  • Recently, analog broadcasting are being converted into digital radio broadcasts, Among the various ways that HD Radio is a candidate for the U.S. approach, Digital Radio will transmit a digital signal to existing analog FM/AM. It provides clear sound quality, traffic information, weather information and various value-added services. In addition, the converted digital radio will be able to meet demand to growing demand for analog FM. In this paper, Digital FM Radio system in the same frequency band using electric field strength of the received digital radio broadcasting interference effects were analyzed. And Digital FM Radio Receiver interference effects were analyzed by interference signal power and signal power. Results were confirmed by applying equation at minimum field strength and SNR.

  • In this paper, the possibility and necessity of the digital broadcasting propulsion in AM and FM is presented based on DRM and DRM+ transmission modes, They are the members of series technological family in digital radio development. As the frequency utilization, the application of DRM+ is flexible in any mode such as IN-BAND or OUT-OF-BAND. When the digital audio broadcasting is planned at LOW-VHF bandwidth such as TV channel No.5 and NO.6 being adjacent to FM band and OUT-Of-BAND DRM+ technology is applied, there is no collision and jamming. Particularly, in the IN-BAND Hybrid mode, it is mentioned that there was the difficulty problem for multiple SFN transmitters uses. Not like the IN-BAND mode the OUT-OF-BAND mode lets multiple transmitters, because neighbor transmitters do not interfere each other. Digital transmitter can be combined with the existing FM transmitter. The intensity of power and size of area can be easily determined according to local broadcasters' condition. And the OUT-OF-BAND mode is advantageous for AM/FM integration in digital radio receiver manufacturing, which makes the conversion schedule much shorter.

It provides clear sound quality, traffic information, weather information and various value-added services. In addition, the converted digital radio will be able to meet demand to growing demand for analog FM. DRM + is an area to place, depending on the frequency of usage to less interference can be placed anywhere. In this paper, DRM + system, a brief description, and is currently using the frequency status were described, accordingly DRM + candidate channel derived measures proposed, the existing analog broadcast and DRM + of interference effects through the simulation has been verified.

  • In this paper, we propose a detection method for Digital Radio Mondiale (DRM) Plus suitable for hybrid mode broadcasting which services both DRM Plus and analog FM within the same frequency band. The guard-interval correlation method of Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) is good for DRM Plus signal detection, but the possibility for false alarm increases when FM signal is received. The proposed method includes a reference block in the guard-interval correlation which increases the identification rate of weak DRM Plus signals and decreases the possibility of false alarm when analog FM is received. The performance of the proposed method is verified through simulations.

  • In this paper, the bit-error-ratio (BER) performances of Digital Radio Mondiale Plus (DRM+) system which stand for the European standard to bring analogue FM radio to digital radio in Band-II(30-170 MHz) are evaluated under multipath fading channel models used in Band-II and the adjacent channel interference (ACI) caused by FM signal. From the simulation results, the DRM+ system shows robust performances under time-varying channel environments even though the speed of a vehicle is equal to 300km/h. And it is shown that the frequency diversity, determined by delay spread of multipath fading channel, increases the coding gain of the DRM+ system with an increase of delay spread. In addition, to guarantee the BER performance of 10-4 for DRM+ system with ACI due to FM signal, the simulation results show that the desired signal-to-ACI power ratio must be more than -30 dB when the carrier frequency distance is 150 kHz.

  • FM Radio communication operating mode is half-duplex mode. FM radio network access control shall be used to detect the presence of active transmissions on a multiple-subscriber-access communications network and shall provide a means to preclude data transmissions from conflicting on the network. In this study, we implemented R-NAD(Random Network Access Delay) that is one of network access control method.

  • The channels of domestic FM broadcast are needed to provide various kinds of new broadcasting services. However, available channels are limited and saturated. The channel interval of FM broadcast is changed from 200 kHz to 100 kHz to maximize utilization efficiency of scarce broadcast spectrum at all over the world. Also, there are many researches such as IBOC(In Band On Channel) and DRM+(Digital Radio Mondial+) that is to allocate the digital signal beside analog bandwidth. But output power is decrease to avoid interference between adjacent radio stations. In this paper, we analyzes the problems of the protection ratio which is decided in 1986 and we propose method to improve about 7~10dB significantly the protection ratio according to the recent DSP(Digital Signal Processing) techniques without loss of both transmission power and broadcast quality. In addition, we examined the possibility of securing two times available channels by reducing minimum frequency interval from 800 kHz to 400 kHz or 600 kHz in the equal site.
