Infection control among dental hygienists according to infection control education experiences (치과위생사의 감염관리 교육경험에 따른 감염관리 실태)

  • Objectives : The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between the infection control education experiences of dental hygienists and the state of their infection control. Methods : The subjects in this study were the dental hygienists who worked in Seoul. The relationship of their infection control education experiences to their gender, marital status, academic credential, workplace, length of service, infection control implementation, experience of being exposed to infection, way of coping with it, hand washing, use of personal protection devices and equipment management was analyzed. Results : It is found that the variable to affect the state of infection control was educational experiences about handpiece water pipe management, ultrasonic scaler water pipe management and three-way syringe water pipe management. Conclusions : Dental hygienists who are one of major dental personnels should receive systematic education on infection control to acquire accurate knowledge to ensure the successful prevention of cross infection.

Influence of Cognitive Conflict Strategy Through Swing Experience on the Students' Conception of Force on a Simple Pendulum (그네타기 체험을 통한 인지갈등 전략이 학생들의 단진자에 작용하는 힘 개념에 미치는 영향)

  • This study examined 8th-graders' conceptions of force on a simple pendulum and investigated cognitive conflict and conceptual change through kinesthetic experience in swing. Participants of this study were guided to anticipate the direction of total force acting on a pendulum at three critical positions and observed it through swing experience. Having completed this, students read an article explaining the results they observed. Most of them considered gravity, tension, and motion-force to be the real forces acting on a pendulum in pre-test. Though they were interested in the activity and conceded their expectations to be different from observed results, the degrees of their cognitive conflict were not significantly high. In summation, 'interest' was the highest and 'anxiety' was the lowest. Most of the students memorized the direction of forces on a swing, but few could explain the reason behind the occurrence in an immediate post-test and delayed post-test.

Analysis on educational experience of graduates' career success (진로 성공 대학 졸업생의 교육 참여 경험 탐색)

  • The purpose of this study is to explore the experience of graduates' career success who actively participated during their school days. The experience of participation in education has been explored from three perspectives: input, environment, and output. The first factor which is the input includes the admission process, motivation for application, and methods of appropriating tuition fees. The second factor which is the environment includes the interrelationships with both in and out of school activities, in-class activities, and in-college members. Lastly, the output factor of university education includes the results of university education and the perception of social advancement. The subjects of the study were 21 students who succeeded in entering society based on their goals. The interviews and surveys were conducted, and the factors affecting their career success were analyzed by dividing them into three upper categories and each category is to create implications for the future direction of university education.

Middle School Students' Perceptions of Sexual Violence (성폭력에 대한 중학생의 인식과 경험)

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the experience of sexual violence and sexual violence education. The data were collected from June 19 to July 14. 2000 using the questionnaire. The Subjects of this study consisted of 736 middle school students in six provinces(Seoul, Incheon, Daegu, Kyunggi, Kangwon, Kyungbuk). Data were analyzed using percentage, mean standard deviation. ANOVA. and Duncan test. The results were as follows: 1. About sixty-two percent of the subjects was educated for sexual violence. 2. About twenty-five percent of the subjects experienced sexual harassment, 12.1% of the subjects experienced serious sexual contact, and 2.0% of the subjects was raped. 3. The mean score of misconception related sexual violence was $2.86{\pm}0.47$. 4. The mean score of misconception related sexual violence showed significant differences in experience of education(t=-3.83. P<.0001), in delayed time of education(F=6.33. P<.0001) and in reading of pornomagazine(F=2.03. P<.05). 5. The mean score of misconception related sexual violence showed significant differences in experience of sexual harassment(t=-1.92. P<.05) and in experience of serious sexual contact (t=-2.41. P<.01). 6. There was a significant differences in misconception related sexual violence between boy and girl(t=5.79. P<.0001). According to the above results, realistic and future-directed sexual violence education materials should be developed for middle school students. This information will provide useful data to promote a more systemic, desirable and sexual violence education.

Data abnormal detection using bidirectional long-short neural network combined with artificial experience

  • Data anomalies seriously threaten the reliability of the bridge structural health monitoring system and may trigger system misjudgment. To overcome the above problem, an efficient and accurate data anomaly detection method is desiderated. Traditional anomaly detection methods extract various abnormal features as the key indicators to identify data anomalies. Then set thresholds artificially for various features to identify specific anomalies, which is the artificial experience method. However, limited by the poor generalization ability among sensors, this method often leads to high labor costs. Another approach to anomaly detection is a data-driven approach based on machine learning methods. Among these, the bidirectional long-short memory neural network (BiLSTM), as an effective classification method, excels at finding complex relationships in multivariate time series data. However, training unprocessed original signals often leads to low computation efficiency and poor convergence, for lacking appropriate feature selection. Therefore, this article combines the advantages of the two methods by proposing a deep learning method with manual experience statistical features fed into it. Experimental comparative studies illustrate that the BiLSTM model with appropriate feature input has an accuracy rate of over 87-94%. Meanwhile, this paper provides basic principles of data cleaning and discusses the typical features of various anomalies. Furthermore, the optimization strategies of the feature space selection based on artificial experience are also highlighted.

