Comparison of Voice Assessment by Dr. Speech Science and Psychoacoustic Examination (Dr. Speech Science를 이용한 객관적인 음성평가와 청각심리적 음성평가와의 상관관계에 대한 연구)

  • 객관적인 검사도구인 Dr. Speech Science(DSS)의 음성평가 결과가 갖는 의미를 알아보고자 이 연구를 하였다. 성대결절환자 여자 성인 25명을 대상으로 DSS를 이용한 음성평가와 청각심리적 검사방법인 GRBAS와의 관계를 비교 분석하였다. 청각심리적 검사인 GRBAS의 0, 1, 2, 3의 각 Grade에 따라 DSS의 음성평가의 결과와 비교하였다. DSS의 음성평가 결과로서 Grade가 0, 1, 2인 경우 총 15례중 1례를 제외한 모든 경우에 있어서 hoarseness, harshness, breathiness항목에서 정상소견을 나타냈으며 Grade가 3인 경우에는 총 10례 중 6례에서 hoarseness, harshness, breathiness항목에서 정상소견을 나머지 4례에서는 hoarseness에서 slight한 정도를 보여주었다.

Newly developed MSAP analysis reveals the different polymorphism patterns in transgenic tobacco plants with the dsRNA MET1 gene

  • DNA methylation is known to play an important role in the regulation of gene expression in eukaryotes. In this study, we isolated NtMET1 from Nicotiana tabacum cv. Havana (SR1) and obtain transgenic plants that reduced MET1 expression level with the double-strand RNA (dsRNA) MET1 gene. Transgenic tobacco plants showed dwarf and abnormal flower development when compared with the wild type. Using methylation-sensitive amplified polymorphism (MSAP) analysis, the patterns of cytosine methylation in transformed plants and the wild type were compared. MseI/HpaII selection primers showed an interesting polymorphism, and 153 DNA bands of interest were detected. Among these, 30 selective fragments were sequenced and analyzed with a BLAST search by successful MSAP modifications. The homology search showed that the transposons and tandem repeated sequences were related to the phenotypes. These results suggested that the decreased degree of methylation by dsRNA strategy caused abnormal growth and development in N. tabacum.

Infectious RNA Viruses in the Edible Mushroom Pleurotus spp.

  • Double-stranded RNA (dsRNA) viruses and single-stranded RNA(ssRNA) viruses were detected in a strain of Pleurotus mushroom cultivated in a farm. Those fungal virsus were purified in the pH 6.0 or pH 7.2 using CsCI or Cs$_{2}$SO$_{4}$ buoyant density centrifugation. Each viral particles were not completely separated at any trials. However, mushroom bacili-form virus contains a single major nucleic acid with 0.7 Kb ssRNA, which might code for 20 Kd viral capsid protein. The dsRNAs are encapsidatred into spherical-form viruses, whereas ssRNA viral genomes are encapsidated into two different sizes of bacili-form particles. A healthy-looking mushroom also contained some spherical-form viruses with dsRNAs. Laboratory strains of Pleurotus ostreatus and a cultivated strain of P. sajor-caju did not show any viral particles. Mushrooms with specific disease symptoms. however, contained at least four different sizes of spherical-form viruses. Thus, we concluded that a bacilli-form virus case a severe disease symptoms of adnormal on mushroom development.

  • The end-to-end service clock recovery is a critical issue in providing constandt bit rate service through ATM network. The Synchronous Residual Time Stamp(SRTS) algorithm is used to recovery the source clock using time stamp of transmitter. In thispaper, we propose a Differential Residual Time Stamp (DRTS) transmission mechanism to effectively deliver the timing information of source clock in SRTS algorithm. The RTS transmission method simple in its hardware. From the results of field trial of DS3 rate interactive video communication system through B-ISDN testbed, it can be identified that DRTS method is superior to the RTS method.

