Classification of Query E-Mail Using Neural Network (신경망을 이용한 사용자 질의 전자 메일 분류)

  • More and more users are using the query e-mail according to the increment of use of internet. The operator of internet site desires the users to check the FAQ and Q&A contents first before sending the query e-mail to the operator However the users try to get the solution for a problem easily by simply sending a query e-mail. Therefore the increment of query e-mail is inevitable, and the site operator is suffering from too heavy loads and spending too much time and cost to reply the query e-mail. In this paper, we are proposing an efficient method of classifying the query e-mail of users automatically by using a neural network. To verify the reasonability of our work, the query e-mails of KORNET are used as the test data, which is actually gathered in KT. A total of 210 learning data and 280 test data were used to test the performance of the proposed approach. From the experiments we got the encouraging result from the view point of application in real life. The proposed approach satisfied the request of users who wanted rapid response for their query e-mail.

Development and Usage of Interactive Digital Linear Algebra Textbook (대화형 수학 디지털교과서 개발과 활용 사례 연구 - 선형대수학을 중심으로-)

  • The 4th industrial revolution is coming. In order to prepare for the new learning environment with it, we may need digital mathematics textbooks that fully utilize all possible technologies. So various attempts have been made in elementary and middle school mathematics education. However, despite the importance of higher mathematics, we haven't seen a best possible math digital textbooks yet in Korea. In this paper, we introduce our new model of interactive math digital textbook about Linear Algebra/ Calculus/ Differential Equations/ Statistics/ Engineering Math. Especially, this manuscript focuses on our experience of using digital contents and interactive labs for developing a new model for linear algebra digital textbook. We introduce our works on linear algebra digital textbooks which include pdf e-book, web contents, video clips of lectures, interactive lab. Using this linear algebra digital textbook, students can freely use any mobile devices to access diverse learning materials, lessons, and hands-on exercises without any limitations. Also, times saved in the computation, coding, and typing process can be used to have more discussions for deeper understanding of mathematical concepts. This type of linear algebra digital textbook, which contains all interactive free cyber-lab with codes and all lectures for each sections, can be considered as a new model for the next generation of math digital textbook.

An analysis of the current state of cross-curricular learning topics in mathematics textbooks for grades 5 and 6 (2015 개정 교육과정에 따른 5~6학년군 수학 검정 교과서의 범교과 학습 주제 반영 현황 분석)

  • In order to prepare for changes in future society, cross-curricular learning is emphasized, and the need to link cross-curricular learning topics and subjects is increasing. However, there are few studies on how to deal with cross-curricular learning in mathematics education. This study analyzed the contents and methods of cross-curricular learning topics in subject-specific curriculum and mathematics textbooks. As a result of the study, the curriculum can be categorized into four types according to the variety of cross-curricular learning topics applied and the presence or absence of a main cross-curricular learning topic, and the mathematics curriculum belongs to the type where some cross-curricular learning topics are dealt with passively and there is no main topic. On the other hand, the analysis of 10 math textbooks for grades 5 and 6 according to the 2015 revised curriculum showed that, unlike the curriculum, various cross-curricular learning topics were applied in the textbooks, mainly environment and sustainable development education, safety and health education, career education, character education, and economic and financial education. In addition, in mathematics textbooks, cross-curricular learning topics appeared in various types such as materials, questions, explanations, illustrations, and in many cases, they appeared mainly as materials or illustrations. Based on these findings, implications were explored and suggested on how to integrate and apply cross-curricular learning topics in mathematics.

Cognitive-Enhancing Effect of Dianthus superbus var. Longicalycinus on Scopolamine-Induced Memory Impairment in Mice

  • Dianthus superbus (D. superbus) is a traditional crude drug used for the treatment of urethritis, carbuncles and carcinomas. The objective of this study was to confirm the cognitive enhancing effect of D. superbus in memory impairment induced mice and to elucidate the possible potential mechanism. Effect of D. superbus on scopolamine induced memory impairment on mice was evaluated using the Morris water maze and passive avoidance tests. We also investigated acetylcholinesterase (AChE) activity and brain-derived neurotropic factor (BDNF) expression in scopolamine-induced mice. HPLC-DAD analysis was performed to identify active compounds in D. superbus. The results revealed that D. superbus attenuated the learning and memory impairment induced by scopolamine. D. superbus also inhibited AChE levels in the hippocampi of the scopolamine-injected mice. Moreover, D. superbus increased BDNF expression in the hippocampus. Eight compounds were identified using HPLC-DAD analysis. The content of 4-hydroxyphenyl acetic acid was higher than contents of other compounds. These results indicated that D. superbus improved memory functioning accompanied by inhibition of AChE and upregulation of BDNF, suggesting that D. superbus may be a useful therapeutic agent for the prevention or treatment of Alzheimer's disease.

