To solve the problems of the low image contrast, fuzzy edge details and edge details missing in noisy image fusion, this study proposes a noisy infrared and visible light image fusion algorithm based on non-subsample contourlet transform (NSCT) and an improved bilateral filter, which uses NSCT to decompose an image into a low-frequency component and high-frequency component. High-frequency noise and edge information are mainly distributed in the high-frequency component, and the improved bilateral filtering method is used to process the high-frequency component of two images, filtering the noise of the images and calculating the image detail of the infrared image's high-frequency component. It can extract the edge details of the infrared image and visible image as much as possible by superimposing the high-frequency component of infrared image and visible image. At the same time, edge information is enhanced and the visual effect is clearer. For the fusion rule of low-frequency coefficient, the local area standard variance coefficient method is adopted. At last, we decompose the high- and low-frequency coefficient to obtain the fusion image according to the inverse transformation of NSCT. The fusion results show that the edge, contour, texture and other details are maintained and enhanced while the noise is filtered, and the fusion image with a clear edge is obtained. The algorithm could better filter noise and obtain clear fused images in noisy infrared and visible light image fusion.

This study is concerned with the relation between steelbelt width and belt edge separation of a tire. Belt edge separation causes tire burst and threatens passenger's safety. For the reason, it is important to predict durability caused by belt edge separation in the early stage of the tire structure design. Usually, passenger car tires have two layers of steelbelts having opposite steel cord's angles, which makes a shear behaviour between each belt layer. Shear behaviour is one of reason to cause belt edge separation. In this study, to predict belt edge separation, we suggested the prediction method of belt edge separation and evaluated the effect of steelbelt width on the belt edge separation using FEM. We also studied on main parameters to affect shear behaviour at the belt edge area.

H.264 adopts new coding tools such as intra-prediction, loop filter, etc. The adoption of these tools enables an H.264-coded bitstream to have more information compared with previous standards. In this paper we proposed an effective spatial error concealment method for H.264. Among the information included in an H.264-coded bitstream, we use intra-mode for recovering a damaged block. This is because prediction direction in intra-mode is highly correlated to the edge direction of a lost macroblock. We first estimate the edge direction using intra-modes of blocks adjacent to a lost macroblock, and classify the area in a damaged macroblock into the edge and the flat area. And then our method recovers pixel values in the edge area using edge-directed interpolation, and recovers pixel values in the flat area using weighted interpolation. Simulation results show the proposed method yields better video quality than conventional approaches by 0.35 to 5.48 dB.

Gas wiping of continuously hot-dip galvanized coating on steel strip has generated edge overcoating and noise problems. The overcoating of zinc in the edge zone from edge to 50mm inside of the strip along its width was measured and analyzed. The overcoating is thought to occur due to the reduced impinging pressure of wiping gas onto the strip edges by the boundary effect and it can decrease by 50% or more by applying edge baffles when the baffle-to-strip distance is maintained to 20mm or less. The overcoating was compared with edgedrop of the cold-rolled steel substrate. Edge buildup mostly at the edge area 10 to be 20mm from the edge results in if the edgedrop is not sufficient enough to compensate for the overcoating to be flat on the edgedrop or/and if the overcoating is not small enough to the given edgedrop. Edge baffles can reduce effectively this type of edge buildup.

