Design of an Energy Efficient XOR-XNOR Circuit (에너지 효율이 우수한 XOR-XNOR 회로 설계)

  • XOR(exclusive-OR)-XNOR(exclusive NOR) circuit is a basic component of 4-2 compressor for high performance arithmetic operation. In this paper we propose an energy efficient XOR-XNOR circuit. The proposed circuit is reduced the internal parasitic capacitance in critical path and implemented with 8 transistors. The circuit produces a perfect output signals for all input combinations. Compared with the previous circuits, the proposed circuit has a 14.5% reduction in propagation delay time and a 1.7% increase in power consumption. Therefore, the proposed XOR-XNOR is reduced power-delay- product (PDP) by 13.1% and energy-delay-product (EDP) by 26.0%. The proposed circuits are implemented with standard CMOS 0.18um technology and verified through SPICE simulation with 1.8V supply voltage.

Pollution and Ecological Risk Assessment of Trace Metals in Surface Sediments of the Ulsan-Onsan Coast (울산-온산연안 표층퇴적물 내 미량금속 오염도 및 생태위해성 평가)

  • Total acid digestion and 1 M HCl extraction methods were used to investigate the pollution status and the degree of ecological risk of trace metals in surface sediments from the Ulsan-Onsan coast. Total concentrations of trace metals (Cu, Cd, Pb, Zn, and Hg) were two-fold higher in surface sediments from Onsan coast than in those from Ulsan coast. The mean labile fractions of the total concentrations of Cd and Pb were 72% and 78%, respectively, indicating a high contribution from anthropogenic sources, whereas Cr, Li, Ni, and As in the residual fraction exceeded 80%, indicating a high contribution from natural sources. According to the results of assessment of trace metal pollution using the sediment quality guidelines in Korea, the concentrations of Cu, Pb, Zn, and Hg were higher than the values of the probable effects level (PEL) at some stations of Onsan coast, and the concentrations of Cr and Ni were lower than the values of the threshold effects level (TEL). The pollution level and ecological risk of the trace metals were analyzed using various indexes (EF, $I_{geo}$, m-PEL-Q, and ERI). Our results showed that the degree of pollution by trace metals (Cu, Cd, Pb, Zn, and Hg) on the Ulsan-Onsan coast was high, and Hg and Cd were the major potential ecological risk factors.

Normal Limits of Left Ventricular Volumes and Ejection Fraction Measured by Gated Myocardial Perfusion SPECT: Comparison of Tc-99m MIBI and Tl-201 (심근 게이트 SPECT로 측정한 좌심실 용적과 구혈률의 정상 값 확립: Tl-201과 Tc-99m MIBI 게이트 SPECT의 비교)

  • Purpose: We evaluated radioisotope and sex-specific differences of normal limits for left ventricle volumes (LWs) and ejection fraction (EF) using myocardial perfusion gated SPECT (g-SPECT). Materials and Methods: Rest Tl-201/post-stress Tc-99m MIBI g-SPECT measurements with acquisitions of 8-frame were evaluated for 70 patients (mean age $55{\pm}14.56%$ female) who either had < 10% pretest likelihood of CAD (n = 12) or had normal coronary angiography (EF > 50%) (n = 58). LVEF, LWs were automatically determined by quantitative gated SPECT using QGS program. Results: Similar results were obtained for mean LVEF between Tc-99m MIBI ($62%{\pm}7%$ and Tl-201 ($63%{\pm}8%$) g-SPECT measurements. In Contrast, Tl-201 g-SPECT had significantly lower LWs values ($EDV;\;74{\pm}23mL,\;ESV;\;28{\pm}14mL$) than Tc-99m MIBI g-SPECT ($EDV;\;82{\pm}25mL,\;ESV;\;32{\pm}15mL$) (p<0.05). Women had significantly lower EDV ($Tc-99m\;MIBI;\;71{\pm}18mL,\;Tl-201;\;65{\pm}17mL$), and ESV values ($Tc-99m\;MIBI;\;27{\pm}10mL,\;Tl-201;\;23{\pm}8mL$) compared with EDV ($Tc-99m\;MIBI;\;96{\pm}27mL,\;Tl-201;\;85{\pm}24mL$), and ESV Values ($Tc-99m\;MIBI;\;40{\pm}17mL,\;Tl-201;\;36{\pm}16mL$) of men (p<0.05). Women had significantly higher LV EF Values ($65%{\pm}7%$) than men ($60%{\pm}8%$) by Tl-201 gated SPECT (p<0.05). Conclusion: These data suggest significant differeuces in normal limits for LWs and EF, according to genders and radiopharmaceutical. Therefore, the evaluation of cardiac function in patients should consider radioisotope and sex-matched normal values.

