It is estimated that 2.25 million households accounting for $13.5\%$ of total households will have home networking in 2025. As the need for intelligence and sustainability of residential environment has been increasing, the growing demand for intelligent house is obvious. The purpose of this study was to investigate the perception of consumers on digital home and their needs. A web-survey was conducted and the survey participants were limited to residents living in housing built after 2003. A total of 120 responses were used for data analysis. The images of digital home were categorized into environmental friendliness, convenience, and sophistication. Also the respondents showed the strong need for functions of digital home such as safety from emergency and entertainment.

Network industry is complex combined with various fields of industry, such as communication, broadcast, construction, and home appliances. Moreover, it's fairly lucrative since the growth industry makes lots of added values, interacting with the others. The network industry, usually called 'Ubiquitous', connects some home appliances and makes an integrated system that you can use them with whenever and wherever. A demand for network security, however, has skyrocketed due to the relatively low safety. It's been expected that the market of home security is going to be grown up nearly 30 percent every year. Recently, analog surveilance cameras have been replaced with digital ones, and they will be providing stronger security services taking advantage of mutual interaction with related industies. In this paper, a mobile monitoring system for home security is proposed, which makes it possible to supervise all home appliances wherever you're, using the conventional wired/wireless network infra.

본 연구에서는 전력선 통신 기반의 IT와 통신네트워크 기술을 더하여 전력공급자와 소비자가 실시간 계속적으로 전력사용에 대한 정보를 교환함으로써 실시간 사용량과 효율적인 사용 등을 최적화 할 수 있는 차세대 성장동력이다. 전력 수요자는 실시간으로 전력 사용현황 및 불필요한 사용현황을 파악하여 불필요한 사용을 줄이고 적절한 전력분배와 흐름 통제를 조절 할 수 있다. 즉 전기요금이 가장 저렴한 시간대에 전기를 사용하고, 불필요한 사용을 줄임으로써 사용자가 능동적으로 전기를 사용할 수 있게 된다. 본 논문에서는 스마트 그리드의 기술현황과 전력선 통신에 대한 현황을 알아보도록 한다.

최근 홈네트워크 산업 및 시장에 대한 전망과 기대가 커지고 있는 가운데, 여러 사업자들이 경쟁력 있는 킬러 홈네트워킹 서비스를 찾기 위하여 노력하고 있다. 본 논문에서는 초고속통신사업자가 다양한 ISP들의 서비스나 컨텐츠를 수집, 검증하고, 가입자의 홈 네트워킹 환경을 원격에서 관리하여, 사용자에게 홈네트워킹 서비스를 중개하는 홈네트워킹 서비스 사업모델을 제안 고찰하였다.

Since the late 20th century, digital technology has changed our environment in many ways. The representative advanced homes today embed digital facilities such as a sensor infrastructure, a networking system, and ubiquitous display. In this point of view, this study was intended to define the apartment residents' diverse needs for digital home design. The subjects are 400 wives who live in Busan. The findings are as follows; (1) The factors of the housing activities are extracted as 'guest hosting,' 'family entertaining,' 'digital network,' 'daily domestic affair,' 'non-daily domestic affair,' 'media using,' and 'bathing & exercising' activities. (2) The 'digital network activities' occurred more frequently in the households with non-employed wife and preschool children, and with employed wife and preschool and elementary school children. (3) The factors of the digital home system were extracted as 'safety & maintenance,' 'health & convenience,' 'educational & housekeeping,' and 'cultural & entertaining' systems. (4) The needs of non-employed wives for the safety & maintenance and the educational & housekeeping systems are varied by family life cycle and wife age. While, the needs of employed wives for the educational & housekeeping and the culture & entertaining systems are varied by dwelling-size and wife age.

최근 홈 네트워크 시장에서는 가전 업체를 중심으로 DLNA(Digital Living Network Alliance) 기술 기반 홈 미디어 네트워크 서비스가 활발히 제공되기 시작하고 있다. 현재 DLNA 미디어 기기와 함께 일반적으로 제공되는 DLNA 네트워킹 소프트웨어는 서버 기능, 렌더러 기능 및 디바이스 제어 기능 모두를 포함한 통합 소프트웨어의 성격이 강하다. 그러나 홈 미디어 네트워크 환경에서는 하나의 기기가 여러 기능을 동시에 내장할 필요가 없고 자주 사용하는 기능이 정해져 있는 경우가 많다. 스마트TV의 재생 기능, NAS(Network Attached Storage)의 미디어 저장 기능과 같이 각각의 기기가 특정 역할을 수행하는 홈 미디어 네트워크 환경에서 DLNA 통합 소프트웨어 활용은 오히려 네트워킹 및 프로세싱 측면에서 낭비를 유발한다. 본 논문에서는 현재의 통합 기능 DLNA 네트워킹 소프트웨어를 분석하고, DLNA 디바이스 클래스를 근거로 홈 미디어 기기의 자원을 효율적으로 이용하는 기기 별 DLNA 소프트웨어 모델을 제시한다. 또한 제시한 DLNA 소프트웨어 모델 중 스마트TV 및 스마트폰 용 DLNA 소프트웨어를 구현해 일반적인 DLNA 네트워킹 소프트웨어와의 자원 효율성을 비교한다.

In this paper, we describe the internet-based remote home automation system that con control and manage home appliances or digital devices bi-directionally through Internet. The platform-independency of VRML and Java applet enables users to access their home appliances and to check current state of them in t he virtual reality environment. The main focus is on three aspects. One is on the virtual reality technology to support the user interface efficiently by using 3D GUI in web-browser. Another is on the system architecture that consists of Home server and its manager server called Gate server in this paper. These servers have been implemented by Java RMI which is the basic single programming interface for distribution of objects and services using Java technology. The third, remote PLC controller and each digital devices are composed of home networking by PLC using CEBus protocol.

네트워크 기술이나 반도체 집적기술, 그리고 임베디드 시스템 기술의 발달로 넓은 범위의 영역에서 센서네트워크 활용이 가능해졌다. 따라서 센서 네트워크는 그것이 적용되는 응용분야에 따라서 여러 가지 형태와 차별화 된 특성으로 다양화되고 있다. 지능형 디지털 홈은 고유한 특성의 센서네트워크를 구성할 수 있는 한 분야이다. 본 논문에서는 컴퍼짓 센서 및 제어 네트워크를 제안하고, 이의 차세대 지능형 홈 네트워크 적용에 대해 논의한다. 또한 제안된 네트워크의 개발결과와 이를 기반으로 한 지능형 홈 서비스, 그리고 가상시험환경인 테스트베드의 개발결과를 제시한다.

The Home network system means that information appliances, Home PCs, etc., using wired or wireless network method enable to control and share with peripheral devices such as internet, shared data, a scanner and a printer, and it is networking solution, which intelligent communication will be possible as the system which can do a remote control such as TV Set, refrigerators, air conditioners, DVD players, digital camcorders based on external network using an internet, a potable information terminal and a mobile phone whenever, wherever and freely. In this study, the home network interface solution is used one of the wired network standards, PLC (Power-Line Communication) technology, so we can construct of intelligent home network's home controller without re-build a network at home. On keeping with current waves of thought, we will focus on a home controller development with great interest which is enabled to do an effective managed control, applying intelligent home network technology which can be new paradigm like a cyber apartment.
