The influence of filler for silicone rubber tracking (실리콘 고무의 트래킹에 미치는 충전재의 영향)

  • Tracking is one of the biggist problems to be overcome in polymeric materials for outdoor insulators. But It can be decreased with the addition of filler such as alumina trihydrate (ATH). In this paper, the tracking of surface and evaluation of insulating ability at silicone rubber is investigated, using the salt fog test. At initial state, the peak leakage current and numbers by dry band arcing is increasing with increasing the filler level, but at aged state decreasing at high concentration filler samples. This is because the roughness of the surface may contribute to the increase in peak leakage cur-rent and numbers. As increasing the filler level, the insulating ability of materials is higher and weight loss is decreased. The mechanism of insulating failure is occurred by the erosion than the tracking and the erosion caused weight loss of 2 g.

  • Recently, polymer insulators that are used for high voltage applications have some advantages such as light weight, small size, vandalism resistance, hydrophobicity and easy making process. During outdoor service of polymer insulators, the surface of the insulating material is frequently subjected to moisture and contamination that lead to dry band arcing. Their tracking resistance, erosion resistance, end sealing and shed design are very important because dry band arcing causes degradation of polymer surface. In this paper, the tracking property of polymer suspension insulator for power transmission is investigated with CEA tracking wheel test. The diagnosis of insulator sample in tracking test has been analyzed by leakage current, STRI Guide, SEM, FTIR and thermal image.

  • OPGW(Optical Ground Wire) whose demand is increasing worldwide have composite function as optical communication and grounding for preventing transmission line from lightning. While continuous efforts have been made to increase the transmission capacity and speed, the working method to replace the existing ground wire with OPGW under live-line condition is coming to force newly as installation aspects. Particularly, this requirement became more serious in developing country that the electric power supply is not sufficient and power outage is impossible for supply and dead of electric power LS cable Ltd. has developed the new installation method in full live-line condition to solve the confronted problem and to meet the market demand. In this paper, Electric Problems in live-line installation is considered to predict dry-band arcing. This can be used by Makers to predict dry-band arcing in insulating ropes installed on earth wire of power transmission system.

In this paper, the surface and tracking properties of polymer suspension insulator for power transmission is investigated with ICP-AES, SEM, EDX, tracking wheel test and flashover voltage test. The diagnosis of insulator sample in tracking test hass been analyzed by leakage current STRI Guide and thermal image.

In this paper, the aging property of polymer insulator with shed shape(regular, alternative type) is analyzed through numerical analysis, CEA(canadian electricity association) tracking wheel test and IEC 61109 Annex C.

  • 본 논문에서는 기존의 가공지선(GW, Ground Wire)을 OPGW(Optical Ground Wire)로 교체공사를 할 경우 나타나는 절연로프에서의 건조대 아크현상을 수치적인 모델링를 통하여 해석할 수 있는 프로그램을 제작하고 현장조건을 입력하여 문제점을 판단하고 해결할 수 있는 방안을 제시하고자 한다.

During outdoor service of polymer insulators, the surface of the insulating material is frequently subjected to moisture and contamination that lead to dry band arcing. Their tracking resistance, erosion resistance, end sealing and shed design are very important because dry band arcing causes degradation of polymer surface. Aging test to estimate life property of polymer insulator is executed through several international standard such as IEC 61109 and CEA tracking wheel test, but is not getting clear conclusion yet. There are two methods in the diagnosis method of polymer insulator such as off-line and on-line. The diagnosis methods in off-line are external condition analysis by the eye, contaminant analysis on surface, surface analysis, pollution withstand voltage test, power frequency flashover voltage test, lightning impulse flashover test, tensile fracture load test and flexural load test. Polymer material is also investigated it's tracking resistance by adding surface active agent in IEC 587. In this paper, the tracking performance of polymer insulator with salt solution which is added surface active agent. The diagnosis of insulator sample has been analyzed by leakage current and visual examination, STRI guide and thermal image camera.

  • ADSS(All Dielectirc Self-Supporting) cable installed under high voltage power cable line suffers a variety of environmental influence, rain, wind, snow fall, chemical pollution, salt fog and electrical stress. Its lifetime is required to be at least 20 years with this harsh weathering condition. The electrical stress under high voltage power line gives rise to dry band arcing and tracking, the severest damage, on the outer sheath of cable. Finally tracking might penetrate sheath and cause the break-down of ADSS cable. Tracking resistant sheath material, therefore, should be used to protect the core of ADSS from dry band arcing and to be sure long lifetime. In this work, we discuss various commercial tracking resistant material to investigate the way of track resistance and compare their mechanical, electrical, weathering and tracking properties through serial experiments. We found track resistant material is categorized into two main type : polyethylene with metal hydroxide and polyethylene with reduced carbon black. The Liquid contaminant, Inclined plane Tracking and Erosion test says the time to track of tracking resistant material with metal hydroxide has a little longer time to track in the high applied voltage than that with carbon black, but mechanical and weathering properties were inferior to.

  • The paper presents the results of using the fundamental and the low frequency harmonic components of leakage current to study aging of EPDM insulator for contaminated condition by kaolin. The largeer the leakage current during 200ms, the higher harmonic component at 60hz. The harmonic component at 60hz and the odd order harmonics is increase relation without Kaolin Conent. Arcing on the surface was always associated with distortion in the leakage current; hence the low frequency components of the leakage currnent can be used as a means to evaluate the surface degration. Both the fundamental and 3rd & 5th harmonics increase dry-band activity.

The Effect of Contaminants on Tracking Aging in Polymer Insulating Materials (고분자 절연재료의 트랙킹 열화에 미치는 오손액의 영향)

  • Some polymer materials including epoxy resin are being instead of porcelain for outdoor insulating materials such as insulators bushings cable terminators and surge arrester housing. And the largest problem to be overcomed is the tracking and erosion of the outdoor polymer material brought about by dry band arcing during prolonged exposure to contaminations. In this paper the effect of surface tension wettability flow rate of contaminants with varying surfactant content and frequency of applied voltage on the tracking breakdown of epoxy insulating materials were investigated. As the flow rate of contaminant is increased the surface resistivity is decreased and the leakage current is increased the time to tracking breakdown is decreased. It is found that time to tracking breakdown depends on the surface tension of contaminant that is difference of wettability. And as the frequency of applied voltage is increased time to tracking breakdown decreased.