Comparison Study between Myocardial Velocity obtained from Gated Myocardial SPECT and Myocardial Functional indices with a Focus on Myocardial Perfusion (게이트 심근 관류 SPECT에서 구한 심근 속도와 심근 관류를 중심으로 한 심근 기능 지표와의 비교연구)

  • Purpose: We aimed to assess the myocardial velocity on gated myocardial perfusion SPECT (gated MPS), to compare myocardial velocity between patients without coronary artery disease (CAD) and CAD patients and to assess the correlation of myocardial velocity and perfusion and wall thickening on CAD group. Materials and Methods: Seventeen patients without CAD (M:F=9:8, mean age $61.8{\pm}11.1$ yrs: group A) and thirty-nine patients with CAD (M:F=18:21, mean age $66.9{\pm}8.1$ yrs : group B) had undergone one-day adenosine stress gated MPS. In twenty segment model, 12 segments (except apical and basal segments) of each patient were included. We obtained systolic and diastolic gate ratio in left ventricular volume curve by eight frames per cardiac cycle on gated MPS. Using the systolic and diastolic gate ratio and R-R time of each patient, we obtained systolic and diastolic time ratio. The myocardial velocity was defined as wall thickening over systolic or diastolic time. Results: We presented normal range of myocardial velocities according segments and territories of coronary artery. The myocardial velocity of group B was significantly lower than group A (p=0.00). There was no significant difference between the myocardial velocity of group B with preserved EF and group A. The stress systolic velocity significantly correlated with regional myocardial perfusion in group B with preserved EF (p=0.00) as well as decreased EF (p=0.01). In group B, stress perfusion of segments which had decreased wall thickening and decreased myocardial velocity was significantly lower than segments which had decreased wall thickening and preserved myocardial velocity (p=0.01). Conclusion: The new functional index of velocity will be used as an useful of gated MPS.

  • This study focused on analysis of the satisfaction level of specialty shops for environment-friendly agricultural products (EFAP). To analyze the satisfaction level of EF AP, a series of household surveys were conducted. Questionnaire was prepared on the basis of the SERVQUAL model and the structural equation modeling was made on the basis of the contents surveyed. The main results of this study are summarized as follows. Firstly, tangibles structured with store clearance, neat uniform, information and others is the factor of service quality satisfaction. Secondly, reliability structured with service practice, problem solving, and service in accurate time is the factor of service quality satisfaction. Thirdly, assurance structured with the reliability of employees, sufficient knowledge of employees, courteous and good manner is the factor of service quality satisfaction. Fourthly, responsiveness structured with prompt service, voluntary help, customer response service and the like is the factor of service quality satisfaction. Fifthly, the sympathy structured in interest for each customer, provision of service in time convenient to use, encountering the customers with genuine feeling are the factors of service quality satisfaction. And sixthly, the service satisfaction factors would influence on the consumer behavior factors.

A Study on the Architectural Construction of Balenciaga's works (Balenciaga의 작품에 나타난 건축적 형태미에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to identify the architectural construction of Balenciaga's works. He was perfectionist in tailoring which was based on architectural thought, and couturier who could design, cut, sew and fit a whole gar-ment. Balenciaga has never followed any fashion trend but his own. He designed from within himself, according to his own sensitivity to fashion. Like Chanel, he mad clothes in which women can be comfortable, move in, and get on and off with a minimum of effort. He ap-plied radical shapes to flattering ends, for his clothes echoed movements and gestures, never determined them. He achieved the perfect harmony between the body and the garment, freeing the spirit of the woman within. Reflec-tion his respect for women, Balenciaga never contorted or restriced their bodies. He did not depend on hoops and petticoats to hold out the skirts of his evening dresses but on well-balanced, architectural construction. Therefore in order to identify the architec-tural consturuction, this study hypothesizes (1) the effect of mass and volume, (2) the ef-fect of weight and support, (3) the effect of complexity and simplicity, (4) the effect of line and rhythm etc. The architectural beauty of form in Balenciaga's works are especially based on simplicity and support.

A Study on Thermodynamic Properties of Ethylene Gas Hydrate

  • The gas hydrates are probably most sensitive to climate change since they are stable only under specific conditions of high pressure and low temperature. One of the main factors responsible for formation of gas hydrates is the saturation of the gases with water vapor. Quantitative phase equilibrium data and understanding of the roles of water component in the phase behavior of the heterogeneous water-hydrocarbon-hydrate mixture are of importance and of engineering value. In this study, the water content of ethylene gas in equilibrium with hydrate and water phases were analyzed by theoretical and experimental methods at temperatures between 274.15 up to 291.75 K and pressures between 593.99 to 8,443.18 kPa. The experimental and theoretical enhancement factors (EF) for the water content of ethylene gas and the fugacity coefficients of water and ethylene in gas phase were determined and compared with each other over the entire range of pressure carried out in this experiment. In order to get the theoretical enhancement factors, the modified Redlich-Kwong equation of state was used. The Peng-Robinson equations and modified Redlich-Kwong equations of state were used to get the fugacity coefficients for ethylene and water in the gas phase. The results predicted by both equations agree very well with the experimental values for the fugacity coefficients of the compressed ethylene gas containing small amount of water, whereas, those of water vapor do not in the ethylene rich gas at high temperature for hydrate formation locus.

