Soft-$\alpha$ Filter Technology for image enhancement of MPEG-2 Video (MPEG-2 비디오의 화질 향상을 위한 소프트-$\alpha$ 필터 기법)

  • Visual organs play an important role in human information recognition processes. If they are expressed in a way of digital information, it makes much bigger amount of visual information among any other information. For that reason, MPEG-2 has been taken use of to represent information compressing technology in multi-media. Although the imported data would basically contain noises, when original video images are encoded into MPET-2. Accordingly, we propose soft- $\alpha$ filter to improve image quality of digital image received from the actual image and to reduce noises from them. We also propose a method combining vertical/horizontal filter and soft- $\alpha$ filter on MPEG-2 video image. We can get two kinds of effects from the advantages of this kind of combination. Firstly, it will reduce processing time ducting horizontal and vetical filtering process. It will cover time for soft- $\alpha$ filter. Secondly, it will simplify the colors in horizontal and vertical filter. Therefore we can get clearer quality without noises from soft- $\alpha$ filter.

Medical Image Compression using Adaptive Subband Threshold

  • Medical imaging techniques such as Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), Computed Tomography (CT) and Ultrasound (US) produce a large amount of digital medical images. Hence, compression of digital images becomes essential and is very much desired in medical applications to solve both storage and transmission problems. But at the same time, an efficient image compression scheme that reduces the size of medical images without sacrificing diagnostic information is required. This paper proposes a novel threshold-based medical image compression algorithm to reduce the size of the medical image without degradation in the diagnostic information. This algorithm discusses a novel type of thresholding to maximize Compression Ratio (CR) without sacrificing diagnostic information. The compression algorithm is designed to get image with high optimum compression efficiency and also with high fidelity, especially for Peak Signal to Noise Ratio (PSNR) greater than or equal to 36 dB. This value of PSNR is chosen because it has been suggested by previous researchers that medical images, if have PSNR from 30 dB to 50 dB, will retain diagnostic information. The compression algorithm utilizes one-level wavelet decomposition with threshold-based coefficient selection.

  • This Paper deals with the economical equipment control which is used by internet network system at the industrial workplace. If the control devices can be accessed by internet, we can have the developed possibility of work conditions. in this paper, we presented the advanced digital timer which has a communication function to control and observe panel to realize control solution based on internet to be easily applicable at workplace with low cost, and we used RS-485 serial communication module to have parallel expansibility and safety. And, this system was experimented and designed for easy system management and status check from remote station through internet. As the result for experiment, the circuit configuration would be more simplified than the existing, and it is expected that multi connection control and monitoring can be simply implemented with low cost equipment at industrial workplace.

  • Zero-Cross Detector makes pilot signal to control the power to CEDM(Control Element Drive Mechanism). Existing Zero-Cross Detectors has had a problem which can cause unexpected reactor trip resulted from fluctuating frequency of input signal coming from M/G Set. The existing Zero-Cross Detector can't work properly when power frequency is varying because it was designed to work under stable M/G Set operation, and produces wrong pilot signal and output voltage. In this report the Zero-Cross Detector is improved to resolve voltage fluctuating problem by using new devices such as digital noise filtering circuit, variable cycle compensator and alarm circuit. And through the performance verification it shows that new circuit is better than old one. If suggested detector is applied to plant, it is possible to use it under House Load Operation because stable voltage can be generated by new Zero-Cross Detector.

  • This study identifies the empirical effects of CEO's transactional leadership & transformational leadership(LEADERSHIP) on organizational effectiveness(OE) in the consulting industry. Next, this study identifies that if there are any differences on understanding on LEADERSHIP and OE depending on consulting organizations with a propensity for individualism. The analysis of the data shows LEADERSHIP is positively related to OE. Finally it is shown in this study that the consulting organizations with a high individualistic propensity(IP) show perception differences on charismatic leadership, compared to those with a low IP.

  • When mobile node moves into the different IP address area, the mobile node can be set the proper environment parameters automatically by DHCP. If we extend the DHCP option field to support the roles of home agent and foreign agent in mobile IP protocol, mobile node can perform the foreign address registration process of mobile IP protocol when DHCP IP environment is achieved automatically, too. DHCP is supplied in the PC with a series of Windows NT. This paper proposes and implements the functional blocks of extended DHCP nodes and this enables the DHCP node have a role of mobile IP agents without another protocol functional blocks.

  • One of the most important issues in AC PDP is the improvement of luminous efficiency. One possible method for achieving this aim is by increasing Xe partial pressure in discharge gas mixture. The increase of Xe ratio, however, causes the driving voltage to rise, even if brightness is increased. In this study, a new electrode shape is proposed. A test panel fabricated by using a new electrode shows that efficacy has improved by 25 % and sustain voltage has decreased by 20 % compared with the conventional structure.

  • This study examined the P Church in the Large chapel and S Church in the midium chapel were Analyzed to the installed stage broadcast lighting system. As a result of the installation of lighting equipment of LED class in P Church in the Large chapel, it provided clearer image and did not have shadow. While tungsten halogen illumination was very hot and heated to be preaching, LED was not heated so the pastor was very comfortable for preaching. S Church in the Midium chapel due to low ceiling height using LED lighting musical, theater and possibly were directed. If a similar structure of Dae-Hak Street theater to replace the existing fixtures by LED lighting, rendering effective and energy saving effect is thought to have much effect.

  • A low-power low-cost polar transmitter for EDGE is designed in $0.18{\mu}m$ CMOS. A differential delta-sigma modulator (DSM) tunes a three-terminal voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO) to perform RF phase modulation, where the VCO tuning curve is digitally pre-compensated for high linearity and the carrier frequency is calibrated by a dual-mode low-power frequency-locked loop (FLL). A digital intermediate-frequency (IF) pulse-width5 modulator (PWM) drives a complementary power-switch followed by an LC filter to achieve envelope modulation with high efficiency. The proposed transmitter with 9mW power dissipation relaxes the time alignment between the phase and envelope modulations, and achieves an error vector magnitude (EVM) of 4% and phase noise of -123dBc/Hz at 400kHz offset frequency.

  • In this paper, we discuss the differences between an ordinary B-tree and B-tree implemented by NTFS. There are lots of distinctions between the two B-tree, if not understand the distinctions fully, it is difficult to utilize and analyze artifacts of NTFS. Not much, actually, is known about the implementation of NTFS, especially B-tree index for directory management. Several items of B-tree features are performed that includes a node size, minimum number of children, root node without children, type of key, key sorting, type of pointer to child node, expansion and reduction of node, return of node. Furthermore, it is emphasized the fact that NTFS use B-tree structure not B+structure clearly.
