Analytical solution for bending analysis of functionally graded beam

  • In this paper, a refined exponential shear deformation beam theory is developed for bending analysis of functionally graded beams. The theory account for parabolic variation of transverse shear strain through the depth of the beam and satisfies the zero traction boundary conditions on the surfaces of the beam without using shear correction factors. Contrary to the others refined theories elaborated, where the stretching effect is neglected, in the current investigation this so-called "stretching effect" is taken into consideration. The material properties of the functionally graded beam are assumed to vary according to power law distribution of the volume fraction of the constituents. Based on the present shear deformation beam theory, the equilibrium equations are derived from the principle of virtual displacements. Analytical solutions for static are obtained. Numerical examples are presented to verify the accuracy of the present theory.

  • The magnetic suspension system is used in many areas, because it has great advantages. such as no friction, no noise, no lubrication and so on, but it is a unstable system in natural. It must have a feedback control with the position is measured for a stable levitation. There are an eddy-current sensor, a capacitive sensor, an inductive sensor, and an optical sensor with a laser as the sensor which measures displacements without contact. Among them, an inductive sensor is made with lower price than others. And it has a good linearity. In this paper, a magnetic circuit leads a linear equation between an input as a displacement and an output as a voltage. Experiments establish that voltage change according to displacement is linear. This paper presents the preliminary study of an inductive position sensing for self-sensing magnetic suspension system.

체결단계를 고려한 승용차용 에어스프링 정특성 설계해석기법 개발 (Static FE Analysis of Air Springs for Passenger Cars Considering the Mounting Steps)

  • Air springs are designed to support loads using the volume elasticity in a cylindrical shaped air bag made of a composite material with a rubber matrix and two plies of reinforced fibers. Recently, applications of these springs have been expanded from railway vehicles to passenger cars. The current study presents a finite element analysis of a manufactured air spring for a passenger car. The analysis was conducted including the mounting steps of the air bag using a static loading condition. A method for controlling the internal pressure and displacements during the mounting step was developed. The characteristic load curve and the shape of the air bag were in good agreement with the experimental data with respect to the design height, the bump height and the rebound height. Results indicate that ply angles of fibers vary from 38 degrees to 56 degrees during static loading.

  • 본 논문에서는 현장계측을 통해 관측된 소일네일링 벽체의 거동을 분석하였다. 연구의 주요내용으로는 인발시험을 통해 산정한 네일과 지반의 경계면에서 전단강도의 발생, 지반의 수평변위, 네일에 발생하는 인장력의 분포 및 경계면에서의 전단강도의 발현 등이다. 특히, 경계면에서의 전단응력 발생 과정 및 전단강도 발현에 대한 심도있는 분석을 실시하였다. 본 연구에서 분석된 자료는 국내 소일네일링의 예비설계 단계시 참고 자료로 활용될 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

Discrete Optimum Design of Space Truss Structures Using Genetic Algorithms

  • The objective of this study is the development of discrete optimum design algorithms which is based on the genetic algorithms. The developed algorithms was implemented in a computer program. For the optimum design, the objective function is the weight of space trusses structures and the constraints are stresses and displacements. This study solves the problem by introducing the genetic algorithms. The genetic algorithms consists of genetic process and evolutionary process. The genetic process selects the next design points based on the survivability of the current design points. The evolutionary process evaluates the survivability of the design points selected from the genetic process. The efficiency and validity of the developed discrete optimum design algorithms was verified by applying the algorithms to optimum design examples.

고속회전 원형 톱의 불안정 현상 (Unstable Phenomenon of High-Speed Rotating Circular Saws)

  • This paper presents schematic process of identifying the principal cause to make the vibration problem of rotating circular saws. In the tandem pencil slat saw lines, feeding of cedar blocks is often stopped because excessive motro current is required in a saw motor. These events are called "kick-offs" in technical reports. Research on saw behavior at kick-offs is required to understand are reduce the frequency and severity of kick-offs events. This research aims at finding out the principal cause of kick-offs, and evloving design improvements for high cutting performance with fewer and less severe kick-offs. Measurements of critical speed, cutting force, cutting temeprature and dynamic displacements are carried out to observe the instability mechanism and also to obtain saw design parameters for the numerical analyses. And the numerical analyses involving FEM and multiple scale method are utilized to show the possibility of the principal cause.pal cause.

ATM 게이트 모듈의 응답속도 개선 (Reduction of the Response Time of an ATM Gate Module)

  • ATM is a machine that receives and pays money. The gate module of ATM separates forgeries from bills and changes the transfer direction of bills. In this paper, the dynamic behavior of the gate was analyzed numerically and experimentally. The moment of inertia of the gate lever, the driving force of the solenoid and the spring force were measured, respectively. And the displacements of the plunger, the Input voltage and current were measured experimentally. The measured dynamic behaviors were simulated numerically using Maxwell program which can accommodate the electromagnetic problem of the solenoid. Through the analysis, the design factors were found to make a fast and reliable new ATM gate module.

  • Currently, in the design criteria for the high speed railway bridges, the maximum distance between bridge expansion joint is limited to 80m using a continuous welded mil, in order to limit the additional stress in the rail due to the rail-bridge interaction. In the past study on the resonance effect of HSR train, it is known that the reduction of resonance and dynamic responses of bridge deck occurs at the specific expansion length of 28.05m and 46.75m. In this study, the stability of track structure on the HSR bridges with expansion length of 90m has checked by finite element method. And the track behavior including mil stresses and relative displacements are compared to the current state of track structures on the bridge system with 80m long expansion length.

내진 천장시스템의 실규모 진동대 실험 및 해석 (Full-Scale Shaking Table Test and Analysis of Seismic Ceiling Systems)

  • In the current research, a seismic ceiling system as one of non-structural elements in buildings has been developed by applying newly designed vertical hanger clips combined with M-bar channel clips. In order to evaluate the seismic performance of the developed system, full-scale shaking table tests of one story frame structure with the conventional ceiling system or the developed seismic ceiling system were performed with time-history responses under earthquake loads. The developed system was also evaluated by the time-history dynamic analysis. From seismic test and analysis, it was shown that the developed seismic ceiling system could give improved seismic performances to minimize displacements and damages of ceiling systems as well as enhance seismic safety of the ceiling system.

  • A dynamic simulation for a high-speed pantograph-overheadline has been performed using mode superposition method to predict contact forces between pantograph and overheadline. We can deal with non-linear dampers of the pantograph and pre-sag of overhead-line for the simulation. But, we can not consider slackness of dropper in the overhead-line. According to the simulation results, the contact forces and displacements are reasonably predicted, compared with other foreign simulation results.
