  • Network based intrusion detection system is a computer network security tool. In this paper, we present an intrusion detection system based on Self-Organizing Maps (SOM) and Resilient Propagation Neural Network (RPROP) for visualizing and classifying intrusion and normal patterns. We introduce a cluster matching equation for finding principal associated components in component planes. We apply data from The Third International Knowledge Discovery and Data Mining Tools Competition (KDD cup'99) for training and testing our prototype. From our experimental results with different network data, our scheme archives more than 90 percent detection rate, and less than 5 percent false alarm rate in one SYN flooding and two port scanning attack types.

  • In this experiment we emphasized the cooperative small group learning and the members of my group worked together to succeed and communicate their mathematics ideas freely. The researcher(teacher) became an observer and facilitator of small group interaction, paying attention to the ongoing learning process, Sometimes the researcher suggested some investigation approach(or discovery)being written by computer software or papers. In this experiment we provided 6 activities as follows : (1) changing the conditions in given problem. (2) operating the meaningful heuristics with the problem sets. (3) creating the problem situations related to understanding (4) creating the Modeling situations. (5) creating the problem related to combinatorial thinking in real world. (6) posing some real problem from real world. we could observed several conjectures First, Attitude and chility to interpret the problem setting is highly important to pose the problem effectively. Second, Generating the understanding can be a great tool to pose the problem effectively. Third, Sometimes inquiry approach represented by software or programmed book could be some motivation to enhance the posing activities. Forth, The various posing activities relate to one concept could give the students some opportunity to be adaptable and flexible in the their approach to unfamiliar problem sets.

  • The targeted nuclease clustered, regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats/CRISPR-associated proteins (CRISPR/Cas) system has recently emerged as a prominent gene manipulation method. Because of its ease in programming targeted DNA/protein binding through RNA in a vast range of organisms, this prokaryotic defense system is a versatile tool with many applications in the research field as well as high potential in agricultural and clinical improvements. This review will present a brief history that led to its discovery and adaptation. We also present some of its restrictions, and modifications that have been performed to overcome such restrictions, focusing specifically on the most common CRISPR/Cas9 mediated non-homologous end joint repair.

  • The genome sequencing project has generated and will continue to generate enormous amounts of sequence data including 5 eukaryotic and about 60 prokaryotic genomes. Given this ever-increasing amounts of sequence information, new strategies are necessary to efficiently pursue the next phase of the genome project-the elucidation of gene expression patterns and gene product function on a whole genome scale. In order to assign functional information to the genome sequence, DNA chip(or gene microarray) technology was developed to efficiently identify the differential expression pattern of independent biological samples. DNA chip provides a new tool for genome expression analysis that may revolutionize many aspects of biotechnology including new drug discovery and disease diagnostics.

  • The genome sequencing project has generated and will contitute to generate enormous amounts of sequence data. Since the first complete genome sequence of bacterium Haemophilus in fluenzae was published in 1995, the complete genome sequences of 2 eukaryotic and about 22 prokaryotic organisms have detemined. Given this everincreasing amounts of sequence information, new strategies are necessary to efficiently pursue the phase of the geome project- the elucidation of gene expression patterns and gene product function on a whole genome scale. • Xenograft models of human cancer play an important role in the screening and evaluation of candidates for new anticancer agents. The models, which are derived from human tumor cell lines and are classified according to the transplant site, such as ectopic xenograft and orthotopic xenograft, are still utilized to evaluate therapeutic efficacy and toxicity. The metastasis model is modified for the evaluation and prediction of cancer progression. Recently, animal models are made from patient-derived tumor tissue. The patient-derived tumor xenograft models with physiological characters similar to those of patients have been established for personalized medicine. In the discovery of anticancer drugs, standard animal models save time and money and provide evidence to support clinical trials. The current strategy for using xenograft models as an informative tool is introduced.

  • In this article I discuss the main results of our research in space biology from the simple early investigations with human Iymphocytes in the early eighties until the projects in tissue engineering of the next decade on the international space station ISS. The discovery that T Iymphocyte activation is nearly totally depressed in vitro in 0g conditions showed that mammalian single cells are sensitive to the gravitational environment. Such finding had important implications in basic research, medicine and biotechnology. Low gravity can be used as a tool to investigate complicated and still obscure biological process from a new perspective not available to earth-bound laboratories. Low gravity may also favor certain bioprocesses involving the growth of tissues and thus lead to commercial and medical applications. However, shortage of crew time and of other resources, lack of sophisticated instrumentation, safety constraints pose serious limits to biological endeavors in space laboratories.

  • Background : The purpose of this study is to analyze research trends on the korean medical treatment and develop the way of psoriasis cure. Object & Method : This study is based on analysis of recent paper about korean medical treatment of psoriasis using WKUCL(Wonkwang University Central Library) and NDSL(National Discovery for Science Leader). I searched papers using the keyword "Psoriasis". Inclusion criteria was last 13 years. Result : A total 19 studies were found. They turned out to be effective treatment methods of acupuncture, moxibustion, internal medicines, external applications, and evaluation tool of PASI(psoriasis area and severity index). Conclusion : According to the results, korean medical treatments have good effects on psoriasis. If we accumulate the more clinical reports, it will be helpful to map out a systematic treatment of korean medicine on psoriasis.

  • The language of architecture is a kind of tool which helps people to experience the environment not as the thing itself but as a meaningful one. It, gathered by place, constitutes 'genius loci', as the existential structures. It, in other words, gives a thing 'cognitive quality', and serve people to 'dwell' because 'a place is a gathering thing with concrete presence.' Our environment, only when it possesses the language, presents itself as a namable thing or an understood world. Such a meaningful identification is dwelling. The modern world is a complex melting-pot. It is 'complexities' and 'contradiction'. The language of architecture is never created, rather it is selected by needs of the time and the place. In this sense, architectural design means discovery and interpretation of the poetic order of architypal form and style, and the poetic order is a way for people to dwell in the humanistic sense. These reminds me of Martin Heidegger's statement : "Architecture belongs to poetry, and its purpose is to help man to dwell."

  • The conventional relational databases have difficulties to efficiently represent various of data because an attribute of a tuple should have only one elementary value. In order to represent ambiguous and imprecious information, fuzzy set and rough set have been gaining acceptance, especially as a tool for knowledge discovery in databases. One of former researches applies only one fuzzy membership value to a tuple. We suggest a more advanced model for data representation by way of applying many membership values to a tuple, i.e. one membership value to each attribute of a tuple.
