  • In this paper we establish some recurrence relations for both single and product moments of order statistics from a doubly truncated linear- exponential distribution with increasing hazard rate. These recurrence relations would enable one to compute all the higher order moments of order statistics for all sample sizes from those of the lower order in a simple recursive way. In addition, percentage points of order statistics are also discussed. These generalize the corresponding results for the linear- exponential distribution with increasing hazard rate derived by Balakrishnan and Malik(1986)

  • We obtain a skewed double Weibull distribution by a double Weibull distribution, and evaluate its coefficient of skewness. And we obtain the approximate maximum likelihood estimator(AML) and moment estimator of skew parameter in the skewed double Weibull distribution, and hence compare simulated mean squared errors(MSE) of those estimators. We compare simulated MSE of two proposed reliability estimators in two independent skewed double Weibull distributions each with different skew parameters. Finally we introduce a skewed double Weibull distribution generated by a uniform kernel.

  • The purpose of the present paper is to investigate Confluent hypergeometric distribution. We obtain some basic properties of this distribution. It is worthy to note that the Poisson distribution is a particular case of this distribution. Finally, we give a nice application of this distribution on certain classes of univalent functions of the conic regions.

  • In this paper, we introduce the exponentiated Weibull-geometric (EWG) distribution which generalizes two-parameter exponentiated Weibull (EW) distribution introduced by Mudholkar et al. (1995). This proposed distribution is obtained by compounding the exponentiated Weibull with geometric distribution. We derive its cumulative distribution function (CDF), hazard function and the density of the order statistics and calculate expressions for its moments and the moments of the order statistics. The hazard function of the EWG distribution can be decreasing, increasing or bathtub-shaped among others. Also, we give expressions for the Renyi and Shannon entropies. The maximum likelihood estimation is obtained by using EM-algorithm (Dempster et al., 1977; McLachlan and Krishnan, 1997). We can obtain the Bayesian estimation by using Gibbs sampler with Metropolis-Hastings algorithm. Also, we give application with real data set to show the flexibility of the EWG distribution. Finally, summary and discussion are mentioned.

  • Purpose - The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of gamma - irradiation on the effluent from food distribution in the large agricultural and marine products market. This study will contribute to the distribution process as well as the agricultural and fishery distribution facilities. Research design, data, and methodology - In order to reduce the odor, the smell was examined in the anaerobic digestion process by irradiating gamma rays to the wastewater of mixed food discharged from a large restaurant. An odor determination panel list was constructed to determine if the odor was present in the air dilution drainage and the odor concentration was analyzed by instrumental analysis. Results - It was confirmed that the sulfur content increased gradually from 3 months. Ammonia decreased from 33.57ppm at the initial measurement to 4.12 ppm at the end of the experiment. Methane production was highest at 100kGy when exposed to gamma rays of 0-200kGy at pH 12. In other words, it is considered that gamma irradiation doses are most effective at 100kGy and are suitable for large capacity wastewater treatment facilities in terms of economic feasibility. Conclusions - In pre-treatment of compound food wastewater, gamma irradiation is most cost effective when examined at 100kGy. The economic efficiency of the pre-treatment method by gamma irradiation is much higher than the wastewater treatment in the large-scale agricultural and marine products distribution market.

  • The purpose of the research is to compare the distribution of Black-pigmented Bacteroides between Chronic Periodontitis and Aggressive Periodontitis. P. gingivalis, P. intermedia and P. nigrescens were examined in order to evaluate their distribution in patients with Chronic Periodontitis(CP) and Aggressive Periodontitis(AP). PCR and dot-blots hybridization of 16s rRNA gene were used to compare bacterial distribution of two groups - CP group and AP group, which were divided into two subgroups. Subgingival plaque taken from the diseased sites(pocket $depth{\geq}6$ mm) and healthy sites(pocket $depth{\leq}3$ mm) were grouped into the experimental group and the control group. The result are as follows ; 1. The distribution of P. gingivalis was 98.33% for chronic Periodotitis(CP), 94.17% for Aggressive Periodontitis(AP), the distribution of P. intermedia was 77.50% for CP, 64.17% for AP, and the distribution of P. nigrescens was 35.00%, 29.17%. In all 3 types of bacteria, CP group showed higher distribution compared to AP group, but only P. intermedia showed statistically significant difference. 2. In the case of CP, every type of bacteria showed higher distribution in the experimental group with statistically significant difference. 3. In the case of AP, every type of bacteria also showed higher distribution in the experimental group, but P. gingivalis and p..intermedia showed the result with statistically significant difference, and the other did not 4. In 3 all bacteria type, N-AP showed higher distribution than N-CP without statistically significant difference These results suggest that the comparison of the distribution of Bacteroides between Chronic Periodontitis and Aggressive Periodontitis has no statistically significant difference, except P. intermedia.
