  • Recently, the distribution of drones is being activated by saving farmers' working time and protecting them from harmful human bodies from pesticides due to the mission of spraying pesticides using drones. It is possible to compensate for various shortcomings derived from the existing pesticide spraying method, wide-area control and helicopter control. Recently, the smart farm expansion policy has actively used it to generate profits for farmers by increasing harvests by monitoring growth information of various crops based on IoT in real time and collecting big data on key variables, and related drone industry technologies are also being developed. In this study, drones were applied to the work of shading greenhouses to secure diversity in agricultural application fields, and basic research on the greenhouse environment was conducted to materialize the technology related to shading. In order to provide high-quality light in consideration of the internal and external environment of the green house, basic research was conducted to enable light-shielding missions using drones through nozzle design for uniform spraying of nozzles of drones, light-transmitting rate analysis of green houses, and light-shielding agent application experiments.

  • We present a novel algorithm for creating 2D maps tailored for autonomous navigation within orchards. Recognizing that fruit trees in orchards are typically aligned in rows, our primary goal is to accurately detect these tree rows and project this information onto the map. Initially, we propose a simple algorithm that recognizes trees from point cloud data by analyzing the spatial distribution of points. We then introduce a method for detecting fruit tree rows based on the positions of recognized fruit trees, which are integrated into the 2D orchard map. Validation of the proposed approach was conducted using real-world orchard point cloud data acquired via LiDAR. The results demonstrate high tree detection accuracy of 90% and precise tree row mapping, confirming the method's efficacy. Additionally, the generated maps facilitate the development of natural navigation paths that align with the orchard's layout.

  • Although lakes are an important part of freshwater, research on biological methods for assessing ecological integrity of Korean lakes is insufficient. Therefore, this study aimed to develop Lakes Benthic Macroinvertebrates Multi-Metric Index (LBMMI) to assess the ecological integrity of lakes in Korea to further understand Korean lake's ecosystem. We used biological data from 388 sampling units of national lake monitoring programs from 2022 to 2023 and water quality data from Water Environment Information System (WEIS). As a result, firstly, reference points and disturbed points were selected through Principal Component Analysis (PCA). Secondly, six core metric elements (Pielou's Evenness index (J), Total number of taxa (To.t), Percent of taxa in insecta (% I.t), Percent of individuals in Oligochaeta and chironomidae(tuble) (% OliCht.i), Percent of taxa in Predator (% Pe.t), and Percent of taxa in Clingers (% CL.t) were selected through discriminant analysis and relationship-test. Lastly, LBMMI was calculated for each sampling point by scoring using core metric elements and five grades were assigned for LBMMI scores using a Beta probability distribution model, with the suitability of LBMMI reviewed by comparing it with TSIKO. LBMMI developed in this study is expected to appropriately assess ecological integrity of Korean lakes and provide a basis for further research on lake environment conservation.

  • Purposes: This study aims to analyze the location patterns, concentration, and accessibility of clinics in Seoul with the grids of a geographic information system(GIS) and provide useful indicators for research on hospital and clinic management and policies based on the results. The study especially sets out to identify areas falling behind in the service of the essential medical care departments based on an analysis with 250m×250m grids and contribute to efficient medical business management and public healthcare policies based on the results. Methodology: The study analyzed clinics in Seoul in terms of concentration, distribution and clustering patterns, accessibility, and hot spots by dividing the entire city into 500m×500m cells and generating grids. The accessibility analysis for the essential medical care departments was especially in detail based on grids in a 250m×250m cell size. Findings: The Herfindahl results show that plastic surgery and rehabilitation medicine recorded the highest concentration level. General medicine and dermatology recorded the highest Moran's I value, and internal medicine was the highest in hot spots. Obstetrics and gynecology capable of child delivery showed considerably lower accessibility in the grids corresponding to Gangseo-gu, Yangcheon-gu, and Gwanak-gu. Surgery had low accessibility in the grids corresponding to the northern parts of Gangseo-gu for the total population. Practical Implication: Unlike previous studies whose analyses covered wide areas, the present study examined minute spatial patterns, concentration, and accessibility based on an analysis with 500m×500m or 250m×250m grids. Based on its findings, the study expects a more minute analysis for future research on medical business management and policies.

  • This study aims to classify and analyze the research topics in mathematics education in both domestic and international contexts based on the Mathematics Subject Classification(MSC)2020, reflecting on the research themes in Korea's mathematics education. For this purpose, data from 6,235 international papers in the zbMATH Open database and 327 papers from domestic journals were collected and analyzed. The analysis showed no statistically significant difference in the distribution of papers between domestic and international contexts, confirmed through the chi-squared independence test. However, a detailed examination revealed that domestic papers tend to focus heavily on specific research topics. This trend suggests a lack of diversity in research topics and insufficient connection with international research trends. To address this issue, the Korean Society of Mathematics Education should provide more systematic MSC2020 classification information and enhance the accessibility of paper searches through zbMATH Open. This will help researchers explore a wider range of topics and strengthen connections with international research trends. Ultimately, it will contribute to the qualitative improvement of mathematics education research in South Korea and increase its global competitiveness.

