In this study the amount of equilibrium sorption of C.I. Disperse Yellow 54 dye in the polymeric textiles such as PTT (poly(trimethylene terephthalate)) and PET (poly(ethylene terephthalate)) textiles was measured in the presence of supercritical carbon dioxide at different temperatures, pressures, and time. The amount of dye sorption increased with temperature and pressure in both PTT and PET textiles, but the increasing rate decreased with pressure. The PTT textile has much larger dye sorption than PET textile. The increasing rate of dye sorption decreased with time at same temperature and pressure for both PTT and PET textiles.
The dyeing of polyester fiber with two different disperse dyes (Disperse Red 60 and Disperse Yellow 54) was carried out using supercritical carbon dioxide ($SCCO_2$) as a dyeing medium at temperatures ranging from $50^{\circ}C$ to $90^{\circ}C$ and at pressures from 15 MPa to 30 MPa. The dye uptake of Disperse Red 60 on polyester fiber was found to increase with temperature at constant pressure and $SCCO_2$ density (700 kg/$m^3$). At $90^{\circ}C$ and 30 MPa, the dye uptake on polyester fiber increased with dyeing time and the saturation concentration of Red 60 was attained within 240 min, while a longer dyeing time was required for Yellow 54 to reach its saturation concentration. When dyestuff mixtures with mixing ratios of 0.01 to 9.0 (Red 60/Yellow 54) were used, the uptake ratio of the two dyes was found to be proportional to 0.26 power of their mixing ratio. Dyed fibers showed an orange color and the depth of the color depended upon the mixing ratio of the dyestuffs.
Sorption of C. I. Disperse Yellow 54 dye in poly(trimethylene terephthalate) (PTT) and poly (ethylene terephthalate) (PET) textile fibers were measured at various pressures, temperatures, and times in the presence of supercritical carbon dioxide and thereby the diffusivities of the dye in the fibers were calculated. The diffusivity of dye in the polymeric fibers was very low, only in the order of $10^{-12}\;cm^2/sec$, but increased with increasing temperature at constant pressure and with increasing pressure at constant temperature. The diffusivity in PTT fibers were about 1.5 to 3 times as large as that in PET fibers. As the fiber was very thin, the dye distribution in the fiber was almost uniform everywhere inside the fiber.
The adsorption of disperse yellow 3 (DY 3) on granular activated carbon (GAC) was investigated for isothermal adsorption and kinetic and thermodynamic parameters by experimenting with initial concentration, contact time, temperature, and pH of the dye as adsorption parameters. In the pH change experiment, the adsorption percent of DY 3 on activated carbon was highest in the acidic region, pH 3 due to electrostatic attraction between the surface of the activated carbon with positive charge and the anion (OH-) of DY 3. The adsorption equilibrium data of DY 3 fit the Langmuir isothermal adsorption equation best, and it was found that activated carbon can effectively remove DY 3 from the calculated separation factor (RL). The heat of adsorption-related constant (B) from the Temkin equation did not exceed 20 J mol-1, indicating that it is a physical adsorption process. The pseudo second order kinetic model fits well within 10.72% of the error percent in the kinetic experiments. The plots for Weber and Morris intraparticle diffusion model were divided into two straight lines. The intraparticle diffusion rate was slow because the slope of the stage 2 (intraparticle diffusion) was smaller than that of stage 1 (boundary layer diffusion). Therefore, it was confirmed that the intraparticle diffusion was rate controlling step. The free energy change of the DY 3 adsorption by activated carbon showed negative values at 298 ~ 318 K. As the temperature increased, the spontaneity increased. The enthalpy change of the adsorption reaction of DY 3 by activated carbon was 0.65 kJ mol-1, which was an endothermic reaction, and the entropy change was 2.14 J mol-1 K-1.

The cotton fabrics were pretreated by sodium 2-(2,3-dibromopropionylamino)-5-(4,6-dichloro-1,3,5-triazinylamino) benzenesulfonate (DBDCBS) at alkaline condition ofroom temperature and then dyed with four disperse dyes having amino groups (C.I. Disperse Yellow 9, C.I. Disperse Red 11, C.I. Disperse Blue 56 and C.I. Disperse Violet 1) at acidic condition of high temperature. A novel hetero-bifunctional bridge compound, DBDCBS, has two reactive groups such as dichloro-striazinyl group and ${\alpha},\;{\beta}$-dibromopropionylamido group. The first has reactivity towards hydroxy group of cellulosic fiber and the second shows reactivity towards amino groups of disperse dye containing amino groups. The results indicate that it is possible to dye polyester/cotton blend at one-bath dyeing using one kind of disperse dye containing amino groups. Therefore, two kinds of dyeing methods such as two-bath process one-bath dyeing and one-bath process one-bath dyeing were investigated and their dyeabilities were compared. The differences between these two methods were negligibly small so that perfect one-bath one-step dyeing of polyester/cotton blend by one kind of disperse dye was achieved.

