In order to decide the location of appropriate onshore wind farm with higher potential wind energy, several decision processes using Geographic Information System (GIS) including Digital Elevation Map (DEM) were proposed and we also estimated the wind resources through the proposed decision process. Decision process consists with three steps. First step is excluding inappropriate location geographically using DEM data including SRTM (Shuttle Radar Topography Mission) terrain data, landslide, land-use, roadway, and forest road data. And the second step of decision process is consideration of the difficulty caused by the natural environmental problem. This step is carried out using ECVAM (Environmental Conservation Value Assessment Map) data. And final step is determination of the most suitable location through the Moving Suitability Identification Method (MSIM) based on the moving potentially estimated wind resources area. Proposed decision process was applied over the Korean Peninsula. Wind resource potential estimated by the first and the second step is cases shows 35.09 GW and 7.17 GW, respectively, and the total evaluated energy from the all proposed step were 0.43 GW and 1.87 GW for the 3 km and 1.5 km geographical grid size, respectively.

Recently, UAVs and Drones have been used for various applications. In particular, in the field of surveying, there are studies on the technology for monitoring the terrain based on the high resolution image data obtained by using the UAV-equipped digital camera or various sensors, or for generating high resolution orthoimage, DSM, and DEM. In this study, we analyzed the accuracy of GCP(Ground control point) matching using UAV and VRS-GPS. First, we used VRS-GPS to pre-empt the ground reference point, and then imaged at a base altitude of 150m using UAV. To obtain DSM and orthographic images of 646 images, RMSE was analyzed using pix4d mapper version As a result, even if the number of GCP matches is more than five, the error range of the national basic map(scale : 1/5,000) production work regulations is observed, and it is judged that the digital map revision and gauging work can be utilized sufficiently.

The moors ecosystem is sensitive environment change and weak in artificial interference. These nature property are very important to people. It is necessary to preservation and protection the moors with a countermeasure. We really need to Environment-GIS(E-GIS) using Geographical Information System(GIS) and digital map including range, correct position and attribute data of moors. In this study, we take priority of making a database of moors management. Taking effect an environment assesment, we concentrate on a standard method of digital map production and a preservation of moors in our research using GIS. Especially, we have to preserve our important national heritage using GIS when Environment Assesment is conducting under construction. We suggest to pre-estimated model of hidden moors as analysing terrain, geological feature, a geographical distribution of plants and animals using GIS.
Electro-Optical Camera(EOC) is the main payload of Korea Multi-Purpose SATellite(KOMPSAT) with the mission of cartography to build up a digital map of Korean territory including Digital Terrain Elevation Map(DTEM). This instrument which comprises EOC Sensor Assembly and EOC Electronics Assembly produces the panchromatic images of 6.6 m GSD with a swath wider than 17 km by push-broom scanning and spacecraft body pointing in a visible range of wavelength, 510 ~ 730 nm. The high resolution panchromatic image is to be collected for 2 minutes during 98 minutes of orbit cycle covering about 800 km along ground track, over the mission lifetime of 3 years with the functions of programmable rain/offset and on-board image data storage. The image of 8 bit digitization, which is collected by a full reflective type F8.3 triplet without obscuration, is to be transmitted to Ground Station at a rate less than 25 Mbps. EOC was elaborated to have the performance which meets or surpasses its requirements of design phase. The spectral response the modulation transfer function, and the uniformity of all the 2592 pixel of CCD of EOC are illustrated as they were measured for the convenience of end-user. The spectral response was measured with respect to each gain setup of EOC and this is expected to give the capability of generating more accurate panchromatic image to the EOC data users. The modulation transfer function of EOC was measured as greater than 16% at Nyquist frequency over the entire field of view which exceeds its requirement of larger than 10%, The uniformity that shows the relative response of each pixel of CCD was measured at every pixel of the Focal Plane Array of EOC and is illustrated for the data processing.
The aim of this study is to analyze the accuracy of SRTM Ver 3.0 and ASTER GDEM Ver 2 over Korea. To enable this, accuracy analysis was performed by using precise DEM which was made with multiple aerial image matching and national base map benchmark. The result of this study identified both SRTM and ASTER have different features. The height of the SRTM was found to be higher (3.8 m on average) at lower elevation and lower (8.4 m on average) at higher elevation. In contrast, the ASTER was found to be lower than the actual height at both lower and higher elevation (2.92 m, 4.51 m on average). The cause of this height bias according to the elevation is due to the differences in data acquisition and processing methods of DEM. It was identified however that both SRTM and ASTER were within allowable limits of error. In addition, RMSE of the SRTM was smaller than the ASTER in comparison to benchmark, and also the bias trend both at higher and lower terrain were similar to the precise DEM which was made with multiple aerial image matching. Therefore, the reliability of SRTM can be considered to be higher.

