This paper presents the reliability estimation of door hinge for home appliances, which consists of bushing and shaft. The predominant failure mechanism of bushing made of polyoxymethylene(POM) is brittle fracture due to decrease of strength caused by voids existing, and that of shaft made of acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene(ABS) is creep due to plastic deformation caused by excessive temperature and lowering of glass transition temperature by absorbed moisture. Since the brittle fracture of bushing is overstress failure mechanism, the load-strength interference model is used to estimate the failure rate of it along with failure analysis. By the way, the creep of shaft is wearout failure mechanism, and an accelerated life test is then planned and implemented to estimate its lifetime. Through the technical review about failure mechanism, temperature and humidity are selected as accelerating variables. Assuming Weibull lifetime distribution and Eyring model, the life-stress relationship and acceleration factor, B$_{10}$ life and its lower bound with 90% confidence at worst case use condition are estimated by analyzing the accelerated life test data.a.

The research direction of the automobile industry worldwide is speeding up research to improve fuel efficiency through weight reduction as the weight of automobiles increases due to environmental problems, convenience demands, and safety problems. As a way to solve weight reduction, there is a method of improving mechanical properties by improving the development and manufacturing method of lightweight materials with replaceable mechanical properties. Therefore, research on the molding and processing technology of aluminum, which is a lightweight material, is being actively conducted. In this study, aluminum material was applied. By using Autoform S/W, a press forming analysis program, the blank holding force, mold die R, and bead restraint force were selected in three levels, respectively, and the results and optimization of formability and shape freezing were carried out. In this study, aluminum material was applied. By using Autoform S/W, a press molding analysis program, the blank holding force, mold die R, and bead restraint force were selected in three levels, respectively, and the results and optimization of formability and shape freezing were carried out. The optimized results were confirmed by comparative analysis of formability and Spring Back. As a result of the experiment, it was possible to confirm the result value of the Spring Back of the final product according to the tensile change of the material.

Statistics on the occurrence of fires in residential facilities over the past 10 years, show that approximately 40% are fires in apartment buildings. To prevent the spread of fire and support evacuation in apartment housing, the fire resistance performance and performance design of fire doors are becoming more important. This study established a database using 395 quality inspection reports from 2016 to 2020, which passed the fire performance test, and derived the fire door performance-influencing factors through an analysis of the structure (12 elements) of the fire door. As a result, the effect of core material, adhesive, hinge type, blowing agent, etc. was confirmed in 287 pass cases. On the other hand, it was confirmed that the occurrence of flames and crevices in the 108 cases of failure were the major failure factors in the fire door fire resistance test. Fire doors are composed of composite materials to prevent failure of fire resistance performance, and efficient design and quality control are required through standardization of components.

Meeting the growing demand deadlines, reducing the production cost and upgrading the quality control measurements are the reasons why the automotive part manufacturers are venturing into automation. Attaining these objectives is impossible with human inspection for many reasons. Accordingly, the introduction of inspection system purposely for door hinge bracket inspection is presented in this study as an alternative for human inspection. This proposal is designed to meet the demands, features and specifications of door hinge bracket manufacturing companies in striving for increased throughput of better quality. To improve demerits of this manual operation, inspection system is introduced. As the inspection algorithm, template matching algorithm is applied to distinguish the articles of good quality and the poorly made articles. Through the verification test of the inspection process algorithm and the similarity metric matching algorithm, the detection accuracy was 98%, and it was applied to the production site to contribute to the improvement of the productivity due to the decrease of the defective product.
Objective: To assess the efficacy of cervical open-door laminoplasty by hydroxyapatite implant insertion between the lamina and the lateral mass without suturing. Methods: All patients who underwent cervical open-door laminoplasty with C2/C7 undermining and insertion of hydroxyapatite implants from C3 to C6 were retrospectively evaluated for surgical time and neurological outcomes according to the Japanese Orthopaedic Association (JOA) score. To assess the alignment of the cervical spine and postoperative cervical pain, the C2-7 angle and a visual analogue scale score were used, respectively. Results: The population consisted of 102 women and 222 men ranging in age from 32 to 90 years. The average surgical time was 86 minutes. Fourteen of 1,296 hydroxyapatite implants were kept in place with sutures due to a weak restoration force of the hinge during surgery. No hydroxyapatite implant dislocation was detected on cervical computed tomography at 1 year after surgery. The average JOA score was $10.2{\pm}2.5$ before surgery and $14.6{\pm}2.8$ at 1 year after surgery. The average recovery rate was 61.8%. The average C2-7 angle at the neutral position was $7.1^{\circ}{\pm}6.2^{\circ}$ before surgery and $6.5^{\circ}{\pm}6.3^{\circ}$ at 1 year after surgery. Conclusion: This method enabled us to achieve minimal exposure of the lateral mass, prevention of lateral mass injury and dural injury, and a shorter surgical time while maintaining acceptable surgical outcomes. The idea that firm suture fixation is needed to prevent spacer deviation during cervical open-door laminoplasty may need to be revisited.

