Purpose - This study explores the role of construal levels in predicting online consumer behavior on a retail website. It builds on the conceptualization that simply browsing a website and making actual purchases can be an outcome of how abstractly or concretely one thinks about that experience. This study examines the differential effects of intermediary websites' attributes and seller's product offerings in predicting frequency of visits and actual purchases. Research design, data, and methodology - Data were collected from 188 undergraduate students in a large university of Korea. Hierarchical regression model was utilized to test the proposed effect of website characteristics and seller attributes on visit and purchase. Results - We propose and find that online shopping website visits and purchase frequency have different antecedents. The results reveal that website visit frequency and purchase have different predictors and this can be explained through construal level theory. Specifically, we find purchase frequency is predicted more by website image and financial benefits can be more predictive in actual purchases. Conclusions - Consumer behavior on the internet can be delineated into website visits and actual purchases. First, uplifting the image of the website itself is much more important than just making offerings cheaper. Online shopping website should try to match its features to mental representations that customers go through from just visit (abstract) to purchase (concrete).

Purpose: This study investigated how consumption values influence consumers' purchasing decisions regarding environmentally friendly products. Based on the Consumption Values Theory, six dimensions of consumption values were defined: functional value-quality, functional value-price, emotional value, social value, conditional value, and epistemic value. In particular, the current study analyzed the differential impact of the environmentally friendly consumption values between two consumer groups - users and nonusers. By doing so, more effective marketing strategies can be applied to the target groups. Research design, data, and methodology: The online survey was conducted through Macromill Embrain in Korea to collect data from users vs. nonusers of environmentally friendly products. There were 215 usable responses in the users sample and 225 responses in the nonusers sample. Structural equation modeling (SEM) was performed by using AMOS 18.0. Results: The results revealed that four dimensions of consumption values, i.e., functional value-price, emotional value, conditional value, and epistemic value, positively influenced the users, while functional value-price and epistemic value positively influenced purchase intention toward environmentally friendly products among the nonusers. Conclusions: These results have important implications for applying effective marketing strategies for target consumers. Theoretical and practical implications are also discussed.
Disk galaxies abound with intermediate-scale structures such as OB star complexes, giant clouds, and dust spurs in a close geometrical association with spiral arms. Various mechanisms have been proposed as candidates for their origin, but a comprehensive theory should encompass fundamental physical agents such as self-gravity, magnetic fields, galactic differential rotation, and spiral arms, all of which are known to exist in disk galaxies. Recent numerical simulations incorporating all these physical processes show that magneto-Jeans instability (MJI), in which magnetic tension resists the stabilizing Coriolis force of galaxy rotation, is much more powerful than swing-amplification or the Parker instability in forming self-gravitating intermediate-scale structures. The MJI occurring in shearing and expanding flows off spiral arms rapidly forms structures elongated along the direction perpendicular to the arms, remarkably similar to dust spurs seen in HST images of spiral galaxies. In highly nonlinear stages, these spurs fragment to form bound clumps, possibly evolving into bright arm and interarm H II regions, suggesting that all these intermediate-scale structures in spiral galaxies probably share a common dynamical origin.
In this paper, I discuss some asymmetries of bracketing paradoxes from a corpus-based perspective. Through a critical examination of previous analyses of bracketing paradoxes, it is demonstrated that the cases of apparent asymmetries of bracketing paradoxes are consistently accounted for when combined with the frequency-based parsability in morphological processing. Based on the relative frequency, this paper argues that bracketing paradoxes are well-atttested when their immediate bases are frequent and productive enough to be accessed as a unit and stored as such in memory. This is an extension of Hay 2002 which conducted a comprehensive survey of differential frequency effects in suffix pairs. A frequency-based approach to bracketing paradoxes adopted in this paper can be a challenge to the conventional formal theory by assuming a major role of language use and have the potential to significantly advance our understanding of the asymmetries observed in the real language world.
This paper describes a coordinated control algorithm for rear-side collision avoidance. In order to assist driver actively and increase driver's safety, the proposed coordinated control algorithm is designed to combine lateral control using a steering torque overlay by Motor Driven Power Steering (MDPS) and differential braking by Vehicle Stability Control (VSC). The main objective of a combined control strategy is twofold. The one is to prevent the collision between the subject vehicle and approaching vehicle in the adjacent lanes. The other is to limit actuator's control inputs and vehicle dynamics to safe values for the assurance of the driver's comfort. In order to achieve these goals, the Lyapunov theory and LMI optimization methods has been employed. The proposed coordinated control algorithm for rear-side collision avoidance has been evaluated via simulation using CarSim and MATLAB/Simulink.

