This study was carried out to investigate the optimum medium and concentrations of growth regulators for induction of multiple shoot by meristem culture of floe otorefcenf Mill. MS medium supple-mented with 3${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ TDZ was effective for induction of multiple shoot. Shoot multiplication was more ef-fective when 2mg/1 BA combined with 0.Img/1 IAA than when only BA were treated on medium. Halfstrength of MS medium supplemented with 2mg/L IAA was effective for rooting of shoots regenerated. When plantlets regenerated from meristem culture were transferred to pot, survival rate of plantletswas 80% on perlite and was 95% on vermiculite, respectively.
The most effective medium for shoot initiation in vitro of peach cv. Baekmijosaeng, Yumyeong and nectarine cv. Cheonhong was Quoirin and Lepoivre medium(LP). 20 g/L and 30 g/L sorbitol as carbon source were effective for shoot proliferation of cv. Baekmijosaeng. Addition of 500 mg/L lacto albumin enzymatic hydrolysate(LH) increased shoot number per explant of cv. Baekmijosaeng peach. Removing the apical meristem and horizontal placing of explants on the medium increased cv. Baekmijosaeng shoot.

Since the financial turmoil in 1997, both the national and local governments have initiated a variety of policy measures to support small and medium-size firms to strengthen the national and regional economies. It is no doubt that such policies contributed to establish better business environment for them. However, many analytical reports and academic studies in recent years diagnose that the economy conditions for the small and medium-size firms are in crisis because many policy measures are made based on the supply-side approach rather than demand-side consideration. In order for the governments' efforts to be more realistic and effective, it is necessary to see what the policy target groups(that is. the small and medium-size entrepreneurs) want. This study surveyed entrepreneurs in Hwaseung city, Kyonggi-do, which has more than three-thousands of small and medium-size firms. It finds that in spite of locational advantages and a variety of policy supports from the provincial and local governments, they need more financial supports, more effective mass transportation system for commuting workers. less bureaucratic barriers, and so on.
V8 juice agar (V8A) has been the most popular and commonly used medium for growth and reproduction of Phytophthora. However, frequently V8 vegetable juice is not available or difficult to obtain in Korea. We therefore developed widely accessible medium to substitute for V8A using domestically available five juices; two carrot (KCJA), two tomato (KTJA) and a vegetable-mix (KVMA). To prepare 10% juice medium, each vegetable juice 100 ml, DW 900 ml, agar 17 g and Ca CO3 0.5∼1.0g were supplemented to adjust pH ca. 6.0 Mycelial growth of P. cactorum and P. capsici on KTJA and KVMA was equally effective as V8A for the growth of P. cactorum, P. capsici, P. drechsleri and P. nicotianae under light. Sporangial production of P cactorum, P. capsici and P. nicotianae on KTJA and KVMA was as good as V8A and slightly better than CKJA, but the difference was insignificant by P. cactorum and P. nicotianae. The four fungi successfully formed oospores on all the media although the numbers were varied among species and media. While KTJA was the best for P. cactorum and P. capsici, V8A was the best for P. capsici and P. drechsleri. However, KCJA stimulated highest number of oopspores of P. nicotianae. Overall results showed that domestically available vegetable juices were highly effective on growth and reproduction of Phytophthora and comparable to V8 juice. Therefore, the domestic juice medium can be successfully replaced V8A in Phytophthora study.
Onion extracts were tested for effects on the growth and lactic acid production of Lactobacillus bulgaricus in the medium containing mercury. The media containing mercury were added with onion extracts and inoculated with the bacterium and then incubated at $39^{\circ}$ for four days. All of the onion extracts examined increased the growth and lactic acid production of the bacterium in the medium containing mercury. At the addition of the edible portion extract of onion to the medium containing 5 ppm, 10 ppm and 20 ppm mercury, the higher the concentration of the onion extract was added, the greater the increasing effect on the growth and lactic acid production. The brown peel extract of onion increased the growth and lactic acid production of the bacterium in the medium containing mercury at all concentrations. The higher the concentration of the extract added, the more effective the increasing effect. The onion solutions of edible portion and brown peel extracted at $90^{\circ}\;to\;100^{\circ}$ showed more desirable effects than those extracted at the room temperature. Among four kinds of the onion extracts, the brown peel solution extracted at $90^{\circ}\;to\;100^{\circ}$ was the most effective in increase of the growth and lactic acid production in the medium containing mercury.

