  • To manage the architecture information of Seoul, aerial photographs have been taken and Photographic Interpretation Status Maps(PISP) have been produced through interpretation process. However PISP of SEOUL has a number of errors and difficulties to update maps, owing to its analogue formation by hand skill. In this study, some digitizing methods are tested to make Digital Photographic Interpretation Status Maps(DPISP). The digitizing methods by scanning maps, using ortho-images and true ortho-images, digital correction plotting process, and LiDAR techniques were used for comparative analysis of PISP. As a result of this study, the author suggest DPISP by the digital correction plotting method is proper for economical efficiency and its accuracy of the architecture information.

  • The import of cartography is spoke for surveying technique level of the country. Also, it is the implied expression means about international operations amount in the world of people in the country. Nowadays, various digital maps on a reduced scale were drawn in Korea including the topographic series of a nation. Though these digital maps are drawn and revised by using aerial photogrammetry or satellite image, there are some problems that it is difficult to revise or renew the topography and natural feature immediately which changes frequently. As the countermeasures of these problems we use 3D Laser Scanning accumbency method, which provides user with convenience and accumbency accuracy which is required to revise and renew digital maps.

  • This paper introduces an automated method for building height recovery through the integration of high-resolution satellite images and digital vector maps. A cross-correlation matching method along the vertical line locus on the Ikonos images was deployed to recover building heights. The rational function models composed of rational polynomial coefficients were utilized to create a stereopair of the epipolar resampled Ikonos images. Building footprints from the digital maps were used for locating the vertical guideline along the building edges. The digital terrain model (DTM) was generated from the contour layer in the digital maps. The terrain height derived from the DTM at each foot of the buildings was used as the starting location for image matching. At a preset incremental value of height along the vertical guidelines derived from vertical line loci, an evaluation process that is based on the cross-correlation matching of the images was carried out to test if the top of the building has reached where maximum correlation occurs. The accuracy of the reconstructed buildings was evaluated by the comparison with manually digitized 3D building data derived from aerial photographs.

  • The purpose of this study is to find out the ways to supplement the Census, the digital maps, and their integration in comparison with the U.S. Census and the TIGER file and in light of their usefulness for urban and environmental analysis in Korea. Recommendations in this study are: (1) to include questions on household income and housing price in the Census, (2) to implement a 1~5% sampling survey similar to PUMS in the U.S. Census, (3) to make the Census Tract as a minimum size unit of analysis through subdivision of current Eup, Myon, and Dong into 5~10 smaller units, and (4) to utilize the 1:5,000 scale digital maps completed by the Korea National Geographic Institute for the fast and efficient activation of digital maps instead of producing 1:1,000 or 1:1,200 scale digital maps through each city's effort.

  • The aim of this paper is to solve the open problem on product properties of digital covering maps raised from [5]. Namely, let us consider the digital images $X_1 {\subset}Z^{n_{0}}$ with $k_0-adjacency$, $Y_1{\subset}Z^{n_{1}}$ with $k_3-adjacency$, $X_2{\subset}Z^{n_{2}}$ with $k_2-adjacency$ and $Y_2{\subset}Z^{n_{3}}$ with $k_3-adjacency$. Then the reasonable $k_4-adjacency$ of the product image $X_1{\times}X_2$ is determined by the $k_0-$ and $k_2-adjacency$ and the suitable k_5-adjacency$ is assumed on $Y_1{\times}Y_2$ via the $k_1-$ and $k_3-adjacency$ [3] such that each of the projection maps is a digitally continuous map, e.g., $p_1\;:\;X_1{\times}X_2{\rightarrow}X_1$ is a digitally ($k_4,\;k_1$)-continuous map and so on. Let us assume $h_1\;:\;X_1{\rightarrow}Y_1$ to be a digital $(k_0, k_1)$-covering map and $h_2\;:\;X_2{\rightarrow}Y_2$ to be a digital $(k_2,\;k_3)$-covering map. Then we show that the product map $h_1{\times}h_2\;:\;X_1{\times}X_2{\rightarrow}Y_1{\times}Y_2$ need not be a digital $(k_4,k_5)$-covering map.

  • Currently, aortal surveying is getting advanced in the world. New digital equipment for aerial surveying makes improvement of accuracy, economical efficiency and reduces cost. for a result, however, there are required to produce a accurate product. In this study, we used two kinds of data, the one which used only GPS/INS data and the other one which used GPS/INS data added on GCPs from digital maps, and made as a mosaic to compare both of them whether which one is better based on digital maps. the result is that the data which used GPS/INS data added on GCPs from digital maps was a lot better than GPS/INS data.

  • Due to the increased use of digital maps in the construction industry, there is a growing demand for high-quality digital map analysis. With the large amounts of data found in digital maps at earthwork sites, there is a particular need to enhance the accuracy and speed of digital map analysis. To address this issue, our study aims to develop new technology and verify its performance to address non-ground and range mismatch issues that commonly arise. Additionally, our study presents a new digital map analysis framework for earthwork sites that utilizes three newly developed technologies to improve the performance of digital map analysis. Through this, it achieved about 95% improvement in analysis performance compared to the existing framework. This study is expected to contribute to the improvement of the quality of digital map analysis data of earthworks.

  • Comparing to general scanning data, the 3D digital map for large construction sites and complex buildings consists of millions of points. The large construction site needs to be scanned multiple times by drone photogrammetry or terrestrial laser scanner (TLS) survey. The scanned point cloud data are required to be registrated with high resolution and high point density. Unlike the registration of 2D data, the matrix of translation and rotation are used for registration of 3D point cloud data. Archiving high accuracy with 3D point cloud data is not easy due to 3D Cartesian coordinate system. Therefore, in this study, iterative closest point (ICP) registration method for improve accuracy of 3D digital map was employed by different overlap ratio on 3D digital maps. This study conducted the accuracy test using different overlap ratios of two digital maps from 10% to 100%. The results of the accuracy test presented the optimal overlap ratios for an ICP registration method on digital maps.

Total 17 regulations related to spatial database construction and major aerial survey firms were analyzed in terms of working process, equipments, accuracy of results. It is standardized the process of making new digital maps using aerial photography, revising existing digital maps, producing digital elevation models and developing imagery maps. Quality checking factors for spatial data construction process are also established.

  • To build a spatial database from digital maps, it is necessary to rebuild a seamless-map with discrete tile-based digital maps. The sequential merge methods have the disadvantage of degenerating concurrency. In this paper, we consider the implementation of the system based on modified 2PC protocol to retain the concurrent merge. As the engineers share the merge through the system, they can concurrently proceed to merge by negotiation.
