  • Reliability demonstration tests (RDT's) are widely employed in design verification and process validation stages of industry. New mixed attribute-variable RDT plans that compromise demerits of the corresponding zero and zero or one failure plans which are common in practice are developed for the exponential distribution. The proposed mixed plans are compared with the typical RDT plans in terms of probability of acceptance and expected test termination time. A numerical example is provided to illustrate the mixed plans and a procedure to extend these plans to the Weibull distribution with known shape parameter is also presented.

  • This paper deals with the effectiveness analysis of an engineering system, which has two units of different strengths in parallel and one unit as a cold standby unit. Failure times for all the units have negative exponential distribution whereas their repair times have general distribution. Single server caters the need for the system. The effectiveness analysis of the system is done by using regenerative point technique. The different measures of effectiveness such as mean sojourn time, mean time to system failure, availability, busy period, etc, are derived. Cost factors also taken into consideration.

  • Accelerated degradation tests (ADTs) measuring failure-related degradation characteristic at the accelerated condition are widely used to assess the reliability of highly reliable products. Often, however, little degradation could be observed even in single-stress ADTs due to the high reliability of test unit, and as a result poor estimate of the reliability may be obtained. ADTs with multiple stress variables can be employed to overcome such difficulties. In this paper, optimal ADT plans with two stress variables are developed assuming that the degradation characteristic follows Weibull distribution by determining the stress levels, the proportion of test units allocated to each stress level such that the asymptotic variance of the maximum likelihood estimator of the q-th quantile of the lifetime distribution at the use condition is minimized.

  • In order to elucidate the human impact on the distribution of cellular slime molds, samples were collected from 3 types of forest ; natural forests(Mt. Deogyu and Mt. Tsukuba), semi-natural forests(Seoul Great Zoo and Tama Zoo), artificial forests(Seoul National University and Tokyo Gakugei University) .The distribution of cellular slime molds in mountains was different from that of zoo and universities. In mountains, endemic species was occurred and species diversity was higher than in zoo and universities. In zoo and universities disturbed by human, Dictyostelium sphaerocephalum was occurred with higher importance value than in mountains. 6 species were selected to investigate the effect of temperature on froctification; Polysphondylium canlidum, D. delicatum. D. firmibasis, D. sphaerocephalum P. violaceum, D. purpureum. P. violaceum and D. purpureum had an optimum temperature for fructification around 25~3O˚C but the others around 22~23˚C. The degree of sensitivity to temperature was as follows; P. candidum >D. lelicatum > D. firmibasis > D. sphaerocephalum > P. violaceum > D. purpureum. Key words: Human impact, Cellular slime molds, Occurrence and distribution, fructification, Dictylostelium delicatum. Dictyostelium sphaerocephalum.

  • Human blood is a perishable product : it has a legal lifetime of 21 days from collection, during which it can be used for transfusion to a Patient of the same type, and after which it has to be discarded. Therefore, blood must be supplied safely and effectively because it is one of the medical resources which keep humanlife. In this study, the effects of blood issuing policies on average inventory levels and average age of blood at transfusion are determined by simulation applied the theory of absorbing Markov chains. And as a practical study, the daily demand distribution of blood is estimated by using the data of B General Hospital. The distribution estimated follows poisson distribution and the estimator of parameter estimated from the poisson distribution is 0.762. Simulation is done by using the parameter. The most important problem when control blood is the amount of outdata. So we compared random policy with Modified LIFO and Modified FIFO by using outdata. As a results it is shown that Modified LIFO and Modified FIFO by using outdata. As a results it Is shown that Modified LIFO and Modified FIFO present better issuing policy than Random Policy.

  • Economic and political barriers in Northeast Asia including Korea have been eliminated gradually. As results of economic relations are more active in this region. The administration of physical distribution tightened circulation- cost down. This is one of the most important facts to develop world economy. Distribution in China is expected to grow quantitatively and continuously. China is just out of planned economic system. Therefore, it is expected that foreign affiliated firms will take a fierce competition for the next $1\sim2$ years. This study investigates Korea-China trade and distribution index with analysis and expectation of China market. The study analyzes the business conditions, faced problems and differentiated strategies of foreign affiliated firms. Be based on those, it is researched how domestic companies will make strategies to start China successfully.

  • The computational methods of extreme sea level are developed in this study. Based on type III asymptotic distribution, non-linear multiple regression method, skewness method and maximum likelihood method are used to evaluate the parameters of the distribution. The difference between real data and evaluated distribution function is fitted to get more desirable accuracy by employing polynominals. The numerical examples are given in the last section in order to illustrate the application of the present scheme.

And the proper probability models of the parameters estimating the wind energy are presented. Finally a mixture-Weibull determined by numerical methods procedure are proposed to assess the probability distribution of the energy potential at a site. The developed method is applied to the Kwanjungchun Bridge and compared with wind records which the neighboring weather station.

  • Uniformity of plasma etching processes critically depends on the wafer temperature and its distribution. The wafer temperature is affected by plasma, chucking force, He back side pressure and the surface temperature of ESC(electrostatic chuck). In this work, 3D mathematical modeling is used to investigate the influence of the geometry of coolant path and the temperature distribution of the ESC surface. The model that has the coolant path with less change of the cross-sectional area and the curvature shows low standard deviation of the ESC surface temperature distribution than the model with the coolant path of the larger surface area and more geometric change.

  • Thermoforming is one of the most versatile and economical processes available for shaping polymer products, but obtaining a uniform thickness of the final product using this method is difficult. Heater power adjustment is very important because the thickness distribution depends strongly on the distribution of the sheet temperature. In this paper, the steady-state optimum distribution of heater power is first ascertained by a numerical optimization to obtain a uniform sheet temperature. The time-dependent optimal heater input is then determined to decrease the temperature difference through the direction of the thickness using the response surface method and the D-optimal method. The optimal results show that the time-dependent optimum heater power distribution gives an acceptable uniform sheet temperature in the forming temperature range by the end of the heating process.