We would like to study and develop the optimized WBS(Work Breakdown Structure) considering project's range, schedule, cost and human resources management with defining phased work in main task and preceding and escorting relationships for effective small and medium enterprises' informatization through standardized PSDM(Production System Development Methodology). For more systemic and effective system built-up, it introduces production information with WBS study which is appropriate for the small and medium enterprises with setting up management items for enhancing system's reliability, quality, productivity, smooth communication among the participated enterprises such as the small and medium enterprises, IT enterprises, and supervision enterprises, and operational support including maintenance of the built system. This study is purpose of helping a lot of the small and medium enterprises and IT enterprises to build up the systems more effective and reliable within planned schedule using the standardized methodology.
Effects of pituitary and thyroid hormones on estradiol-induced vitellogenin (VTG) induction were electrophoretically examined in primary hepatocyte cultures of rainbow trout. Hepatocytes were precultured for 2 days and then estradiol-17 $\beta$$(E_2,\;2 \times 10^{-6}M)$>, triiodothyronine $(T_3,\;10^{-8}-10^{-6}M)$, bovine growth hormone (bGH, 10-100 ng/ml), ovine prolactin (oPRL, 100-500 ng/ml), and pituitary extract (PE) of rainbow trout (0.75PE/dish) were added to the incubation medium. The hepatocytes were cultured for 7 more days. The addition of oPRL to the incubation medium was not effective in increasing VTG production at any concentrations. The addition of PE to the incubation medium with $E_2$ was not effective in increasing VTG production. The addition of bGH to the incubation medium with $E_2$ was not effective in increasing the rate of VTG production at concentrations of 10-50 ng/ml. However, a higher concentration of bGH, 100 ng/ml, increased VTG production. The various concentrations of $T_3$ were ineffective in stimulating VTG production. These results suggest that GH could be one of stimulus factors for VTG production in rainbow trout.

To improve the efficiency of mass propagation in vitro of Fritillaria thunbergii, bulb scale and nodes were cultured in LS medium supplemented with the combination of 2, 4-D and kinetin or NAA and BA. The number and size of bulb, the number of adventitious shoot, the ratio of callus formation, rooting, and the effects of light and dark on the culture, plant regeneration from calli, and the gelling substances were investigated. The combination of 2, 4-D and kinetin in media was more effective than the media of NAA and BA for the bulblet formation. The media supplemented with 2 mg/L 2, 4-D and 1 mg/L kinetin, $1{\sim}2\;mg/L$ 2, 4-D without kinetin and $1{\sim}3\;mg/L$ BAA only were effective in the adventitious shoot development. Callus formation and root formation, respectively were effective in the medium supplemented with 2mg/L 2, 4-D and 1mg/L kinetin. In bulb formation, the medium with 5 mg/L kinetin was effective, and the most of bulbs were formed from the axillary bud of node part. In bulb formation, shoot growth, callus and root formation, the light culture for 16 hours per day was better than that in the dark culture. Bulb was nicely formed in the medium with 0. 2 mg/L 2, 4-D, 1 mg/L kinetin. The medium without hormone was most effective for plant regeneration. The phytagel was more effective than agar in the medium as the gelling agent.
To develop a practical and cost-effective medium for bioethanol production from the hydrolysate of seaweed Sargassum sagamianum, we investigated the feasibility and performance of bioethanol production in CSL (corn-steep liquor)-containing medium, where yeast Pichia stipitis was used and the repeated batch was carried out in a surface-aerated fermentor. The optimal medium replacement time during the repeated operation was determined to be 36 h, and the surface aeration rates were 30 and 100 ml/min. Under these conditions, the repeated-batch operation was successfully carried out for 6 runs (216 h), in which the maximum bioethanol concentrations reached about 11-12 g/l at each batch operation. These results demonstrated that bioethanol production could be carried out repeatedly and steadily for 216 h. In these experiments, the total cumulative bioethanol production was 57.9 g and 58.0 g when the surface aeration rates were 30 ml/min and 100 ml/min, respectively. In addition, the bioethanol yields were 0.43 (about 84% of theoretical value) and 0.44 (about 86% of theoretical value) when the surface aeration rates were 30 ml/min and 100 ml/min, respectively. CSL was successfully used as a medium ingredient for the bioethanol production from the hydrolysate of seaweed Sargassum sagamianum, indicating that this medium may be practical and cost-effective for bioethanol production.

Elastic wave propagation in discrete random medium studies to predict dynamic effective properties of composite materials containing spherical inclusions. A self-consistent method is proposed which is analogous to the well-known coherent potential approximation. Three conditions that must be satisfied by two effective elastic moduli and effective density are derived for the time without limit of frequency. The derived self-consistency conditions have the physical meaning that the scattering of coherent wave by the constituents in effective medium is vanished on the average. The frequency-dependent complex effective wave speed and coherent attenuation can be obtained by solving the derived self-consistency conditions numerically. The wave speed and attenuation obtained from present theory are shown to be in the better agreements with previous experimental observations than the previous theory.
