  • Most commercial digital cameras acquire the colors of an image through the color filter array, and interpolate missing pixels of the image. Because of this fact, original pixels and interpolated pixels have different statistical characteristics. If colors of an image are modified, the color filter array pattern that consists of RGB channels is changed. Using this pattern change, a color forgery detection method were presented. The conventional method uses the number of pixels that exceeds the maximum or minimum value of pre-defined block by only exploiting green component. However, this algorithm cannot remove the flat area which is occurred when color is changed. And the conventional method has demerit that cannot detect the forged image with rare green pixels. In this paper, we propose an enhanced color forgery detection algorithm using the normalization and weighted sum of the color components. Our method can reduce the detection error by using all color components and removing flat area. Through simulations, we observe that our proposed method shows better detection performance compared to the conventional method.

  • Tightening of the screws in implant restorations should be accurate and precise. If applied torque is too low, screw loosening would be occurred. With too high torque, the screw fracture might take place. Various torque generating devices are developed and employed to apply a proper torque. The purpose of this investigation was to determine and compare the accuracy of the torque controllers. In this study, 4 types of torque controllers were used; electronic torque controller, torque limiting device, torque indicating device and contra angle torque driver. Digital torque gauge was employed to measure the de-torque value. Thirty cycles of tightening and loosening were done with each torque controller. All implant torque controllers have shown slight errors and deviations. The torque liming device exhibited the most accurate data. No significant difference was found among the mean de-torque values of the electronic torque controller, torque indicating device and contra angle torque driver. In the limitation of this study, it would be recommended that the implant torque controllers should be checked whether uniformed and precise torque can be generated and a measuring error should be corrected.

  • The Multi-Threshold CMOS (MTCMOS) technology provides a solution to the high performance and low power design requirements of mobile computing applications. In this paper, we (i) motivate the post-mask-tooling performance enhancement technique combined with the MTCMOS leakage current suppression technology, and (ii) develop a practical MTCMOS ASIC design methodology which fine-tunes and integrates best-in-class techniques and commercially available tools to fix the new design issues related to the MTCMOS technology. Towards validating the proposed techniques, a Personal Digital Assistant (PDA) processor has been implemented using the methodology, and a 0.18um Process. The fabricated PDA processor operates at 333MHz which has been improved about $23\%$ at no additional cost of redesign and masks, and consumes about 2uW of standby mode leakage power which could have been three orders of magnitude larger if the MTCMOS technology was not applied.

  • In order to satisfy several conditions with respect to size, weight, and costs, automotive radars use an antenna consisting of a small number of receiving channels. If RELAX technique is applied to the automotive radars, angles of targets located in antenna beam can be estimated as well as the number of the targets. However, a small number of receiving channels in the antenna leads to inaccurate spectral estimation in angle domain, which in turn degrades performance of RELAX technique. Therefore, in this study, root-MUSIC technique coupled with MDL criterion is introduced to decide accurate angles of targets in antenna beam. In simulations, we show superior performance of proposed scheme using simulation results when three point targets are located in antenna beam.

  • In this paper, we suggest a scheme to develop an efficient discrete nonlinear model based on polynomial structure for a RF power amplifier(PA). We describe a procedure to extract a discrete nonlinear model such as Taylor series or memory polynomial by sampling the input and output signal of RF PA. The performance of the model is analyzed varying the model parameters such as sample rate, nonlinear order, and memory depth. The results show that the relative error of the model is converged if the parameters are larger than specific values. We suggest an efficient modeling scheme considering complexity of the discrete model depending on the values of the model parameters. Modeling efficiency index(MEI) is defined, and it is used to extract optimum values for the model parameters. The suggested scheme is applied to discrete modeling of various RF PAs with various input signals such as WCDMA, WiBro, etc. The suggested scheme can be applied to the efficient design of digital predistorter for the wideband transmitter.

  • We use a volume-limited sample of quasars in the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS) DR7 quasar catalog to identify quasar groups and address their statistical significance. This quasar sample has a uniform selection function on the sky and nearly a maximum possible contiguous volume that can be drawn from the DR7 catalog. Quasar groups are identified by using the Friend-of-Friend algorithm with a set of fixed comoving linking lengths. We find that the richness distribution of the richest 100 quasar groups or the size distribution of the largest 100 groups are statistically equivalent with those of randomly-distributed points with the same number density and sky coverage when groups are identified with the linking length of $70h^{-1}Mpc$. It is shown that the large-scale structures like the huge Large Quasar Group (U1.27) reported by Clowes et al. (2013) can be found with high probability even if quasars have no physical clustering, and does not challenge the initially homogeneous cosmological models. Our results are statistically more reliable than those of Nadathur (2013), where the test was made only for the largest quasar group. It is shown that the linking length should be smaller than $50h^{-1}Mpc$ in order for the quasar groups identified in the DR7 catalog not to be dominated by associations of quasars grouped by chance. We present 20 richest quasar groups identified with the linking length of $70h^{-1}Mpc$ for further analyses.