A Comparison of Korean EFL Learners' Oral and Written Productions

  • The purpose of the present study is to compare Korean EFL learners' speech corpus (i.e. oral productions) with their composition corpus (i.e. written productions). Four college students participated in the study. The composition corpus was collected through a writing assignment, and the speech corpus was gathered by audio-taping their oral presentations. The results of the data analysis indicate that (i) As for error frequency, young adult low-intermediate Korean EFL learners showed high frequency in determiners (mostly, indefinite articles), vocabulary (mostly, semantic errors), and prepositions. The frequency order did not show much difference between the speech corpus and the composition corpus; and (ii) When comparing the oral productions with the written productions, there were not many differences between them in terms of the contents, a style (i.e., colloquial vs. literary), vocabulary selection, and error types and frequency. Therefore, it is assumed that the proficiency in oral presentation of EFL learners at this learning stage heavily depends on how much/how well they are able to write. In other words, EFL learners' writing and speaking skills are closely co-related. It implies that the teacher does not need to separate teaching how to speak from teaching how to write. The teacher may use the same methods or strategies to help the learners improve their English speaking and writing skills. Furthermore, it will be more effective to teach writing before speaking since they have more opportunities to write than speak in the EFL contexts.

An Ontology-Based Method for Calculating the Difficulty of a Learning Content (온톨로지 기반 학습 콘텐츠의 난이도 계산 방법)

  • Much research has been conducted on the e-learning systems for recommending a learning content to a student based on the difficulty of it. The difficulty is one of the most important factors for selecting a learning content. In the existing learning content recommendation systems, the difficulty of a learning content is determined by the creator. Therefore, it is not easy to apply a standard rule to the difficulty as it is determined by a subjective method. In this paper, we propose an ontology-based method for determining the difficulty of a learning content in order to provide an objective measurement. Previously, ontologies and knowledge maps have been used to recommend a learning content. However, their methods have the same problem because the difficulty is also determined by the creator. In this research, we use an ontology representing the IS-A relationships between words. The difficulty of a learning content is the sum of the weighted path lengths of the words in the learning content. By using this kind of difficulty, we can provide an objective measurement and recommend the proper learning content most suitable for the student's current level.

Center-based Shared Route Decision Algorithms for Multicasting Services (멀티캐스트 서비스를 위한 센터기반 공유형 경로 지정 방법)

  • Recently, with the IPTV services, e-learning, real-time broadcasting and e-contents, many application services need the multicasting routing protocol. In this paper, the performance of the algorithm to assign the rendezvous router (RP: rendezvous point) in the center-based multicasting mesh network is analyzed. The estimated distance to select RP in the candidate nodes is calculated, and the node minimizing the distance is selected as the optimal RP. We estimate the distance by using the maximum distance, average distance, and mean of the maximum and average distance between the RP and members. The performance of the algorithm is compared with the optimal algorithm of all enumeration. With the assumptions of mesh network and randomly positioned for sources and members, the simulations for different parameters are studied. From the simulation results, the performance deviation between the algorithm with minimum cost and optimal method is evaluated as 6.2% average.

The Development and Effects of STEAM Programs based on Engineering for Young Children (유아를 위한 공학중심 융합인재교육(E-STEAM)프로그램의 개발 및 효과)

  • The purpose of this study was to develop the E-STEAM program emphasizing the engineering design process and apply them to young children to examine their effects on scientific problem-solving ability and communication ability. In order to develop the E-STEAM program, activities were organized by reviewing previous studies and websites related to STEAM and engineering education. The organized activities were selected as final activities after consulting with experts. To examine the effectiveness of the program, 50 subjects(experimental group: 25, control group:25) participated in K kindergarten in G city. The experimental group took part in the E-STEAM activities during 7 weeks, while the control group took part in the traditional science activities. The procedure for this study consisted of a pre-study, a pre-test, the treatment, and a post-test schedule. The results of this study were as follows: First, the experimental group showed significantly higher score than the control group in total problem-solving ability. Second, the experimental group showed significantly higher score than the control group in total communication ability. These findings suggest that the experience of E-STEAM activities for young children can be effective teaching-learning methods for young children's problem solving ability and communication ability.

A Study on an Efficient Web Interface Design for Improving Education Effects on Cyber Spaces (사이버 교육효과 향상을 위한 효과적인 웹 인터페이스 디자인 방안 연구)

  • Recently, the number of People who want to study by online has been gradually increased. In addition, people's desire is increasing that represents their special knowledge and personality with new paradigm of UCC(User Created Contents). Most of the educational web-sites offer currently boring and unified educational contents without interesting objects. Therefore I want to solve these problems of existing online educational web-sites and I strongly propose the method of design to make the place educational and useful that everyone can enjoy and manifest the user's dispositions. On this study, it's possible to make pleasant environment and improve educational effects on cyber space by designing it in accordance with the individual tastes which have various design elements, beauties and facilities by the customized design method. As a result, this study proposes the model of online educational web-site having various interfaces and focusing on the customized design.

  • The Knowledge and information are rapidly built through networks; and, through this, epochal changes and developments are reoccurring in diverse societal economic cultural ways. Especially, digital-education emerging together with educational environment changes is taking its place as an educational system which will be able to replace traditional education methods by overcoming the limitations of time and space held by present education methods. The role of GUI(Graphic User Interface) design, which adds user cognitive power and convenience as a method of purveying innumerous information, is growing. Consequently in this research, through the analysis of educational contents utilized in public organizations, research is performed regarding an educational content design for a more effective education of learners.
