properties of traditional food and proper packaging paper as well as packaging design according to circulating situation, it is considered that the taste and the fancy can be maximized. After all, by applying excellent traits contained in our race's culture, it is possible to develop the package cases into competitive ones. And it would be able to increase utilization of Hanji. Namely, production of high quality traditional food package with Hanji is expected for new valuable industry of Hanji.
The thermomechanical property, morphology, and gas permeability of nanocomposites of ultra high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) with two different organoclays are compared. Hexamethylene benzimidazole-mica ($C_{16}BIMD-Mica$) and Cloisite 25A were used as reinforcing fillers in the formation of UHMWPE hybrid films. Dispersions of organoclays with UHMWPE were carried out by using the solution intercalation method at different organoclay contents to produce nano-scale composites. Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) micrographs show that some of the clay layers are dispersed homogeneously within the polymer matrix on the nano-scale, although some clay particles are agglomerated. We also found that the addition of only a small amount of organoclay is enough to improve the thermomechanical property and gas barrier of the UHMWPE hybrid films. In general, Cloisite 25A is more effective than $C_{16}BIMD-Mica$ in increasing both the thermomechanical property and the gas barrier in a UHMWPE matrix.
With the object of developing a non-gap choke core, effects of annealing in oxygen atmosphere on magnetic properties for Fe$_{78}$Si$_{9}$B$_{13}$ amorphous alloy were investigated. After annealing for 2 hrs at 440 $^{\circ}C$, optimum magnetic properties for choke core were obtained, where the effective permeability was 180 and was almost constant up to several MHz, and the decrease in permeability upon large DC bias current of 12 A or DC bias magnetic field of 8,000 A/m was very little. Moreover the AC magnetic loss was very low as compared to the conventional choke cores. Upon the optimum annealing, the magnetic hysteresis loop was inclined accompanying the increase of coercive force and the appearance of fine crystallites of $\alpha$-Fe phase. The good choke core properties was considered to be due to the suppression of domain boundary motion and domain refinement by the crystallites.