In this paper, a set of TM(template matching) mask using the AM(associative mapping) technique was generated and the edge detection algorithm for a SAR image was proposed. And also, the performance of the proposed edge detection algorithm was tested with the conventional edge detection techniques. The proposed edge detection algorithm created an edge image which was more accurate and clear than the conventional edge detection techniques and the performance of the proposed detection technique was not deteriorated for low intensity area in the image because the uncertainly thresholded value genetated by the conventional detection methods was requested. Also, the number of masks and the detection time were reduced by adjusting resolution of edge detection and the consideration for the threshold value extracting the edge was very intuitive.
This study was aimed to help the construction of naturally dental prosthesis by investigation of the factors affecting on the attrition position and attrition angle of maxillary canines. Therefore 163 complete cast of maxillary and mandibular extracted from the student of K. college were subjected for this study, and result through the study are as follows. 1. None attrite rate of the maxillary canine was 7%, of examined teeth. 2. Throughout mesiodistal attrition of 1) Throughout mesiodistal attrition area of the maxillary canines showed that mesial area and mid area of cusp was more frequence in attrition than distal area of it. 2) Sex, dental arch type, vertical overlap, horizontal overlap, did not affect significantly to throughtout mesiodistal attrition statistically 3. Througout labiolingual attrition area 1) Throughout labiolingual attrition area of the maxillary canines showed that attrition of the from lingual to labioncisal edge was more frequence than it of linguoincisal edge 2) It showed that attrition of the from lingual to labioincisal edge was more frequence when the length of horizontal overlap is shorter, by horizontal overlap 3) The attrition of the from lingual to labioincisal edge in maxillary left canines showed that male was more frequence in attrition than female. 4) Dental arch type, vertical overlap, did not affect signioficantly to labiolingual attrition, statistically. 4. Attrition angle 1) It showed that average attrition angle of the maxillary right canines were $19{\pm}11.02$ dagree, and it of left canines were $18{\pm}11.83$ degree. 2) It showed that famale have a bigger attrition angle than male, by sex. 3) It showed that attrition angle was bigger when the length of horizontal ovelap is bigger, by horizontal overlap.

In this study, we have proposed the method of moving area detection as the preprocessing step of moving object tracking system. First, we catch the two frames which are different at time in image sequence. We obtain the moving area by using their binary differential image. In differential image, the object area of previous and current frame is present. In the tracking system, the background is changed by camera motion. So, in this case we have to decide which moving area of object is current at time. We obtain the binary edge image of current frame by applying a threshold to the output of an edge detector. Then we performed logical AND operation between the edge image and differential image. As a result of this work moving area of object can be detected.

Background: Forest edges create distinctive ecological space as adjacent constituents, which distinguish between different ecosystems or land use types. These edges are made by anthropogenic or natural disturbance and affects both abiotic and biotic factors gradually. This study was carried out to assess edge effects on disturbed landscape at the pine-dominated clear-cut area in a genetic resources reserve in Uljin-gun, eastern Korea. This study aims to estimate the distance of edge influence by analyzing changes of abiotic and biotic factors along the distance from forest edge. Further, we recommend forest management strategy for sustaining healthy forest landscapes by reducing effects of deforestation. Results: Distance of edge effect based on the abiotic factors varied from 8.2 to 33.0 m. The distances were the longest in $Mg^{2+}$ content and total nitrogen, $K^+$, $Ca^{2+}$ contents, canopy openness, light intensity, air humidity, $Na^+$ content, and soil temperature followed. The result based on biotic factors varied from 6.8 to 29.5 m, coverage of tree species in the herb layer showed the longest distance and coverage of shrub plant in the herb layer, evenness, species diversity, total coverage of herb layer, and species richness followed. As the result of calculation of edge effect by synthesizing 26 factors measured in this study, the effect was shown from 11.0 m of the forest interior to 22.4 m of the open space. In the result of stand ordination, Rhododendron mucronulatum, R. schlippenbachii, and Fraxinus sieboldiana dominated arrangement of forest interior sites and Quercus mongolica, Vitis amurensis, and Rubus crataegifolius dominated spatial distribution of the open area plots. Conclusions: Forest interior habitat lies within the influence of both abiotic and biotic edge effects. Therefore, we need a forest management strategy to sustain the stability of the plant and further animal communities that depend on its stable conditions. For protecting forest interior, we recommend selective logging as a harvesting method for minimizing edge effects by anthropogenic disturbance. In fact, it was known that selective logging contributes to control light availability and wind regime, which are key factors affecting microclimate. In addition, ecological restoration applying protective planting for the remaining forest in the clear-cut area could contribute to prevent continuous disturbance in forest interior.

There are two methods to get 3-dimensional information by matching image pair feature-based matching and area-based matching. One of the problems in the area-based matching is how the optimal search region which gives accurate correlation between given point and its neighbors can be selected. In this paper, we proposed a new area-based matching algorithm which uses edge-features used in the conventional feature-based matching. It first selects matching candidates by feature-based and matches image pair with area-based method by taking these candidates as guidance to decision of search area. The results show that running time is reduced by optimizing search area(considering edge points and continuity of disparity), keeping on the precision as the conventional area-based matching method.