  • The paper first introduces the new concept of potential diversity and signal decomposability, which establish a foundaton to generalize the existing concepts of path and frequency diversities. Then it presents a new DS/CDMA system called chip-spreading OCDM system, which is an embodiment of the petential diversity concept that combines the path diversity of the DS/CDMA system and the frequency diversity of the OFDM/CDMA system. In the chip-spreading OCDM system the chip sequences in each symbol interval are first converted into aralled streams, which then simultaneously modulate different orthogonal Walsh basis functions. In the receiver, the received signal is matched to each extended basis-function which is the union of the transmitter basis-functions and their delayed replicas, and the matched-filtered chip samples are combined together after individual channel compensation. The conventional DS/CDMA system using the maximal ratio combining. In addition, it effectively resolves the high PAR and high sensitivity to frequency offset problems which are critical in multi-carrier systems.

  • In the mobile communication using DS-CDMA systems the problem of multiple user interference which reduce the performance is generated by multiple user access. In this paper to solve this problem we proposed the direct decision blind adaptive receiver with knowledge of only the desired user's spreading sequence. Simulation result present that the total user's power has equal gain The gain of signal to interference ratio for the proposed blind DD-LMS receiver has about 6[dB] than conventional receiver at additive white Gaussian noise and large gain at multipath channels. And when interference user's power has more large gain than desired user's power the gain of SIR for the proposed receiver has large value. And simulation result of bit error rate present that DD-LMS receiver has higher performance than LCCMA receiver. Thus the proposed blind DD-LMS receiver has robustness against interference of high power user and multipath channels.

  • Signal-to-interference ratio (SIR)-based dynamic code allocation method to be rioritized for handoff call is proposed and evaluated in a direct sequence-code division multiple access (DS-CDMA) cellular systm. Proposed method allocates a code to a mobile terminal according to the restidual capacity computed by SIR in the base station. We consider the voice activity detection to increase the system capacity. We evaluate the performance of proposed method with computer simulation. And the handoff decision function that controls handoff of mobile terminal is interodcued. The proposed method provide much improvement in the forced termination probability and handoff call fail probability.

  • The wordlength optimization for the analog-to-digital converter in DS-CDMA receivers is very important for the efficient implementation of front-end digital demodulator blocks. Wideband CDMA systems reqire a very fast acquisition time, thus they prefer the matched filter base dreceiver architecture.However, the matched filter should san very long chips, and as a results, requires a large number of gates and a high-power consumption. In this paper, the quantization effects on the acquisition performance of the matched filter is analyzed stochastically. The quantization is modeled as a series of saturation and digitization procedures, because the distortion due to the saturation is signal dependent and causes very different effects when compared with that of the, random, digitization noise. Numerical results are obtained to show the optimum saturaton limit of the quantizer for a given wordlength. This analysis can give a guide to low-cost and low-powr digital implementations and assurance of the system performance without intensive simulations.

Drift Control for Multistory Moment Frames under Lateral Loading

  • The paper reports results of recent studies on the effects of column support conditions on the lateral displacements of moment frames at incipient collapse. The article presents a number of exercises in the plastic theory of structures that lead to useful design formulae. It has been shown that Drift Shifting (DS) is caused due to differences in the stiffnesses of adjoining columns, and that changes in drift ratios are more pronounced at first level column joints in both fixed as well as pinned base frames. In well proportioned moment frames, DS in the upper levels could be minimized, even reduced to zero. It has been demonstrated that DS can be eliminated in properly designed fixed and grade beam supported (GBS) moment frames. Several examples, including symbolic P-delta effects, have been provided to demonstrate the validity and the applications of the proposed ideas to the design and drift control of moment frames. The proposed methodology is exact within the bounds of the theoretical assumptions and is well suited for preliminary design and teaching purposes.

  • Multiple access interference (MAI) and multi path interference(MPI) degrades the system performance in the DS-CDMA(direct-sequence code-division multiple- access)systems .0 this paper, a generalized construction method fer 2$\^$n/(n=1,2,3) phase preferred pairs(PP) with zero-correlation duration (ZCD) of (0.5N+1) chips is proposed. 2$\^$n/(n=1,2,3) phase ZCD code sets with ZCD and enlarged family sizes are generated by carrying out a chip-shift operation of the preferred pairs . The properties of the proposed codes are effective for the cancellation of MAI and MPI in DS-CDMA Systems.