The purpose of this study was to examine gender differences in the impact of exposure to peer delinquency among elementary school-age students and the mediating effects of aggression. The study utilized 458 cases (220 male students, 238 female students) of data from the 2015 Korea Welfare Panel Study (KoWePS) conducted by the Korea Institute for Health and Social Affairs (KIHASA). The theoretical frameworks used in this study included Bandura's social learning theory, Akers' social learning theory, and Sutherland's differential association theory. The findings were as follows. First, there was no statistically significant effect on peer group's delinquency experience overall, aggression, and delinquency experience by gender. Second, male students' delinquency experience of their peer group had a statistically significant effect on their delinquency, however, this was not true for female students. Third, in the case of male students, aggression was found to mediate the relationship between peer group delinquency experience and their own delinquency, but not for female students. From these findings, we suggest a practical and policy-driven intervention plan, focusing on reducing the contact frequency of delinquency experience and aggression, The purpose of this study was to examine gender differences in the impact of exposure to peer delinquency among elementary school-age students and the mediating effects of aggression. In this paper, we propose a novel method to analyze and quantitatively evaluate the impression of landscapes and soundscapes about traditional area of Chungnam Asan city in Korea. For this, we collated data about impression evaluation of Korean and Japanese students and, based on these result, we proved the validity and usefulness of the evaluation system that we proposed through this study. The research process conducted in this study as follows: first of all, we had selected five traditional places of interest in Asan City, and investigated various conditional elements of the area including soundscapes which is forming the landscape using video camera. And we made both Korean and Japanese students evaluate the impression for these videotaped landscape data through using the SD(semantic differential) method. And then, we quantified these qualitative data through applying the quantification theory and cluster analysis method to them. Though this process, we could obtain both data as a result derived by classifying each sample and categorizing levels of those impression evaluation. Because of totally difference between those two analyzing processes, which one is for sample classification and the other is for determining impression level, we could validate the usefulness of our evaluation system through conducting comparative analysis of results from both methods. Analysis showed that our novel evaluation system for landscape is effective and, in most part of the traditional landscape, Japanese students' responses are different far from the Korean students' responses.
The purpose of this study is to identify the differential effects of transformational leadership and organizational justice on psychological contract breach and work engagement, and to suggest practical implications. To this purpose, this study theoretically references equity theory which recognizes the relationship between organizational input and output, social exchange theory which explains the exchange relationship between members and organization, and job demand-resource (JD-R) model that combines job demands and job resources. A empirical study was conducted on 277 employees at 18 companies of diverse industries including manufacturing, distribution, and finance, and to eliminate the common method bias problem, the dependent variable was measured using peer evaluation. The results of this study showed that: 1) both transformational leadership and organizational justice had a significant positive effect on work engagement and significant negative effect on psychological contract breach; and 2) psychological contract breach played a partial mediating role in the relationship between transformational leadership and work engagement as well as between organizational justice and work engagement. Therefore, this study suggests that, as organizational justice has stronger influence on work engagement and psychological contract breach than transformational leadership, organizations should not only train its leaders but also guarantee fairness.
The purpose of this study is to understand the current status and trends of the research studies published by the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics which is a leader in the field of industrial mathematics around the world. To perform this purpose, titles and abstracts were collected from 6,255 research articles between 2016 and 2019, and the R program was used to analyze the topic modeling model with LDA techniques and a regression model. As the results of analyses, first, a variety of studies have been studied in the fields of industrial mathematics, such as algebra, discrete mathematics, geometry, topological mathematics, probability and statistics. Second, it was found that the ascending research subjects were fluid mechanics, graph theory, and stochastic differential equations, and the descending research subjects were computational theory and classical geometry. The results of the study, based on the understanding of the overall flows and changes of the intellectual structure in the fields of industrial mathematics, are expected to provide researchers in the field with implications of the future direction of research and how to build an industrial mathematics curriculum that reflects the zeitgeist in the field of education.
Despite anti-corruption has been one of the major governmental tasks in Korea, anti-corruption policies have been focused largely on government officials in public sectors, and most of the prior studies have examined government employees not public citizens. In order to fill the vacuum in the literature, this study aims to develop evidence-based anti-corruption policies via a survey of people in various job categories for the relationship between their experiences of any corruption and related factors. Researchers analyzed a secondary data gathered by the Korean Institute of Public Administration, which included a sample of 1,000 adults aged over 19. The results showed that indirect experiences of corruption and interaction with the corrupted were positively related to individuals' corruption behaviors. In addition, their perception towards low- and mid-ranking officials were statistically signifiant in explaining the corruption behavior. Thus, policy-makers should consider focusing on indirect experiences of corruption, interaction with the corrupted, and perception towards low- and mid-ranking officials. This study contributed as an attempt to suggest policy implications and further research ideas by examining factors related to individuals' corruption behaviors.
