Illumination system design for the liquid crystal display projector using fly-eye lenses (Fly-eye lens를 사용하는 액정 projector용 조명 광학계의 설계)

  • The principle of an illumination system including fly-eyes lenses for a liquid crystal display (LCD) projector with 3-panels was presented and its optical system was designed by using the OSLO (premium edition 6.1) optical system design program. Two panels of the illumination system are well aligned for so that the illumination path length is the same, and the third panel has a longer pass length than the others. The two illumination types with the same or different illumination path lengths were derived by using the paraxial ray design method. Refraction powers and positions of each lens were analytically determined by the method, and the damped least square method was utilized to obtain the optimized uniform illumination system.

Region-based Pattern Generating System for Maskless Photolithography

  • In the maskless photolithography based on the Digital Micromirror Device (DMD) by Texas Instruments Inc. (TI), the micromirror array works as a virtual photomask to write patterns directly onto Flat Panel Display (FPD) at high speed with low cost. However, it is neither simple to generate region-based patterns for the micromirror array nor easy to deliver sequences of patterns for the micromirror controller. Moreover, the quality of lithography yields the precise synchronization between generating sequence of patterns and irradiation rate off micromirrors. In this study, the region-based pattern generating system for maskless photolithography is devised. To verify salient features of devised functionalities, the prototype system is implemented and the system is evaluated with actual DMD based photolithography. The results show that proposed pattern generating method is proper and reliable. Moreover, the devised region-based pattern generating system is robust and precise enough to handle any possible user specified mandate and to achieve the quality of photolithography required by FPD manufacturer.

  • The key point of this design can offer good picture resolution and a high-speed color STN decode. We maximize a combination processing of the color signal. Therefore, there is a color implementation at the natural. The age of the multimedia comes, so the color is considered important and wide. To be necessary a color implementation have become the importance which picture resolution is clean and low price of the liquid display TFT occupied greater part of the liquid display. But TFT could not consist low price realization. This research is a color implementation of STN at low price, design good picture resolution decode for optimum an limit of upside with frequency range maximizing and can reply in the high-speed by multidivision method. As a result, we design optimum of the STN decode.

Design Alterations of a Grinder of Semiconductor Wafer for the Improved Stability (반도체 Wafer용 Grinder의 안정화 설계)

  • One of the most critical aspects of the modern semiconductor industry is the quality of wafer surface, the roughness of which is mostly caused by the ingot slicing. And the grinding is supposed to be the main process to reduce the surface roughness. The vibrations of the disc surface grinder are the major problem to effectively achieve the required surface quality. In this study, the structure of a disc surface grinder was analyzed through the experiment and the computer simulation to investigate the dynamic characteristics of the machine, and further to alter the design for the improved stability. The result of the study shows that simple design alterations without alternating main body can effectively suppress the vibrations of the machine.

  • End milling is an important and common machining operation because of its versatility and capability to produce various profiles and curved surfaces. This paper presents an experimental study of the cutting force variations in the end milling of SM25C with HSS(high speed steel) and carbide tool. This paper involves a study of the Taguchi design application to optimize cutting force in a end milling operation. The Taguchi design is an efficient and effective experimental method in which a response variable can be optimized, given various control and noise factors, using fewer resources than a factorial design. This study included feed rate, spindle speed and depth of cut as control factors, and the noise factors were different cutting tool in the same specification. An orthogonal array of $L_9(3^3)$ of ANOVA analyses were carried out to identify the significant factors affecting cutting force, and the optimal cutting combination was determined by seeking the best cutting force and signal-to-noise ratio. Finally, confirmation tests verified that the Taguchi design was successful in optimizing end milling parameters for cutting force.

  • The stocker system is another name of automated storage and retrieval system (AS/RS) and being popularly used as main material handling tools in Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) and semiconductor fabrication facilities. Recently the use of the stocker system has been extended to transportation from conventional storage and retrieval in LCD fabrication facilities. Toolsets are connected in the ground level of the stocker system and 4~6 stories of the shelves are placed in the upper or lower ground level. As a consequence of the more sophisticated design, move requests imposed on the system greatly increased. For solving this problem, the industry adopted the dual-robot stocker system that two robots are moving along the same guide line in the stocker system. This research develops a closed-form solution to estimate a delivery rate of the dual robot stocker system under given design and operation parameters. Using this stochastic model, industry practitioners could analyze performance levels under given various design parameters, and ultimately the model helps optimizing the design parameters.

  • It is generally accepted that the surface quality of wafer edge is mostly damaged by the vibrations of the edge grinding machine. The surface quality of wafer edge is supposed to be the most dominant factor of the cracks, scratches, burrs and chips on the edge surfaces, which are the main defects of the wafers. In this study, the structure of a wafer edge grinder has been investigated through the frequency response experiment and the computer simulation to find ways to suppress the vibrations from the structure. The main reasons of the structural vibrations were analyzed. And further the design alterations were deduced from the results of the experiment and the simulation, and applied to the machine to check the effects of those alterations and to eventually improve the structural stability. The result shows that the machine can have much improved stability with relatively simple design changes.

  • Placing itself in position of spectators, museum should be able to explain to them what meaning the medium of exhibi-tion has and what role it has to paly. For that, it is an indispensable process to plan an archite-ctural environment and exhibition presentation suitable to the exhibition which are main objects of museum, but as a result of its being reglected by this time, it has been recog-nized as a tigid and formal place closed and estranged from the general public. The authoritarian aspect of museum resulted from its sys-tem negative to the people of our country, while its services have been developed as a place in which one understand a country most quicky. Recently, however, as a movement of participating in the newly changing general trend, the contest of design of the new National Museum was announced publicaly worldwide introducing the Museografia method of planning exhibition presentation after thorough analysis of exhibition, which made it known that an importance is intensely put on the en-vironment of relics and their exhibition. The purpose of the study is to analogize the planning prin-ciple of the interior design of the exhibition room of sculp-tures, placing emphasis on the exhibition presentation intro-ducing Museografia as a way of examining the problems and solving them concerning the existing standardized uni-form method of displaying exhibition.   • When a certain particular department store is chosen by customers due to the good image, the department store will have provided for the conditions that it can precede in competition with other department stores. Based upon it, a survey was made of preference for the department store interior design image component. In order to make the department store image better based upon this study results, the designer should remember that department store is possessed of display and circultation planinorder to give consume the good image. And , as a result of analyzing customers' preference for the details of the interior design image component, the area, primary components of the department store space, should take on specialization , though narrow. The circulation should constitute the free flow system. The ornamental illumination should be emphasized for the secondary component of the department store space. The color planing should be made that is oriented to seasonality and products. The floor should finished with wood. The department store interior should be decorated in a modern and simple form. The display of the department store should be made in a fashion that it takes on seasonality and artistry. These measures can be said to be the desirable method to provide a good image for women customers paying a visit to the department store.

Design Alterations of a Pipe Cutting Machine for the Improved Precision Machining (가공정도 향상을 위한 Pipe Cutting Machine의 설계 개선)

  • The modern industry requires the precision machining as well as the high productivity. The machine tool structure should be evaluated in aspects such as durability, static stability, precision rate and the dynamic stability which is one of the most critical characteristics in determining the magnitude of vibrations. In this study, the dynamic properties of a pipe cutting machine were investigated to analyze the structural vibrations of the machine, and further to improve the structural stability and precision machining. Frequency response test and computer simulation have been utilized for the analysis and the design alterations. And the result shows that proposed design alterations can reduce the vibrations of the machine substantially.