In order to promote efficient coastal management, it is important to continuously monitor the characteristics of the terrain, which are changed by various factors. In this study, time series UAV images were taken of Gyeokpo beach. And the standard deviation of ±11cm(X), ±10cm(Y), and ±15cm(Z) was obtained as a result of comparing with the VRS measurement performance for UAV position accuracy evaluation. Therefore, it was confirmed that the tolerance of the digital map work rule was satisfied. In addition, as a result of monitoring the erosion and sedimentation changes using the DSM(digital surface model) constructed through UAV images, an average of 0.01 m deposition occurred between June 2018 and December 2018, and in December 2018 and June 2019. It was analyzed that 0.03m of erosion occurred. Therefore, 0.02m of erosion occurred between June 2018 and June 2019. From the topographical change analysis results, the area of erosion and sediment height was analyzed, and the area of erosion and sedimentation was widely distributed in the ±0.5m section. If we continuously monitor the topographical changes in the coastal regions by using the 3D terrain modeling results using the time series UAV images presented in this study, we can support the coastal management tasks such as supplement or dredging of sand.

Recent progress in state-of-the-art geospatial information technologies such as digital mapping, LiDAR(Light Detection And Ranging), and high-resolution satellite imagery provides various data sources fer Digital Elevation Model(DEM). DEMs are major source to extract elements of the hydrological terrain property that are necessary for efficient watershed management. Especially, watersheds extracted from DEM are important geospatial database to identify physical boundaries that are utilized in water resource management plan including water environmental survey, pollutant investigation, polluted/wasteload/pollution load allocation estimation, and water quality modeling. Most of the previous studies related with watershed extraction using DEM are mainly focused on the hydrological elements analysis and preprocessing without considering grid size of the DEMs. This study aims to analyze accuracy of the watersheds extracted from DEMs with various grid sizes generated by LiDAR data and digital map, and appropriate preprocessing methods.
In this study, a GIS model to simulate the behavior of surface forest fires was developed on the basis of forest fire growth prediction algorithm. This model consists of three modules for data-handling, simulation and report writing. The data-handling module was designed to interpret such forest fire environment factors as terrain, fuel and weather and provide sets of data required in analyzing fire behavior. The simulation module simulates the fire and determines spread velocity, fire intensity and burnt area over time associated with terrain slope, wind, effective humidity and such fuel condition factors as fuel depth, fuel loading and moisture content for fire extinction. The module is equipped with the functions to infer the fuel condition factors from the information extracted from digital vegetation map sand the fuel moisture from the weather conditions including effective humidity, maximum temperature, precipitation and hourly irradiation. The report writer has the function to provide results of a series of analyses for fire prediction. A performance test of the model with the 2002 Chungyang forest fire showed the predictive accuracy of 61% in spread rate.

An Ortho-image is the production of removed geometrical displacement, which is generated the aerial image distortion and the relief displacement, etc., using the DSM (Digital Surface Model). Accordingly, the resolution of raw image and the accuracy of DSM will has significant impacts on the ortho-image accuracy. Since the latest DMCII250 aerial camera delivers the high resolution images with five centimeters Ground Sampling Distance(GSD), it expects to generate the high density point clouds and the high quality ortho-images. Therefore, this research has planned for reviewing the potentiality and accuracy of high quality ortho-image production. Following to proceed the research, DSM has been produced through the high density point cloud extracted from DMCII250 aerial image to supply of high density DSM by creation of ortho-image. The research results has been identified that images with the DSM brought out higher degrees in positional accuracy and quality of ortho-image, compared with the ortho-image, produced from the existing digital terrain map or DSM data.
