Wireless Traffic Signal Light using Fuzzy Rules

  • In this paper, we wish to construct a optimal traffic cycle using wire remote control. if police vehicle or ambulance suddenly enter the traffic intersection, it will increase the traffic accident. In this paper, wireless traffic light use the radio traffic control signal and research about the hardware manufacture to check special detectors on urgency vehicles may safety and rapidly enter traffic intersection. Also, this paper present a traffic signal control conditions that analyzes different traffic intersection flows in cases of saturated flows, where the real traffic volume demand is large and the capacity constraints of bottlenecks have significant effects on the flow patterns. Through computer simulation this wireless traffic light has been proven to be much more safety and efficient than fixed traffic signal light which does not considering emergency vehicles for safety escort.

  • 최근 몇 년간 IT분야의 키워드는 소셜 네트워크 서비스 (SNS)와 스마트이다. 이러한 시대 흐름에 맞추어 지도와 GPS를 이용한 다양한 어플리케이션들이 개발되고 있지만, 대부분의 어플리케이션들이 단편화된 지리 정보만을 제공해주고 있다. 특히, 애플리케이션의 서비스형태가 프로슈머 기반으로 바뀌는 패러다임의 상황에서 아직까지 일반적인 애플리케이션 서비스형태가 생산과 소비를 분리해서 제공하고 있어서 본 논문에서는 프로슈머 기반의 애플리케이션 서비스 시스템을 개발하고자 한다. 특히, 여행가이드 서비스를 제공하는 애플리케이션을 대상으로 안드로이드 기반에서 지도서비스와 문서작성 편집 기능이 웹과의 연동을 통해, 다양한 방식으로 호환이 가능한 시스템을 개발하고자 한다. 또한 이를 통해, 기존의 활용되는 애플리케이션의 단점을 극복하고 양방향 서비스가 가능하게 하고자 한다.

Implications from Analysis on the U. K. Household Division (영국 왕실근위대 분석을 통한 국내 시사점 연구)

  • The objective of this research is to find out what the Korean traditional changing of SooMunJang and the United Kingdom's ceremony of changing the guard suggests us by performing comparative analysis as well as research of the United Kingdom Household Division's history of transition, organization, and their missions since 1660. The Royal Household is a constitutional monarchy and served by the Household Division for 350 years as a symbol of the United Kingdom. The Household Division is a regular army that is affiliated to British Army. The Guards Division consists of two cavalry regiments and five infantry regiments along with the King's Troop, Royal Horse Artillery. The Household Division not only escorts the king, guards royal palace, and attends a official function, but also dispatched to a combat area as the most elite troops. Similarities in aspect of king escort, palace guard, and succession of tradition were found from the comparison between Korean and the United Kingdom's changing of the guard. On the other hand, fundamental purpose and objective, process of forming a tourist attraction, organization were distinctive. While the Household Division and the Royal Household became a worldwide symbol of the United Kingdom, Korean changing of SooMunJang is insufficient to represent Korean traditional royal guard custom and just reenacting historical tradition to emphasize the succession of tradition and to develop tourism. Therefore, this research is suggesting methods to improve the cultural contents of distinctive Korean traditional royal guard and escort of royal family.

A study on the northern sea route safety convoy using ship handling simulation (선박조종시뮬레이션을 이용한 북극해 안전 호송에 관한 연구)

  • Due to global warming it is estimated that the arctic ocean route will be avaliable and traffic will increase by approximately year 2030. However, most navigation in the arctic is based on the ice breaker captains'orders, there is no exact measurement of convoy speed and distance between ships. So, this research was conducted to find out the minimum safe separation distance and minimum breaking distance via ship controling simulations, and the results are as stated. For breaking distances, for ships that have a lead distance which is 2~4 times the width of the ship and traveling less than 7 knots, crash astern and crash astern & hard rudder showed no significant difference. But ships traveling at 10 knots there was a decrease in breaking distance of 1L, from 3.5L to 2.5L. By analyzing 10 subject ships by crash astern the breaking distance for 5 knots is 0.98L~1.8L, for 8 knots is 1.9L~4.0L. The minimum safe separation distance in narrow sea-ways is 6L, but as the arctic sea-way is only one-way 3L is required. As the result, it is found that in the arctic the safe escort speed is less than 5 knots, if the escort speed is 8knots or more and by using crash astern & hard rudder to break the safe distance should be kept at 3.4L.

  • This study started from questioning our general view that the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF) is a natural result of Japan being a prosperous and island country. Japan's naval power collapsed after World War II. The initial power of the JMSDF, founded in 1954, was very small and not different from the Republic of Korea Navy (ROKN), mostly consisting of ships given by or borrowed from the US. Although growing into the world's second-largest economy and the geographical characteristics of an island nation acted as an opportunity to increase naval forces, there were also difficulties in the early stage, such as a temporary severance with the Japanese Navy, strategic thinking centered on land forces, and an economic crisis caused by the oil crisis. As a result, the JMSDF has become a world-class naval power and is developing into a four helicopter carrier operating system, which may change the basic concept of exclusive defense. There are various factors behind the growth of Japan's naval power, but this study explores how to develop Korean naval forces by analyzing how Japan developed their escort fleet, the core of the JMSDF, focusing on the eight (艦)-eight (機) fleet system, which was the basic logic behind building the JMSDF.

