  • Microbial surfactants are more effective and environmentally friendly than many synthetic surfactants. Sophorolipid, a glycolipid type microbial surfactant, is produced from C. bombiocola. Cultivation techniques to increase the productivity have been developed using various carbon sources and reactor setup, reaching its concentration upto 100-300 g/L. Due to its high productivity and non-toxicity, sophorolipid became one of the most promising alternative to synthetic surfactants. Fermentative production of sophorolipid depends primarily on the carbon sources, such as glucose and vegetable oils, and nitrogen sources. Chemical modification of the sophorolipid produces various derivative with different physical properties including hydrophile-liphophilie balance(HLB), emulsion formation, surface tension and dispersing ability. Commercial potentials of sophorolipid in the cosmetic, health care and environment clean-up industries have been discussed.

  • It is demonstrated that graphene sheets are produced via thermal reduction of graphene oxide (GO) in the presence of imidazoium-based poly (ionic liquid) (PIL). PILs plays an important role in minimizing the reduction time and dispersing graphene sheets in organic solvents. In addition, as-obtained graphene sheets are found to be functionalized with PIL molecules by the strong interaction of PIL and the graphene, as analyzed by various physical methods such as atomic force microscopy (AFM), X-ray photoelectric spectroscopy (XPS) and Raman spectroscopy. Such a strong interaction allows the successful production of graphene/PIL composites, in which their electrical properties are controllable by the loading level of graphene in the PIL matrix.

  • Bentones from Korean bentonites were first prepared by reacting bentonites with high molecular weight imidazolines. The cation exchange capacity of bentonites was found more than 100meq/100g sample. Greases were then prepared by dispersing bentones into a lubricating oil and milling through a three-roll dispersion mill. Consistency in microscale, oxidation stability (static), water resistance, and wear property of the greases were tested by the ASTM methods, and good experimental results were obtained.

  • Clay-polymer thickened greases were made by dispersing bentone-polyethylene and bentone-atactic polypropylene into mineral oil at an adequate temperature, and the physical properties such as wear and water washout characteristics, oxidation and shear stabilities, and dropping point of the greases were tested. Even if the greases failed to meet some properties, it was found that those greases can be used for some special purposes, by observing and comparing the properties with those of clay-metallic soap thickened greases that were made in this experiment.

  • Recently, the nanofluid which is stably dispersing or suspending of nanoparticles in the conventional heat transfer fluids (HTF) such as water and ethylene glycol has attracted significant interests as a solar thermal energy absorbing medium because they have excellent absorption and thermophysical properties compared to the typical HTF. In the present study, the efficiency of nanofluid-based flat-plate solar collector is analytically evaluated using the theoretical model of energy balance equation. The theoretical model considers the incoming solar radiation as a volumetric heat generation and the water-based single wall carbon nanohorn(SWCNH) nanofluid is used as a solar energy absorbing medium. Finally, the efficiency of nanofluid-based collector is calculated according to the volume fraction of SWCNH using the analytical solution.

  • According to the literature on the, the results were as follows. 1. The mechanism of External therapy for prostatitis is some medicicne to come into prostate have anti-inframation and the other medicine to come into nerve system control pain. 2. For the method are uesed hip bath, enema and sticking the pacth to the umbilicus etc. 3. For the medicine are used safflower(紅花), patrinia(敗醫草), chrysanthemum flower(菊花) and Cortex Phellodendri(黃栢). nature and flavor of the medicine is almost cold, bitter in taste and hot in taste. 4. For the classification of medicine are used drug to induce diuresis to elominate stranguria(利尿通淋藥) and drug to induce diuresis to dispersing swelling(利水退腫藥). sometimes they are used to Heat-clearing and detoxifying drug(淸熱解毒藥) and blood-quickening aget(活血祛瘀藥).

  • Estimates of larval mortality for many marine fishes are based on field collections from several consecutive ichthyoplankton surveys, assuming that the surveys have covered the entire areas of larval habitats. The oceanic environment, however, is so dynamic and complicated that planktonic forms cannot stay within a confined area for a prolonged period. This note is prepared as a more detailed explanation of the estimates of fish larval mortality in the oceanic dispersing system, as a supplement of Kim and Bang (1990).

  • Recently, with the increasing demand of high performance of concrete, the mix design of concrete mixture has became low water-to-binder ratio with high binder content. To compensate these trend of mix design, high range water reducer, or superplascizier has been invented to achieve high flowable concrete. Although this superplasticizer provides favorable workability based on its dispersing action on the components of concrete mixture, it has an limitation of decreasing viscosity of the mixture, and thus it is difficult to secure sufficient workability for high performance concrete mixtures with high binder content. To improve the workability of concrete with high viscosity, recently, low-viscosity type superplasticizer was introduced, and in this research, a fundamental properties of low-viscosity type superplasticizer is evaluated.

  • Two different nanofluids were prepared by dispersing $Al_{2}O_3$ nanoparticles in transformer oil after hydrophobic surface modification. The agglomerated alumina nanoparticles with diameters from ${\mu}m$ to mm were ball-milled and then treated with surfactants such as lauric acid, stearic acid and oleic acid. The surface characteristics of modified nanoparticles were examined by FTIR spectroscopy. It showed that the hydrophobicity of nanoparticles was caused by esterification between hydroxyl groups on the particle surface and functional groups of surfactant. The shape and size distribution of ball-milled particles were analyzed by TEM and PSA. The results compared with the primary particles indicated that the size distributions of nanoparticles were dependant on milling times. The dispersion stability of modified nanoparticles dispersed in oil was highly dependent on the composition and amounts of surfactants.

  • The present work focuses on preparation of olanzapine, orally dispersing tablets by direct compression method. Effect of super disintegrant crospovidone, disintegration time, drug content on in vitro release has been studied. A factorial design was employed in formulating a prompt dispersible tablet. The selected independent variables crospovidone and fmelt showed significant effect on dependent variables i.e. disintegration time and percent drug dissolved. Disintegration time and percent drug dissolved decreased with increase in the level of crospovidone. The similarity factor $f_2$ was found to be 97.48 for the developed formulation indicating the release was similar to that of the marketed formulation. Pharmacokinetics of olanzapine after single-dose oral administration of orally disintegrating tablet in normal volunteers were evaluated and the results showed that PK parameters (Cmax, Tmax, AUC) of the designed ODT matrix were similar to those of commercial product, Zyprexa Zydis$^{(R)}$ as a reference.
