A Study on the Modeling and Simulation of an Electro-Hydraulic Power Steering system (전기 유압식 동력 조향시스템의 모델링 및 시뮬레이션에 관한 연구)

  • Electro-hydraulic power steering (EHPS) system is the power-assisted steering which operates the hydraulic pump by BLDC motors for assisting the steering force. EHPS consists of BLDC motor, gear pump, oil-hydraulic circuit and steering system. Since EHPS is a convergence system consisting of electricity and electronic, hydraulic and mechanical system, it is difficult to establish the simulation model. In this paper, the mathematical model of EHPS system components were presented, and the simulations of the multi-domain system were performed by using AMESim. The trial and error of development would be reduced by using this simulation results, and it would be helpful for developing high-quality EHPS.

A Study on the Approximate model of the Flow rate Characteristics in External Gear pump for EHPS (전기 유압식 동력 조향시스템용 외접형 기어펌프의 유량특성 근사식에 관한 연구)

  • EHPS(Electro-Hydraulic Power Steering) is a system to generate the steering operation force from the electric motor connected directly to the oil pump. To optimize the manufacturing cost and efficiency of the performance of the steering system is very important. Until now, the development of the hydraulic system is implemented by the field test which needs a significant time and cost. In this paper, flow measurement of an external gear pump is performed. Then using the experimental results, an approximate model expressed by flow rate characteristics is proposed to calculate the discharge flow rate. Proposed approximate model is verified by comparing with the experimental data and AMESim results. As the experimental data and AMESim results agree well, the approximate model data can be used as an alternative to highly cost experimental procedure.

  • The increment of electric power demand causes interest on new higher power system such as 42V Power Net, and furthermore necessity for development of energy storage device is highlighted recently. Owing to high efficiency and easy speed control of brushless DC(BLDC) motor, the demand of BLDC motor that has high power and low noises are increasing. Especially demand of interior permanent magnet(IPM) type BLDC with high efficiency and high power in electric motion vehicle is increasing. This paper presents the design of the BLBC motor for EHPS(Electro-Hydraulic Power Steering) in 42V system and verified the characteristics by simulation and test results.

  • 연비절감 및 조향감 향상을 위한 EHPS 시스템은 엔진 동력 기반의 HPS(Hydraulic Power Steering)시스템과는 달리 탈 엔진형 조향 기술로써 동력원인 BLDC 모터, 고압펌프 일체형 모듈, 상용 HPS 시스템의 기본 유압회로, 조향계 시스템 및 BLDC 모터를 제어하고 최적 조향력을 생성하기 위한 로직이 포함된 ECU로 구성되며. 주요구성 모듈은 펌프부, 모터부, 제어부로 분류된다. 본 논문에서는 펌프부의 외접형 Gear펌프의 시제품 제작하였고 구동토크 측정실험의 Data를 통해 기존 EHPS용 Gear펌프와 비교평가를 하였다.

  • Most commercial vehicles have adopted the hydraulic power steering system. To reduce fuel consumption and to improve steering controllability, a hybrid electric power steering system is being developed for commercial vehicles. In this study, the HILS (Hardware In the Loop Simulation) system equipped with a commercial vehicle hybrid electric power steering system was developed and the vehicle dynamic performance of a truck with the steering system was evaluated. The hybrid electric power steering system is composed of the EHPS motor pump, column mounted EPS system, and ball nut steering gear box for heavy commercial vehicles. The accuracy of vehicle models equipped with the HILS system was verified with comparisons between the simulation results and field test results. The road reaction forces of the steering system were generated from the vehicle model and verified using field test results. Step steering tests using the verified HILS system were carried out and the performance of a newly developed commercial vehicle hybrid electric power steering system was evaluated.

  • For high fuel economy, many kinds of unit in vehicle have been developed. In steering system, as a result, HPS(Hydraulic Power Steering) system has been replaced as EHPS and EPS system. But the structures of these systems are totally different, and that causes the uncertainty of fuel economy evaluation. Therefore we undertake to research to find results and tendency of fuel economy and energy in steering system. For accurate evaluation, we modeled different types of steering systems on same vehicle model. The simulation came into action on various driving cycle. The driving condition is designed to show standby power of pump. Results show differences of fuel efficiency and energy consumption.

  • This paper reports on theoretical study of the compression process within balanced type vane pump for Electro-Hydraulic Power Steering(EHPS). Equations fo camring profiles are derived, then displacements, velocities, accelerations, and jerks are calculated. Vane side leakages, vane slit leakages, and rotor side leakages are considered and calculated. Numerical integration of flow equation is performed using 4th Runge-Kutta method. As a result of analysis, it is found that chamber pressure depends on rotational speeds, bulk modulus of fluid, notches, camring profiles, and positions of delivery port. Especially, the variation of notch area is the most important factor that prevents pressure from rapid rising.

  • The explosion of a nuclear weapon radiates a gamma-ray in the form of a transient pulse. If the gamma-ray introduces to semiconductor devices, much Electron-Hole Pairs(EHPs) are generated in depletion region of the devices[7]. as a consequence of that, high photocurrent is created and causes upset, latchup and burnout of semiconductor devices[8]. This phenomenon is known for Transient Radiation Effects on Electronics(TREE), also called dose-rate effects. In this paper 3D structure of inverter and NAND gate device was designed and transient pulse gamma-ray was modeled. So simulation for transient radiation effect on inverter and NAND gate was accomplished and mechanism for upset and latchup was analyzed.