  • Social media is a representative form of the Web 2.0 that shapes the change of a user's information behavior by allowing users to produce their own contents without any expert skills. In particular, as a new communication medium, it has a profound impact on the social change by enabling users to communicate with the masses and acquaintances their opinions and thoughts. Social media data plays a significant role in an emerging Big Data arena. A variety of research areas such as social network analysis, opinion mining, and so on, therefore, have paid attention to discover meaningful information from vast amounts of data buried in social media. Social media has recently become main foci to the field of Information Retrieval and Text Mining because not only it produces massive unstructured textual data in real-time but also it serves as an influential channel for opinion leading. But most of the previous studies have adopted broad-brush and limited approaches. These approaches have made it difficult to find and analyze new information. To overcome these limitations, we developed a real-time Twitter trend mining system to capture the trend in real-time processing big stream datasets of Twitter. The system offers the functions of term co-occurrence retrieval, visualization of Twitter users by query, similarity calculation between two users, topic modeling to keep track of changes of topical trend, and mention-based user network analysis. In addition, we conducted a case study on the 2012 Korean presidential election. We collected 1,737,969 tweets which contain candidates' name and election on Twitter in Korea (http://www.twitter.com/) for one month in 2012 (October 1 to October 31). The case study shows that the system provides useful information and detects the trend of society effectively. The system also retrieves the list of terms co-occurred by given query terms. We compare the results of term co-occurrence retrieval by giving influential candidates' name, 'Geun Hae Park', 'Jae In Moon', and 'Chul Su Ahn' as query terms. General terms which are related to presidential election such as 'Presidential Election', 'Proclamation in Support', Public opinion poll' appear frequently. Also the results show specific terms that differentiate each candidate's feature such as 'Park Jung Hee' and 'Yuk Young Su' from the query 'Guen Hae Park', 'a single candidacy agreement' and 'Time of voting extension' from the query 'Jae In Moon' and 'a single candidacy agreement' and 'down contract' from the query 'Chul Su Ahn'. Our system not only extracts 10 topics along with related terms but also shows topics' dynamic changes over time by employing the multinomial Latent Dirichlet Allocation technique. Each topic can show one of two types of patterns-Rising tendency and Falling tendencydepending on the change of the probability distribution. To determine the relationship between topic trends in Twitter and social issues in the real world, we compare topic trends with related news articles. We are able to identify that Twitter can track the issue faster than the other media, newspapers. The user network in Twitter is different from those of other social media because of distinctive characteristics of making relationships in Twitter. Twitter users can make their relationships by exchanging mentions. We visualize and analyze mention based networks of 136,754 users. We put three candidates' name as query terms-Geun Hae Park', 'Jae In Moon', and 'Chul Su Ahn'. The results show that Twitter users mention all candidates' name regardless of their political tendencies. This case study discloses that Twitter could be an effective tool to detect and predict dynamic changes of social issues, and mention-based user networks could show different aspects of user behavior as a unique network that is uniquely found in Twitter.

  • The upper sedimentary layer of the Ulleung Basin in the East Sea shows stacked mass-flow deposits such as slide/slump deposits in the upper slope, debris-flow deposits in the middle and lower slope, and turbidites in the basin plain. Shallow gases or gas hydrates are also reported in many area of the Ulleung Basin, which are very important in terms of marine resources, environmental changes, and geohazard. This paper aims at studying acoustic characteristics and distribution pattern of gas-related structures such as acoustic column, enhanced reflector, dome structure, pockmark, and gas seepage in the upper sedimentary layer, by analysing high-resolution chirp profiles. Acoustic column shows a transparent pillar shape in the sedimentary layer and mainly occurs in the basin plain. Enhanced reflector is characterized by an increased amplitude and laterally extended to several tens up kilometers. Dome structure is characterized by an upward convex feature at the seabed, and mainly occurs in the lower slope. The pockmark shows a small crater-like feature and usually occurs in the middle and lower slope. Gas seepage is commonly found in the middle slope of the southern Ulleung Basin. These gas-related structures seem to be mainly caused by gas migration and escape in the sedimentary layer. The distribution pattern of the gas-related structures indicates that formation of these structures in the Ulleung Basin is controlled not only by sedimentary facies in upper sedimentary layer but also by gas-solubility changes depending on water depth. Especially, it is interpreted that the chaotic and discontinuous sedimentary structures of debris-flow deposits cause the facilitation of gas migration, whereas the continuous sedimentary layers of turbidites restrict the vertical migration of gases.

  • Purpose : To establish and verify the proper and the practical IMRT (Intensity--modulated radiation therapy) patient QA (Quality Assurance). Materials and Methods : An IMRT QA which consists of 3 steps and 16 items were designed and examined the validity of the program by applying to 9 patients, 12 IMRT cases of various sites. The three step OA program consists of RTP related QA, treatment information flow QA, and a treatment delivery QA procedure. The evaluation of organ constraints, the validity of the point dose, and the dose distribution are major issues in the RTP related QA procedure. The leaf sequence file generation, the evaluation of the MLC control file, the comparison of the dry run film, and the IMRT field simulate image were included in the treatment information flow procedure QA. The patient setup QA, the verification of the IMRT treatment fields to the patients, and the examination of the data in the Record & Verify system make up the treatment delivery QA procedure. Results : The point dose measurement results of 10 cases showed good agreement with the RTP calculation within $3\%$. One case showed more than a $3\%$ difference and the other case showed more than $5\%$, which was out side the tolerance level. We could not find any differences of more than 2 mm between the RTP leaf sequence and the dry run film. Film dosimetry and the dose distribution from the phantom plan showed the same tendency, but quantitative analysis was not possible because of the film dosimetry nature. No error had been found from the MLC control file and one mis-registration case was found before treatment. Conclusion : This study shows the usefulness and the necessity of the IMRT patient QA program. The whole procedure of this program should be peformed, especially by institutions that have just started to accumulate experience. But, the program is too complex and time consuming. Therefore, we propose practical and essential QA items for institutions in which the IMRT is performed as a routine procedure.
