  • Etoposide is a chemotherapeutic medication used to treat various types of cancer, including breast cancer. It is established that pulsed electromagnetic field (PEMF) therapy can enhance the effects of anti-cancer chemotherapeutic agents. In this study, we investigated whether PEMFs influence the anti-cancer effects of etoposide in MCF-7 cells and determined the signal pathways affected by PEMFs. We observed that co-treatment with etoposide and PEMFs led to a decrease in viable cells compared with cells solely treated with etoposide. PEMFs elevated the etoposide-induced PARP cleavage and caspase-7/9 activation and enhanced the etoposide-induced down-regulation of survivin and up-regulation of Bax. PEMF also increased the etoposide-induced activation of DNA damage-related molecules. In addition, the reactive oxygen species (ROS) level was slightly elevated during etoposide treatment and significantly increased during co-treatment with etoposide and PEMF. Moreover, treatment with ROS scavenger restored the PEMF-induced decrease in cell viability in etoposide-treated MCF-7 cells. These results combined indicate that PEMFs enhance etoposide-induced cell death by increasing ROS induction-DNA damage-caspase-dependent apoptosis.

  • High energy electron beams were to concentrically dose inside a tumor and more energy is a shape decreased of dose. Therefore, it is useful to radiation therapy of a tumor. Also high energy electron beams ionized into collision with a atom in structure material of tissue and it has big changes to dose distribution by multiple scattering. The study had to establish characteristic of electron beams from interaction of electron beams and materials. Experiment method was to measure dependence of electron beam central axis for depth dose curve, field flatness and symmetry and field size dependence. The results were able to evaluate data for a datum pint of electron beam. Also radiotherapy has to be considered for not only energy pencil of lines but characteristic, electron guide and isodose curves distribution.

  • This study aims to develop a personalized music digital therapeutic based on MBTI personality types and apply it to depression treatment. In the data collection stage, participants' MBTI personality types and music preferences were surveyed to build a database, which was then preprocessed as input data for the KNN model. The KNN model calculates the distance between personality types using Euclidean distance and recommends music suitable for the user's MBTI type based on the nearest K neighbors' data. The developed system was tested with new participants, and the system and algorithm were improved based on user feedback. In the final validation stage, the system's effectiveness in alleviating depression was evaluated. The results showed that the MBTI personality type-based music recommendation system provides a personalized music therapy experience, positively impacting emotional stability and stress reduction. This study suggests the potential of nonpharmacological treatments and demonstrates that a personalized treatment experience can offer more effective and safer methods for treating depression.

  • The aim of this study was to evaluate the photodynamic therapy effects against staphylococci using Photofrin and Radachlorin with Light emitting diode(LED). Experimental methods, The bacterial suspensions containing Staphylococcus aureus and Staphylococcus epidermidis at $1{\times}10^5$ were prepared and diluted to different concentrations of photosensitizer, Photofrin or Radachlorin, on 1.25, 2. 5,5 and $10{\mu}g/ml$. The bacterial suspensions were exposed to 630 and 670 nm LED light at the energy density of 14.4 and $19.8J/cm^2$, respectively. The CFU results of S. aureus and S. epidermidis were showed 33 and 50 colony forming at $5{\mu}g/ml$ of Photofrin, respectively and both of them perfectely were dead at $5{\mu}g/ml$ of Radachlorin. The fluorescent intensity by flow cytometry was showed the increase in the dead cells than the normal cells. In the TEM photograph, the damage of bacterial membrane and the distortion of cell morphology were observed. These results suggest that photodynamic therapy combine with Photofrin and Radachlorin can be applied a new modality for antibacterial therapy.
