Parameter Evaluation of High-Power Pulse Transformer for L-Band 30-MW Klystron (L-band 30-MW 클라이스트론용 고출력 펄스트랜스포머의 파라미터 평가)

  • An L-band Linear Accelerator System for E-beam sterilization is under construction for bio-technology application. The klystron-modulator system as an RF microwave source has an important role as major components to offer the system reliability for long time steady-state operations. A PFN line type pulse generator with a peak power of 71.5-MW, $7\;{\mu}s$, 285 pps is required to drive a high-power klystron. The high power pulse transformer has a function of transferring pulse energy from a pulsed power source to a high power load. The pulse transformer producing a pulse with a peak voltage of 275 kV is required to produce 30-MW peak and 60 kW average RF output power at the frequency of 1.3-GHz. We have designed the high power pulse transformer with 1:13 step-up ratio. The peak and average power capability is 71.5-MW (275 kV, 260 A at load side with $7\;{\mu}s$ pulse width) and 130 kW, respectively. In this paper, we present measurements and its analysis on the design parameters, and an initial test result as well as a design concept on the high-power pulse transformer.

Thermoelectric power and resistivity of the Sr$_{1-x}K_xBiO_3$ superconductor

  • We have measured the temperature dependence of thermoelectric power (TEP) and resistivity for the Sr$_{1-x}K_xBiO_3$ superconductor (x=0.45-0.6). At T=10.2K, the resisitivity starts to increase from zero and a rather broad superconducting phase transition (${\Delta}$T ${\sim}$ 2.3K) is observed. TEP at room temperature has a small negative value ( S =-1.96${\mu}$V/K), characteristic of metallic-like TEP. The temperature dependence of TEP shows two distinct features. With decreasing temperature from room temperature, the absolute value of TEP decreases and the sign of TEP changes from negative to positive around 200k. Also, the negative slope of TEP(dS/dT) decreases substantially and becomes rather flat at around 160k, which is a feature already noted in Ba$_{1-x}K_xBiO_3$[1].

  • In this paper, the $\Phi$-q-n pattern and average discharge power of silicone rubber have investigated effect of inter impurities. It's changed impurities by silicone oil, water and copper. Applied voltage is AC 3, 4, 4.5, 5, 5.5[kV]. And data acquisition time is 10 second(600 cycles). These results suggest that partial discharge(PD) is shower negative polar than positive polar at 3[kV]. Positive polar's PD value increased with increase of applied voltage. The Conductivities expressed same $\Phi$-q-n pattern in positive polar and negative polar at phase region.

  • Novel photochromic oxide glasses are presented in this section. These glasses are based on phosphate formers containing both tungsten and antimony atoms. Exposure to visible continuous or pulsed laser beam results in an intense photochromic effect witch is shown to occur in the volume of the glass and results in a broad absorption band in the visible and near infrared. This effect was not identified to be related with a structural change and is assumed to be entirely electronic. A change in the absorption coefficient is observed in function of tungsten content, exposure time and increases with beam power. These glasses have been investigated regarding the possibility of holographic data storage using visible lasers sources. Changes in both refractive index and the absorption coefficient were measured using a holographic setup. The modulation of the optical constants is reversible by heat treatment.

  • A modified direct bonding technique employing a wet chemical deposition of $SiO_2$ film on a wafer surface to be bonded is proposed for the fabrication of Si-$SiO_2$-Si structures. Structural and electrical quality of the bonded wafers is studied. Satisfied insulating properties of interfacial $SiO_2$ layers are demonstrated. Elastic strain caused by surface morphology is investigated. The diminution of strain in the grooved structures is semi-quantitatively interpreted by a model considering the virtual defects distributed over the interfacial region.

  • This paper deals with a novel 3-phase power quality disturbance generator. The proposed generator can be applied to the performance that of custom power devices. Voltage sag, swell, outage unbalance and phase shift are provided by the generator. The control scheme for the disturbance generation is simple, and hardware setup is cost effective compared with conventional scheme. The operating principle of the generator is described and the usefulness verified through simulation with 10kVA power rating.

  • This paper analyses the arc-energy with joint box type through a field test on underground power OF cable. In order to obtain the data, the actual proof test using short-circuit generation for real scale power transmission tunnel carried out. This paper is expected to contribute the fire accident prevention on underground power cable systems and the believability improvement of electric power facilities.

  • This paper presents a power transfer capability calculation algorithm Considering Voltage Stability Margin. In this method, voltage stability margin constraints are incorporated into a power transfer capability formulation to guarantee adequate voltage security levels in interconnected Power System. The proposed method is applied to IEEE-24 Reliability Test Systems and the results shows the effectiveness of the method.

  • We are interested in this paper on the control of an electromechanical system consisting of a doubly-fed induction generator(DFIG), driven by a prime mover that can supply or extract mechanical power, e.g., a flywheel inertia, and an induction motor(IM). The stator of the Induction machine is connected to the stator of the generator whose rotor voltage is regulated by a bidirectional converter. The main interest of this configuration is that it permits a bidirectional power flow between the motor, which may operate in regenerative mode, and the generator We propose a passivity-based controller to regulate the motor mechanical speed. Since this kind of controllers achieve stabilization via energy balancing, regulation of the power flow in the system is naturally incorporated. Simulation results are presented to illustrate the main points of our paper.

  • This paper describes a new notches generator for the test of custom power devices such as UPS, DVR, Active Power Filter, etc. The magnitude, width, polarity, and position of the notches generated by the proposed scheme can be varied with simple control. The scheme has good features of simple structure, high reliability, and the capability of arbitrary several notches generation. The circuit operation is described and the usefulness of the scheme is verified through simulations.