This study performed stress and fatigue life analysis of the damping hinge of a built-in side-by-side refrigerator that occurs when the door is opened to the maximum angle. An analysis of the initial design showed that stress concentration occurred at the corner between the cylinder and upper disk of the bracket pin, and the maximum stress exceeded the yield strength. The maximum stress location and the calculated fatigue life were consistent with the door opening-and-closing endurance test results for a prototype. Three cases of design improvement for the bracket pin were derived with the aim of reducing the stress concentration that appeared in the initial design. An analysis of the cases showed that inserting a fillet between the disk and the cylinder of the bracket pin reduced the stress and increased the fatigue life. Moreover, changing the disk into two steps was more favorable. In conclusion, the best design improvement was the case that the disk was changed to two steps and the fillet with a large radius was inserted. In that case, the stress was the smallest and the fatigue life was infinite.

Recently the increasingly common large refrigerator is the side by side(SBS) refrigerator whose freezing chamber and refrigerating chamber are set side by side. But one of the biggest dissatisfaction of customers about SBS refrigerator is that the two doors don't meet the same height when they are closed. It is called door height difference(DHD). The main cause of DHD is the unevenness of floor on which a refrigerator is placed or the cabinet deformation caused by long time use. When the DHD is confirmed, the customer or maintenance personnel use wrench to adjust the support screw to make the refrigerator to reach the horizontal position. But for big refrigerator, it is not only difficult for women and old people who don't have enough force to adjust it, but also inappropriate to require customers to do this job. In order to resolve this problem, this research proposes a new mechanism which can detect the DHD and adjust two doors to the same height automatically. The adjustment would be completed during opening and closing the doors, avoid needing hard operation with wrench by hand.
The use of wind energy resources is developing rapidly in recent decades. There is an increasing number of wind farms in high wind-velocity areas such as the Pacific Rim regions. Wind turbine towers are vulnerable to tropical cyclones and tower failures have been reported in an increasing number in these regions. Existing post-disaster failure case studies were mostly performed through forensic investigations and there are few numerical studies that address the collapse mode simulation of wind turbine towers under strong wind loads. In this paper, the wind-induced failure analysis of a conventional 65 m hub high 1.5-MW wind turbine was carried out by means of nonlinear response time-history analyses in a detailed finite element model of the structure. The wind loading was generated based on the wind field parameters adapted from the cyclone boundary layer flow. The analysis results indicate that this particular tower fails due to the formation of a full-section plastic hinge at locations that are consistent with those reported from field investigations, which suggests the validity of the proposed numerical analysis in the assessment of the performance of wind-farms under cyclonic winds. Furthermore, the numerical simulation allows to distinguish different failure stages before the dynamic collapse occurs in the proposed wind turbine tower, opening the door to future research on the control of these intermediate collapse phases.
Korean traditional architecture has been carried out in the manner that it harmonized surrounding natural environments and never disturbed them in the scale which did not overwhelm the nature, based on the view of architecture predicated on Yin Yang School. The exposed grain of the wood like pillar, hinge and house rafte, the linear expression of the construction material and the formation between the window and door monopolizing the front side presented a harmony with the nature showing the linear structure. Furthermore the ceiling is low due to the sit life style thanks to the ondol (Korean under-floor heating system and the furniture was made in simple manner to utilize the space as large as possible, for the interior was narrow and close, and also the furniture placing in the middle of the room was movably manufactured to improve the room space. Like this Korean traditional furniture was close associated with the low height and simplicity and harmonized with the blank of the wall accordingly, and it characterized linear & planar natural beauty focusing on the simple and refined unique beauty, because it was made in a good harmony with the interior utensils. This study has presented that the organic characteristics of Korean traditional aesthetic of architecture and the natural beauty being intrinsic in traditional furniture have a mutual relation on the basis of not only the visual recognition, also the aesthetic of naturalism made of the natural material, the constructional naivety as a frame method and the linear & planar formative beauty shown in appearance.