A Study on Contents of Robot Education Curriculum (로봇 교육과정 단계별 학습내용에 관한 연구)

  • In this study, robot curriculum was developed to fulfill systematic robot education in elementary and middle schools. For literature research, robot curriculum cases in the UK, the US, and Korea were surveyed to choose and organize robot education contents. The robot curriculum developed is categorized into five areas-robot basic course, sensor, structure/motion, control, and problem-solving-and consist of four step-robot experience, robot creation, robot exploration, and robot control. Stepwise learning contents reflected difficulty and sequence to let students experience intensive repetitive activity. This study will lay the foundation for applying systematic robot education to elementary and middle school students. In the future, it is expected to study the development and application of various programs on the basis of the developed robot curriculum.

A Preliminary Study on the Development of Parenting Education Programs for College Students and Adolescent Workers (대학생과 근로자의 부모교육 프로그램재발을 위한 기초연구)

  • This research explored parenting education programs for be college students and adolescent workers, and it was focused on determining whether different parenting education programs were needed for college students and adolescent workers. The participants were 254 college students in Suncheon and 135 adolescent industrial workers in Ulsan. Data were gathered via questionnaires and two-way ANOVA analyses of parenting effectiveness by sex and social status(college student, versus adolescent industrial worker), and by age and social status were performed. There were no significant differences based on sex, age, or social status, and no interaction effect. However, there were significant differences in adolescents' parenting effectiveness depending on childhood parenting experiences, parenting knowledge, and parenting education program experience. Among the predictors(sex, age, social status, childhood parenting experience, parenting knowledge, and parent education experiences) adolescents' childhood parenting experiences was the strongest variable for predicting parenting effectiveness. In this regard, the results confirmed Bronfenbrenner's Ecological System's Theory that family influences children's belief systems about parenting effectiveness in the microsystem. Furthermore, the results indicate that a different parenting education program is not needed for college students and adolescent industrial workers, respectively; instead, a more comprehensive parenting education program for all adolescents - regardless of social status is needed. And based on the present study's results, the importance of child development knowledge, and parent-child relationships in parenting education programs was also confirmed. From a broader social perspective, all adolescents are encouraged to participate in parenting education programs.

Recognition, attitudes, knowledge, education experience, and education demand regarding physical restraint among laypersons (신체억제대에 대한 일반인의 인식, 태도, 지식 및 교육경험과 교육요구도 조사)

  • Purpose: This study aimed to investigate recognition, attitudes, knowledge, education experience, and education demand regarding physical restraint among laypersons. Methods: A self-reported questionnaire was completed by 105 randomly recruited laypersons in D city. Excluding 2 incomplete answers, 103 data were analyzed by frequency analysis, t-test, ANOVA, and chi-square test using SPSS 23.0. Results: Laypersons' recognition of physical restraints was rated at 3.37 out of 5 points, and showed a positive perspective. Knowledge on physical restraints was rated at 13.68 out of 18 points and was affected by age and education level (F = 2.845, p = .028)(F = 3.126, p = .029) A majority of the participants had no education on physical restraints. Nevertheless, participants showed intention to receive education in physical restraint to reach further understanding. Conclusion: Education on physical restraints is necessary for lay persons. However, there were education limits for people living in modern times. As an intervention addressing this problem, observing videos on the internet is recommended. Moreover, for advertising/educational purposes, accessing the internet and using smart-phone applications are suggested.

The Death Orientation of Paramedic Student (응급구조과 학생의 죽음에 관한 의식)

  • Objective : The purpose of this study was to investigate the perception of death in paramedic student. The results of this study will help develop education program for death orientation, paramedic students education and practice. Methods : A total of 201 paramedic students filled out the questionnaire. The perception of death was examined using questionnaires designed for examining Death Orientation. The data were analyzed with SPSS 18.0 statistics program for frequency, percentage, average, standard deviation, t-test, ANOVA, cronbach alpha coefficient, factor analysis. cronbach alpha coefficient was .866. Results : The paramedic students' got a score of $2.35({\pm}.48)$ on the Orientation on death as average. The reason is that death is not yet pressing them at all and ahead of their lives they have many days to live. With respect to the Death Orientation, significant differences was found in experience of death(t=2.318, p=.021). Group of death experience was higher than group of no death experience. In view of the attitude on afterlife, students responded no afterlife(24.9%), unknown after death(22.4%). Conclusion : The results of this study suggest that paramedic curriculum should include education program on death and improve quality of prehospital care. Additional studies are needed to establish death education for paramedic.

Safety Perception and Behaviors of Mothers with School Age Children (학령기 아동 어머니의 안전 인식과 안전행동)

  • Purpose: This study aimed to identify the safety perception and behaviors of mothers with school age children. Method: The subjects were 265 mothers of third graders in one elementary school located in metropolitan Seoul area. Framingham safety survey were used to guide the development of a self administered questionnaire for mothers. The questionnaire were sent home at school and the children returned them to their class teachers. Results: Among 265 mothers, 62 mothers (23.4%) had experience of visiting hospitals because of accidents and 201 mothers (75.8%) had no opportunities on safety education. Mothers with education higher than high school graduation showed more safety behaviors. Also, mothers having the experience of safety education showed higher scores on safety behaviors and mothers with the experience of hospital visits related to accidents showed low scores on safety behaviors. In the practice of safety behaviors, it showed high score to the traffic safety, followed by the home safety, child supervision, the safety from fire and explosion, the safety from electric devices, the safety from burn, and the safety from medicines. Conclusion: Mothers' overall practice on safety were poor. Based on these results, it is necessary to provide more safety education for mothers with school age children.
