  • Trap-assisted-tunneling (TAT) degrades subthreshold slope of real-world tunneling field-effect-transistors (TFET) and it should be considered in the simulation. However, its mechanism is not very well understood in line tunneling type L-shaped TFET (LTFET). This study investigates TAT mechanism in LTFETs using dynamic nonlcoal Schenk model. Both phonon assisted and direct band to trap tunneling events are considered in this study.

  • In this paper, the microcontroller TCP/IP NIE(Network Interface Equipment) which is exclusive of an operating system is implemented and the applied example to a step motor motion controller is then explained. The microcontroller TCP/IP NIE supplies a DHCP(Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) as well as basic TCP/IP network protocols. So, the automatic setting up of the Dynamic If(Internet Protocol) is possible. To implement a control of a system with an internet, the microcontroller TCP/IP NIE is applied to a step motor motion controller and a step motor is then controlled with a Microsoft Windows-based Telnet application program.

  • Masonry is not a simple material, the influence of mortar joints as a plane of weakness is a significant feature and this makes the numerical modelling of masonry very difficult especially when dynamic (seismic) analysis is involved. In order to develop a simple numerical model for masonry under earthquake load, an analytical model based on Distinct Element Method (DEM) is being developed. At the first stage, the model is applied to simulate the in-plane shear behaviour of an unreinforced masonry wall with and without opening where the testing results are available for comparison. In DEM, a solid is represented as an assembly of discrete blocks. Joints are modelled as interface between distinct bodies. It is a dynamic process and specially designed to model the behaviour of discontinuities. The numerical solutions obtained from the distinct element analysis are validated by comparing the results with those obtained from existing experiments and finite element modelling.

  • This paper proposes the use of advanced generator models in the studies of Korean power systems to accurately represent the dynamic behaviors of synchronous generators and thus to achieve a better match between transient stability simulations and reality. In the paper, GENTPF and GENTPJ models are described which have appeared over the last decade in the WECC system. Those advanced models are compared with conventional synchronous generator models such as GENROU and GENSAL, which have been used in dynamic studies of Korean power systems. The advancements are investigated by recognizing the differences in block diagram, saturation modeling, and network interface equations. Simulation comparisons between conventional and advanced models in Korean power systems are then provided. Clear distinctions identified in the simulation results demonstrate the necessity of the use of advanced generator models in Korean power system.

  • A dynamic laser light scattering system has been constructed using a personal computer. The intensity of the scattered light was detected with a photomultiplier tube and a photon counter. The BCD output of the photon counter which is proportional to the intensity of scattered light is fed into a personal computer via an interface card. The personal computer was programmed as an autocorrelator in machine language. The data acquisition rate of the system was about 600 samples/s which is adequate for studies on the molecular dynamics of concentrated polymer solutions, polymer latices with large particle size, and polymer glass systems. The constructed system was tested with polystyrene latex and the measured diameter of the latex particle agrees well with the supplier's value.

  • Analysis of a framed structure for vertical vibration requires a lot of computational efforts because large number of degrees of freedom are generally involved in the dynamic responses. This paper presents an efficient modeling technique for vertical vibration utilizing substructuring technique and super elements. To simplify the modeling procedure each floor in a structure is modeled as a substructure. Only the vertical translational degrees of freedom are selected as master degrees of freedom in the inside of each substructure. At the substructure-column interface, horizontal and rotational degrees of freedom are also included considering the compatibility condition of slabs and columns. For further simplification, the repeated parts in a substructure are modeled as super elements, which reduces computation time required for the construction of system matrices in a substructure. Finally, the Guyan reduction technique is applied to enhance the efficiency of dynamic analysis. In numerical examples, the efficiency and accuracy of the proposed method are demonstrated by comparing the response time histories and the analysis time.

  • Floating inverter amplifiers (FIAs) have recently garnered considerable attention owing to their high energy efficiency and inherent resilience to input common-mode voltages and process-voltage-temperature variations. Since the voltage gain of a simple FIA is low, it is typically cascaded or cascoded to achieve a higher voltage gain. However, cascading poses stability concerns in closed-loop applications, while cascoding limits the output swing. This study introduces a gain-enhanced FIA that features cross-coupled body biasing. Through simulations, it is demonstrated that the proposed FIA designed using a 28-nm complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor technology with a 1-V power supply can achieve a high voltage gain (> 90 dB) suitable for dynamic open-loop applications. The proposed FIA can also be used as a closed-loop amplifier by adjusting the amount of positive feedback due to the cross-coupled body biasing. The capability of achieving a high gain with minimum-length devices makes the proposed FIA a promising candidate for low-power, high-speed sensor interface systems.

Concerning human factor analysis, the study demonstrates that DYLAM methodology represents an appropriate tool to study man-machine behavior provided that DYLAM is used to model machine behavior and an appropriate operator interface human factor model is included. A hybrid model which is a synthesis of the DYLAM model, a system thermodynamic simulation model and a neural network predicative model, is implemented and used to analyze dynamically the CANDU pressurizer system.
