The history of the Bakken Museum, the Museum of Electricity in Life, is useful to understand the universality and particularity of a local science museum. Beginning with the small collections at the medical device company, the Bakken Museum has expanded its scope and facilities by reidentifying its mission from research institute to educational center. The educational turn of the Bakken Museum has been completed with two remarkable events: the launch of the Summer Institute in 1984 and the construction of the new education facility, New Wing, in 1999. During this change, the museum staff developed unique strategies for public engagement, using the history of science and technology as an educational tool. The shift of the Bakken Museum's mission provides an excellent example of how a local museum could meet the social needs for museums to be educational centers by utilizing its history and collections.

The aim of this study is to provide the values and descriptive implications of the Design Thinking (DT) method into the context of educational problems of practice in an undergraduate course. To achieve the research objective, both quantitative and qualitative studies were conducted. For the qualitative study, the student's productions and reflections on the experience of the application of the DT into educational problems were analyzed. For the quantitative research, one-group pre and post-test were designed to validate the effectiveness of the DT method into educational contexts in terms of creativity level to measure the student's Creativity Potential and Practiced Creativity, Academic Self-Efficacy Scale, and Problem-Solving Inventory. This study validated that the DT method had a statistically significant influence on those three competencies and also illustrated the detailed process from a qualitative viewpoint. The results and implications reflect the potential of the DT approach with the educational problem of practice, especially, in the ill-structured problem-solving contexts for student-centered instructional setting.

This paper explored gifted students' perspectives on using educational technologies in their schools in the Saudi context. Adopting a descriptive research approach, a questionnaire was used to collect information from a sample of 196 gifted secondary school students in Jeddah. Findings showed that educational technology was used to a high degree, with an overall mean of 3.74 and 4.06 for the degree of importance of technological usage. Based on the findings, the researcher forwards some recommendations for effectively using such technologies to promote gifted students' abilities and talents.

This paper argues for modern technologies in the educational process. It specifically outlines issues germane to virtual and augmented reality. It begins with an account on virtual reality and augmented reality, and touches on their characteristics, the advantages, obstacles and applications. It also discusses some relevant studies that emphasized the role of virtual and augmented reality in education, the difference between two terms. The paper ends with a note of vision on how to activate them in educational institutions.

이 연구의 목적은 공업계 고교에서의 산학협력 실태를 조사하고, 산학협력 활성화 방안을 제안하는데 있다. 주요 연구 방법은 문헌 연구와 설문 조사이다. 설문 조사는 공업계 고교를 모집단으로 전수 조사를 실시하였고, 조사 대상은 각 학교의 교무부장, 실과장, 그리고 교육과정 관련 업무를 교무부장이 담당하지 않는 학교의 경우 교육과정 담당부장도 응답에 참여하도록 하였다. 주요 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 공업계 고교에서 산학협력의 목적에 대하여 교사들은 산업현장 맞춤형 직업교육의 기회 제공, 공업계 고교 졸업생의 안정적 직업세계의 진출 확보, 맞춤형 인력의 양성과 공급을 통한 산업체의 경쟁력 확보라고 인식하고 있었다. 둘째, 교사들은 공업계 고교와 산업체간의 산학협력이 잘 이루어지지 않고 있다고 인식하고 있었다. 셋째, 교사들은 공업계 고교에서 산학협력이 강조된 교육과정의 개발과 운영이 필요하다고 인식하고 있었다. 넷째, 공업계 고교에서 학교 교육과정 편성시 산업체의 요구 반영 정도에 대하여 공업계 고교에서는 학교 교육과정 편성시 산업체의 요구를 잘 반영하지 않고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 다섯째, 공업계 고교에서 산업체의 요구를 반영한 주된 교육과정 운영 방법으로는 산업체 현장실습 및 현장 체험 학습 운영, 산학협력에 의한 맞춤식 교육과정 개발 적용, 산업체 인사 참여에 의한 산학겸임교사 제도 운영인 것으로 나타났다. 여섯째, 산학협력 활성화를 위해 학교 교육 영역에서 노력해야 할 사항은 산학협력 대상 기업체 적극 발굴, 산학협력에 기반한 학교 수준 교육과정의 개발 운영 노력, 그리고 정부의 산학협력 기반의 직업교육 정책 사업 적극 참여로 나타났다. 일곱째, 산학협력과 관련하여 공업계 고교 교육과정 선진화를 위해서는 교육과정의 다양화를 위한 선택중심 교육과정 강화, 보통교과 중심의 국가 수준 교육과정 체제 탈피를 통한 전문교과와의 균형성 추구, 원활한 산학협력을 위해 국가수준상의 관련 지침 개정인 것으로 나타났다.