  • Today distant oceans around the world are regarded as a major 'global commons' for international trade and transportation. Korea is not an exception, because Korea hugely depends on sea lines of communication (SLOC) for supplying vital commodities such as food and energy resource. As a result, assuring a free and safe use of distant ocean beyond territory is also an important agenda for Korea's maritime security. However there are a number of challenges for Korea to enjoy a free and safe use of distant ocean; dangers of regional maritime conflict in East Asia, naval arms race of China and Japan, and concerns on possible decline of U.S naval presence and power projection capabilities. These factors provide a reasonable basis for Republic of Korea Navy (ROKN) to pursue capabilities for major naval operations at distant ocean in a long-term perspective toward the year 2030. The introduction of aircraft carrier and nuclear-powered submarine is a key requirement for achieving this goal. ROKN needs to acquire a 'multi-role strategic landing platform' type of light aircraft carrier, which takes a role to escort naval task force by providing air superiority at distant ocean. Additionally nuclear-powered submarine will offer ROKN a formidable power to carry out offensive missions effectively at distant ocean.

Proposing a Pre-service Teacher Training Program for the Gifted Education

  • Since 1998, an elementary teacher education institute in Korea has hosted the center for the gifted education. The institute hired undergraduate students to escort and liaison each class of the gifted student participants with assisting classroom activities. These liaison teachers observed the gifted classroom activities and evaluated them by using a given checklist and filling out pre-made evaluation forms. Currently this system is being transferred from part-time jobs for students to earn allowance into well organized pre-service teacher program focusing on the gifted education. In other words, the purpose of system is being shifted from how liaison teachers facilitate the gifted program to how the system helps the liaison teachers to be quality teachers for the gifted who can understand what the gifted are and how to facilitate them. Analyzed were the self reports of the liaison teachers regarding their perceptions and beliefs of the gifted and their education program. It was found participant liaison teachers purposed to have more live experiences with getting along with students as well. Liaison teachers’ perceptions on establishing a gifted teacher professional education sequence were reported in this study. The potential scaffolding of the pre-service teacher education program model of the gifted education was provided as a consequence of this study.

Sea Lines of Communication Security and Piracy (해상교통로(SLOC) 안보와 해적: 소말리아 해적퇴치작전 경험을 중심으로)

  • This thesis analyzes Somali piracy as a non-traditional threat to the Sea Lines of Communication (SLOC) and international countermeasures to the piracy. In an era of globally interdependent economies, the protection of sea lines and freedom of navigation are prerequisites for the development of states. Since the post-Cold War began in the early 1990s, ocean piracy has emerged as a significant threat to international trade. For instance, in the Malacca Strait which carries 30 percent of the world's trade volume, losses from failed shipping, insurance, plus other subsequent damages were enormous. Until the mid-2000s, navies and coast guards from Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, together with the International Maritime Organization (IMO), conducted anti-piracy operations in the Strait of Malacca. The combined efforts of these three maritime states, through information sharing and with reinforced assets including warships and patrol aircrafts, have successfully made a dent to lower incidents of piracy. Likewise, the United Nations' authorization of multinational forces to operate in Somali waters has pushed interdiction efforts including patrol and escort flotilla support. This along with self-reinforced security measures has successfully helped lower piracy from 75 incidents in 2012 to 15 in 2013. As illustrated, Somali piracy is a direct security threat to the international community and the SLOC which calls for global peacekeeping as a countermeasure. Reconstructing the economy and society to support public safety and stability should be the priority solution. Emphasis should be placed on restoring public peace and jurisdiction for control of piracy as a primary countermeasure.

The Northern Sea Route Transit Modeling of Icebreaking Cargo Vessels (쇄빙상선의 북극해 항로 항행 모델링)

  • Main purpose of the study is to develop a transit model for icebreaking cargo vessels in the Northern Sea Route and to select optimum sea routes with the shortest navigation time and the lowest operation cost. This numerical model executed with basic information such as ship capabilities, transit directions and months of transit, can calculate total transit distance and elapsed time, mean speed, operation cost for each vessel. In the transit model. environment information such as the site-specific ice conditions, wave and wind states are utilized for four different months (April, June, August, and October) along the Northern Sea Route. The model also defines a necessary period of an icebreaker escort. Then the optimum sea routes are selected and visually displayed on the digital map using a commercial software ArcGIS. Usefulness of the selected sea routes is discussed.

  • The Genetic Algorithm(GA) is a global search algorithm based on biological genetics. It is widely used in various fields such as industrial applications, artificial neural networks, web applications and defense industry. However, conventional Genetic Algorithm has difficulty maintaining feasibility in complicated situations due to its fixed number of chromosomes. This study proposes the Genetic Algorithm using variable chromosome with chromosome attachment. And in order to verify the implication of changing number of chromosomes in the simulation, it applies the Genetic Algorithm using variable chromosome with chromosome attachment to antisubmarine High Value Unit(HVU) escort mission simulation. As a result, the Genetic Algorithm using variable chromosome has produced complex strategies faster than the conventional method, indicating the increase of the number of chromosome during the process.
