  • A new driving circuit for the SPSS (Single-Pulse Soft-Switching) PFC converter is proposed. The switching device of a SPSS converter switches once in every half cycle of an AC commercial power source. Therefore, it can be solved many problems caused by the high frequency operation. The proposed SPSS converter achieves the soft-switching operation and the EMI noise can be reduced. The resonant capacitor voltage supplies to the resonant inductor even if the input AC voltage is the vicinity of zero cross voltage. Then, the power factor and input current waveform can be improved without delay time. A new driving circuit achieves the operation of SPSS converter by one switching drive circuit. The proposed converter can be satisfied the IEC standard sufficiently

  • This paper presents a modified Current Source Parallel Resonant Push-pull Inverter (CSPRPI) for single phase induction heating applications. One of the most important problems associated with current source parallel resonant inverters is achieving ZVS in transient intervals. This paper shows that a CSPRPI with the integral cycle control method has dynamic ZVS. According to this method, it is the Phase Locked Loop (PLL) circuit that tracks the switching frequency. The advantages of this technique are a higher efficiency, a smaller package size and a low EMI in comparison with similar topologies. Additionally, the proposed modification results in a low THD of the ac-line current. It has been measured as less than %2. To show the validity of the proposed method, a laboratory prototype is implemented with an operating frequency of 80 kHz and an output power of 400 W. The experimental results confirm the validity of the proposed single phase induction heating system.

  • In this paper, measuring equipment for arcs which are caused by losing contact between a pantograph and a catenary in the electric train, TTX, was designed and we actually measured arcs of current and voltage at 2007. 5. 16 $\sim$ 17, 2007. 5. 31, 2007. 6. 18 $\sim$ 19 and 2007.6. 30 $\sim$ 31, a total of 4 times. The TTF tool was made by LabVIEW software and the actually measured arc data were analyzed by the FFT tool. The analysis result showed that the arc current and voltage contains much harmonic, so we must consider problems of EMS and EMI in the main circuit system of the electric train TTX.

  • This paper is to describe how to apply the Phase-shifted Full Bridge 100kHz high frequency soft-switching PWM method to 48[V], 200[A] DC/DC converter. The soft-switching is achieved from light load to full load by using phase-shifted zero voltage switching method with additional capacitors besides the MOSPET's of the right leg even though the leakage inductance of high frequency transformer is designed small. This method can reduce the switching tosses, EMI problems, and increase the effective duty. Also, this paper includes the simulation, analysis, and experiment results of the DC/DC converter unit.

  • Electromagnetic interference (EMI) is defined as the interaction phenomena of electromagnetic waves scattered from a large structure or complex terrain. In this study, the propagation of linear wave is modeled with ray theory, direct simulation Monte Carlo (DSMC), and some classical theories on flat plates. The wave physics of reflection, refraction, and diffraction are simulated for the investigation of front and back scattering of the one-dimensional plane wave from a tower with ray theory and DSMC, respectively. The effect of rotating disk idealized from the real wind-turbine blades is modeled with a simplified version of the classical electromagnetic theory as well as DSMC based on the ray theory.

  • The DC power-bus for the PCB is loaded with metal walls on its selected sides and is characterized electromagnetically. This is a novel concept of approach to mitigate the spurious resonance and finally signal integrity problems. In particular, the peak at DC, which is always in the way to secure parallel-plates' EMC, can be completely removed by the proposed method. Through the findings of this study, the effect of metal-loading of the power-bus will be presented along with the impression that the suggested technique can tackle the headaches of signal integrity, ground bounce, EMIs.

  • A electric railway is unique system that electric trains consumed huge electric power are travelled and is much interested with EMC. There were several problems exceeding the standard in the frequency range of 9kHz to 150kHz because the radiation noises were moved the higher frequency range according to developing the power electronic technology. It is studied the experimental confirmation of main noise source on the electric train and the analytic simulation for reducing the noise level in this paper.

  • Electromagnetic(EM) radiation problems and their possible solutions are addressed in this paper for the split power plane of high-speed digital systems. Stitching and decoupling capacitors are proved to be very effective fur reducing signal noise, ground bounce as well as electromagnetic radiation from the split power plane. Simulations based on 3D-Finite Difference Time Domain (FDTD) method are utilized for the analysis of practical high frequency multi-layered PC main board

  • A Novel Zero Current Switching(ZCS) Pulse Width Modulation(PWM) boost converter for reducing two rectifiers reverse recovery related losses Is proposed. The switches of the proposed converter are operating to work alternatively turn-on and turn-off with soft switching(ZVS, ZCS) condition. The reverse recovery related switching losses and EMI problems of the proposed converter eliminates the reverse recovery current of the freewheeling diode(D, Dl) by adding the resonant inductor Lr, in series with the switch S2. The voltage and current stresses of the components are similar to those in its conventional hard switching counterpats. As mentioned above, the characteristics are verified through experimental results.
