  • The velocity dipole field method is presented for real-time collision avoidance of mobile robots. The direction of motion of the obstacle is used as the axis of the dipole field, and the speed of the obstacle is used to proportionally strengthen the dipole field. The elliptical field lines of the dipole field are useful to skillfully guide the robot around obstacles, quite similar to the way humans avoid moving obstacles. Field modulation coefficient is also introduced to weaken the field effect as the obstacle recedes. The real-time algorithm of the velocity dipole field has been devised and experimentally tested on the robot soccer test-bed. The results show the capability of the new real-time collision avoidance strategy and how it can overcome the weaknesses in the conventional potential field method. The new method makes an explicit and proactive action of collision avoidance, unlike the conventional method, which forces the robot merely away from the obstacle aimlessly. The proposed method delivers greater capability with no considerable computational overhead

  • We report on low-voltage pentacene TFTs with a Al2O3/OTS as a gate dielectric. Improving device characteristics, we performed chemical modification of self-grown Al2O3 surface with an octadecyltrichlorosilane(OTS) self-assembled monolayer(SAM). As the result of this combination, the mobility was improved from 0.3 to $0.45\;cm^2/Vs$. In addition, we examined that the SAM dipole electric field have an influence on gate leakage current, transfer and output characteristics.

  • We define the basic minimal coupling Hamiltonian of the atomic systems in the Coulomb guage and show that this Hamiltonian yields the correct equations of motion for the operators of interest. Using the unitary transformation and making the dipole approximation, we calculate the effect of polarization of the dipoles on the interaction Hamiltonian of the system. ystem.

  • Controlled source audio-frequency magnetotelluric (CSAMT) has the great advantage of efficient mapping resistivity distribution and relatively deep depth of investigation. Moreover, CSAMT may be regarded more attractive than audio-frequency magnetotelluric in the sense of the strong and controllable signal. However, it has the problem such as undershoot and/or near-field effect that is hard to be interpreted if the interpretation method of MT is directly applied. The problem arises from the existance of controlled source which makes CSAMT attractive. So the characteristics of CSAMT response should be thoroughly understood prior to interpretation stage. In this study, numerical modeling program for horizontally layered earth was developped for the interpretation of CSAMT field data. CSAMT field survey was run as a follow-up to resistivity dipole-dipole study over the same survey line at Bongmyung coal mine. The survey used a grounded dipole source 2 Km in length and located 7.5Km south in this study. A good agreement between field CSAMT data and calculated data was demonstrated even in geologically complex earth situations.

  • Graphene field-effect transistors (GFET) is one of candidates for future high speed electronic devices since graphene has unique electronic properties such as high Fermi velocity (vf=10^6 m/s) and carrier mobility ($15,000cm^2/V{\cdot}s$) [1]. Although the contact property between graphene and metals is a crucial element to design high performance electronic devices, it has not been clearly identified. Therefore, we need to understand characteristics of graphene/metal contact in the GFET. Recently, it is theoretically known that graphene on metal can be doped by presence of interface dipole layer induced by charge transfer [2]. It notes that doping type of graphene under metal is determined by difference of work function between graphene and metal. In this study, we present the GFET fabricated by contact metals having high work function (Pt, Ni) for p-doping and low work function (Ta, Cr) for n-doping. The results show that asymmetric conductance depends on work function of metal because the interfacial dipole is locally formed between metal electrodes and graphene. It induces p-n-p or n-p-n junction in the channel of the GFET when gate bias is applied. In addition, we confirm that charge transfer regions are differently affected by gate electric field along gate length.

  • The dielectric polarizability-related factors contributing to the $\tau$$_{\varepsilon}$ have been analysed in terms of dielectric permittivity $\varepsilon$, Tolerance Factor (TF), and octahedron tilt angles in (1-x)CaTi $O_3$-x[A(B', B″) $O_3$] (A=Ca, La, Li, B'=Al, Fe, Mg, B″=Nb, Ta) and (S $r_{0.2}$C $a_{0.8}$)( $Ti_{1-x}$ Z $r_{x}$) $O_3$. All the compounds have the orthorhombic Pbnm structure except the end members A(B', B″) $O_3$ and the solid solutions of x$\geq$0.8. The additional dipole field effect is suggested as a dominant factor contributing to $\tau$$_{\varepsilon}$ in CaTi $O_3$-based ceramics having relatively large $\varepsilon$, which has not been generally considered in the previous reports dealing with the $\tau$$_{\varepsilon}$. This study has been focussed on delineating the dipole field effect on the $\tau$$_{\varepsilon}$ in comparison to the octahedron tilt effect in CaTi $O_3$-based ceramics.cs..cs.

  • In this paper, we investigate the radio wave radiation pattern to measure the actual field strength for the transmission antenna dipole antenna and the CP-ring antenna being used in our country as FM station, and the comparison was for field application. Compare results, If the transmitting station and the relay station which is located in the middle of a service area has been a useful CP-dipole antenna (four directions). CP-ring antenna having a directivity because the reflection effect of the tower was able to adjust the orientation to prevent the spread of menstrual another service area in the main direction was able to radiate high propagation 5~9dB. Especially, If the transmitting station and the relay station is located on one side of the service area for radiating radio waves in three directions by using the CP-ring antennas focus the orientation of the antenna in populated areas and road area can improve the broadcast reception environment.

  • In this paper, we analyze the radio propagation path loss characteristics for the vertical electric dipole radiation over the perfect electric conductor(PEC) ground plane. Most research have been performed about the electromagnetic analysis of vertical electric dipole in free space for time domain or frequency domain. But this paper present the radio propagation path loss over PEC ground plane in time domain under the assumption of the vertical electric dipole as a base station. From the simulated results, the ground plane effect can change the location of near field from transmitting antenna and the transient responses at mobile are calculated. The results of this paper can be applied to surface radar or signal processing applications.

  • In our previous work we developed the Finite Field method in order to calculate the fifth-order Raman response. The method was applied to calculate various polarization components of the two-dimensional response of liquid $CS_2$. So far, all calculations relied on the dipole-induced dipole. Accurate time-dependent density functional theory calculations have shown that this model has big discrepancies, when molecules are close together as in the liquid. We now report results of investigations on the importance of multipole and electron overlap effects on the polarizability and the fifth-order Raman response. It is shown that these collision effects, especially the induced multipoles, are crucial in the description of the fifth-order response. The impact is found to be especially pronounced for the χ_{mmzzzz}^{(5)}$response that is solely due to interaction induced effects. The calculated response will be compared with various experimental results.