The effect of country-of-origin on the product evaluation and its relation to the consumer characteristics (원산지가 상품 평가에 미치는 영향 및 소비자 특성과의 관계)

  • The country-of-origin may be used as surro-gate indicator when the consumers do not have confidence on quality evaluation. Since the global sourcing is getting popular in inter-national textile and apparel production the ef-fect of country-of-origin should be examined. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of country-of-origin on product evaluation and its relation to the consumer characteristics. A questionnaire was distribu-ted to 524 respondents aged 18 through 35. The results indicated that the country-of-ori-gin had significant influence on quality evalu-ation. Furthermore product components such as design price fabric and workmanship were also influenced by the country-of-origin. Price was perceived as more affected variable by country-of-origin than design fabric and work-manship. The interest in country-of-origin was different according to the consumer charac-teristics. Among demographics age and in-come turned out to be significant variables to determine the interest in country-of-origin. Shopping habits of respondents such as pur-chasing price of polo-style knit shirt the place to purchase that shirt the number of shirts they have were significantly different accord-ing to the interest in country=-of-origin. The re-spondent had higher interest in country-of-ori-gin were more fashion-conscious more confi-dent on clothing purchase more brand loyal and more sensitive to price of clothin.

Comparison of Expression Pattern of Housekeeping Genes in Mice fed Genetically Modified Rice (유전자 이입에 따른 GM쌀 섭취 마우스의 Housekeeping Gene 발현 패턴 비교)

  • To evaluate the human risk of long-term intake of genetically modified (GM) rice, we carried out RT-PCR of housekeeping genes. Housekeeping genes, which show highly uniform expression in living organisms during various stages of development and under different environmental conditions, were normalized by RT-PCR. We assessed the expression of 10 common housekeeping genes (18s rRNA, 25S rRNA, UBC, UBQ5, UBQ10, ACT11, GAPDH, eEF-$1{\alpha}$, ${\beta}$-TUB, GAPDH, ${\beta}$-actin, B2m, G6pd2, Gyk, Gus, Hprt, Cyclophlin A, Tfrc, ${\alpha}$-tubulin and RPL13A) in the liver, stomach, small intestine, large intestine, kidney and spleen of mice fed GM or non-GM rice. We found no significant differences in the expression of housekeeping genes between the two groups of mice.

Evaluation of Cardiac Function by Transthoracic Echocardiography in Patients with Myocardial Injury Secondary to Organophosphate Poisoning (유기인계 중독에 의한 심근손상 환자에서의 경흉부 심장 초음파검사를 사용한 심장기능평가)

  • Purpose: Cardiac complications may occur in cases of organophosphate (OP) poisoning. However, a few studies regarding patterns of cardiac toxicity as determined by transthoracic echocardiography (TTE) after exposure to OP have been reported. In the current study, the authors examined cardiac functions using TTE in patients with myocardial injury caused by exposure to OP. Methods: A retrospective review was conducted on 16 consecutive cases of OP poisoning with myocardial injury (defined as elevated troponin I within 48 hours of arrival at the regional emergency center in South Korea and diagnosed and treated at the center from January 2012 to November 2014. Results: TTE was performed in 11 (69%) of the 16 patients with an elevated troponin I (TnI) level within 48 hours. Of these 11 patients, 5 patients (45.5%) exhibited reduced ejection fraction (EF), and 3 exhibited regional wall motion abnormality (RWMA). Two patients (18.2%) had both reduced systolic function and RWMA. Two of the 5 patients with reduced EF returned to normal systolic function, however two patients did not regain normal systolic function after admission. One patient expired due to multiple organ failure, and 4 patients were transferred with a moribund status. Twelve of 15 patients who survived to discharge (at 4 to 35 months) were followed. Five of these patients died during follow-up and 7 survived without further complications. Conclusion: OP can cause reversible cardiac dysfunction including reduced systolic function and RWMA. Serum TnI may be useful for initial assessment of cardiac function during the workup of patients suffering from OP poisoning. After the initial assessment of cardiac enzyme, further evaluation with TTE in patients with abnormal cardiac enzyme will be necessary to understand the cardiac toxicity.