This study investigates the dyeability and fastness of jacquard fabric for blind using low-melting flame retardant polyester. Two types of jacquard fabric were prepared with a low-melting flame retardant polyester and regular polyester. The low-melting flame retardant polyester has a sheath and a core. The core consists of flame retardant polyester and the sheath consists of low-melting polyester. Disperse red 50 (DR 50), disperse blue 56 (DB 56), disperse yellow (DY 54) of E-type dyes and disperse 92 (DR 92), disperse blue 60 (DB 60), disperse yellow (DY 79) of S-type dyes were used and dyed on jacquard fabrics dependent of dyeing temperature and time. The fastness, dye exhaustion, color strength (K/S value), and colorimetric properties of jacquard fabrics were evaluated. The dyeability of S-type dyes were higher than E-type dyes. The experiments indicated optimum dyeability that the dyeing temperature was $110^{\circ}C$ for E-type dyes and $120^{\circ}C$ for S-type dyes for 40 minutes. The fastness to washing and light were excellent at a 4-5 grade.
Five yellow disperse dyes were synthesized and their dyeing, fastness and photodegradation behaviors were investigated. It was found that dyes derived from phenylindole and N-alkylaminobenzene showed dye uptake directly proportional to the dye concentration, but the build-up of dyes derived from carbazole and pyridone were not good. The wavelength at maximum absorption. molar extinction coefficient. and the tendency to the photodegradation were strongly dependent on the electron donating ability of the coupling component. The dye, whose coupling component was phenylindole, possessed the excellent dyeing properties and the high degree of lightfastness. UVA had an effect on the inhibition of the photodegradation especially for the easily photodegradabte dyes.
An alkalophilic microorganism capable of degrading dyes was developed for the treatment of alkaline dye solution. This strain was identified as Pseudomonas species. Using this microorganism, biological treatment of dye was studied in Erlenmeyer flasks. The characteristics of this microorganism were observed under various incubating-condition such as temperature, pH, nitrogen source, and macronutrients concentration. The removal effciencies of Disperse Red 60 from synthetic wastewater were 33.5 ~ 36.9% at the range of $30{\sim}40^{\circ}C$, and they were 31.1 ~ 36.7% at the range of initial pH 8 ~ pH 10, respectively. The optimal culture medium was found to be 0.25%(w/v) yeast extract, 0.25%(w/v) polypeptone, 0.1%(w/v) $KH_2PO_4$, 0.2%(w/v) $MgSO_4{\cdot}7H_2O$, and 1.0%(w/v) $Na_2CO_3$. In treatment of various dyes using Erlenmeyer flasks, the removal effciencies of Disperse Blue 87, Disperse Yellow 64, Disperse Red 60, Acid Blue 193, Acid Red 138, and Direct Yellow 23 were found to be 76%, 71%, 58%, 93%, 94%, and 90% respectively after 24hrs reaction of alkalophilic strain Pseudomonas sp. YBE-12.

When some disperse dye was decolored with oxidation power of ozone, the results in investigation of decoloration behavior with dye solution and its order of reaction and variation of TOC were as follow: 1. Order of decoloration for Some disperse dye is C.I. Disperse Blue 79>Blue 73> Red 343>Red 60>Blue 354>Yellow 42. 2. Velocity of decoloration for the all dyestuffs was the fastest when pH 3. 3. TOC was rapidly reduced between 10 min. and 20 min. 4. For the reduction of TOC ozone was needs many times as compared with decoloration of dyestuffs.
The adsorption behaviors of acid dye and disperse dye on silk and nylon fabrics were examined, in one bath dyeing system on silk/nylon blend fabric with disperse dyes and acid dyes. In the dyeing of nylon fabric with C. I. Disperse Red 19 (Red 19) and C. I. Disperse Red 60 (Red 60), dye uptake of Red 19 was higher than that of Red 60. When silk/nylon blend fabric was dyed with Red 19 and Red 0, the dye uptake on nylon was influenced by the ffinity of the dye to the silk fabric. In the dyeing of silk/nylon with C. I. Acid Blue 80 and C. I. Acid Yellow 121, solid shade could not be obtained with the conventional method but could be obtained with the dyeing resist agent for nylon. There was not any relationship between K/S value and Munsell value, but Munsell value tended to change with the K/S value.