  • We present the dependence of halo properties on two different Galactic potentials: the $St{\ddot{a}}ckel$ potential and the Milky Way-like potential known as "Galpy". Making use of the Sloan Digital Sky Survey Data Release 12 (SDSS DR12), we find that the shape of the metallicity distribution and rotation velocity distribution abruptly changes at 15 kpc of $Z_{max}$ (the maximum distance of stellar orbit above or below the Galactic plane) and 32 kpc of $r_{max}$ (the maximum distance of an orbit from the Galactic center) in the $St{\ddot{a}}ckel$, which indicates that the transition from the inner to outer halo occurs at those distances. When adopting the $St{\ddot{a}}ckel$ potential, stars with $Z_{max}$ > 15 kpc show a retrograde motion of $V_{\phi}=-60km\;s^{-1}$, while stars with $r_{max}$ > 32 kpc show $V_{\phi}=-150km\;s^{-1}$. If we impose $V_{\phi}$ < $-150km\;s^{-1}$ to the stars with $Z_{max}$> 15 kpc or $r_{max}$> 32, we obtain the peak of the metallicity distribution at [Fe/H] = -1.9 and -1.7 respectively. However, there is the transition of the metallicity distribution at $Z_{max}=25kpc$, whereas there is no noticeable retrograde motion in the Galpy. The reason for this is that stars with high retrograde motion in the $St{\ddot{a}}ckel$ potential are unbound and stars with low rotation velocity reach to larger region of $Z_{max}$ and $r_{max}$ due to shallower potential in the Galpy. These results prove that as the adopted Galactic potential can affect the interpretation of the halo properties, it is required to have a more realistic Galactic potential for the thorough understanding of the dichotomy of the Galactic halo.

  • Recently, the application of personal proofing service based on social security number(SSN) replacement means for verifying identity in non-face-to-face transactions is increasing. In this paper, we propose a method of applying differentiated personal proofing service on whether identity verification is necessary in the online service provided by ISP and if it is appropriate to apply a certain level of assurance. By analyzing the requirements related to personal proofing required by current ISPs, we analyze the risks for each of the requirements and propose a method of applying differentiated personal proofing service according to the level of identity assurance guarantee to minimize the risks. In applying the proposed method to online service provision, it is possible to reduce user's unnecessary authentication cost by minimizing the application of personal proofing service based on alternative means, and to help protect user personal information by minimizing excessively collected personal information.

  • Turbo code, a kind of error correction coding technique, has been used in the field of digital mobile communication system. As the number of iterations increases, it can achieves remarkable BER performance over AWGN channel environment. However, if the number of iterations Is increases in the several channel environments, any further iteration results in very little improvement, and requires much delay and computation in proportion to the number of iterations. To solve this problems, it is necessary to device an efficient criterion to stop the iteration process and prevent unnecessary delay and computation. In this paper, it proposes an efficient and simple criterion for stopping the iteration process in turbo decoding. By using variance values of noise derived from mean values of LLR in turbo decoder, the proposed algorithm can largely reduce the computation and average number of iterations without BER performance degradation. As a result of simulations, the computation of the proposed algorithm is reduced by about $66{\sim}80%$ compared to conventional algorithm. The average number of iterations is reduced by about $13.99%{\sim}15.74%$ compared to CE algorithm and about $17.88%{\sim}18.59%$ compared to SCR algorithm.

  • The necessity of research on extracting information of face and facial components in animation characters have been increasing since they can effectively express the emotion and personality of characters. In this paper, we introduce a method to extract face and facial components of animation characters by defining a mesh model adequate for characters and by using dominant colors. The suggested algorithm first generates a mesh model for animation characters, and extracts dominant colors for face and facial components by adapting the mesh model to the face of a model character. Then, using the dominant colors, we extract candidate areas of the face and facial components from input images and verify if the extracted areas are real face or facial components by means of color similarity measure. The experimental results show that our method can reliably detect face and facial components of animation characters.
