  • The prediction of crosstalk in one of important problems in estimating the EMC of a system for high speed digital signal transmission. Crosstalk curves are shown in terms of characteristic impedance of lines spacing between lines and rise time of pulse by using general multiple coupled transmission line equation and harmonic-balance method. The coupled symmetrical two-line on dielectric material epoxy-glass FR 4(${\varepsilon}_r$), is fabricated to measure crosstalk occuring at the near end and far end of the passive line. The inter-line is inserted to reduce crosstalk between two microstrip lines. The simulation results and the measurement results are shown and found to be very close.

  • Analysis and design procedures for the symmetrical and non-symmetrical interdigitated four-port microstrip couplers conssiting of symmetrical three lines is presented. The configuration is simple and a lesser number of bond wires are requires as compared to the four-line couplers which are used. Physical dimensions of 3. 6 and 10dB couplers with substrates having typical dielectric constant values of 2.55 and 10 can be found by using the tables and charts.

  • A planar waveguide model is presented for calculating dispersion characteristics of the normalized phase velocity and characteristic impedance with the frequency dependent effective dielectric constand and effective width in microstrip lines of the hybrid mode. Eeff(f) and Weff(f) are applied to a planar waveguide model by using an empirical relations and formula designed for CAD purposes as a function of frequency. A wide range of relative dielectric constants and the strip $h_{width}$strate height(W/h ratios), $0.5$\leq$W/h\leq2.5$ are used. These results are compared with static value, spectral domain analysis, and empirical results. As the result of a computer simulation, in the case of using a planar waveguide model, the frequency dependent normalized phase velocity is more closely approached to 1/ and characteristic impedance is more increased than the other method that has already been presented as the increasing of the frequency. And, the case of applying Eeff(f) designed for the purpose of CAD to this proposed model is show in better result than the case of using a empirical relations.

  • This paper describes and presents the design of a miniaturized low pass filter (LPF) for microwave frequency region using a common defected ground structure (CDGS). In this study a half-sized LPF is obtained using CDGS, while the previous LPFs with the conventional DGS showed a mild size-reduction. The common DGS (CDGS) is realized on the common ground plane of two microstrip lines, i. e double-sided microstrip lines, which exist back-to-back to each other. In order to show the validity of the proposed design, an example of LPF using CDGS and double-sided microstrip lines is designed, fabricated and measured using the dielectric substrate with the dielectric constant of 2.2 and with the thickness of 31mils. The size of the designed LPF using CDGS is only 52.6% compared to that of the previous LPF with the conventional DGS. In addition, it is shown that the performances of the proposed LPF are well preserved after the size-reduction with the measured S11 and S21 of -22dB, min and -0.19dB, max, respectively.

  • We study of the variation on non-uniform plasma in different layer of the semiconductor. The transient response in different plasma layer has been evaluated theoretically. The reflection function of dielectric microstrip lines resulting from the presence of plasma are evaluated by the transmission line model. The diffusion length is small compared to the absorption depth. The variation of characteristic response in plasma layer with microwave pulses which has in localized has been evaluated.

  • A new low phase noise Dielectric Resonator Parallel Feedback Oscillator(DRPFO) that is proposed in this paper has a simple structure so that it can be fabricated in low cost and with high performance. The proposed DRPFO is in a feedback loop oscillator configuration, which is composed of a low noise amplifier, a power amplifier, a power attenuator, a power divider and a parallel resonator feedback element that consists of a dielectric resonator coupled with two microstrip lines. The measured phase noise of DRPFO was less than -81 dBc/Hz at offset frequency 1 kHz of 10.75 GHz carrier frequency, and the frequency stability of DRPFO was less than $\pm$200 kHz over the temperature range of -40$^{\circ}$C to +60$^{\circ}$C.

  • We present a study on the reflection of optically controlled microwave pulses from non uniform plasma layers in semiconductors. The transient response of the microwave pulses in different plasma layers has been evaluated by means of the reflection function of dielectric microstrip lines. The lines were used with an open-ended termination containing an optically induced plasma region, which was illuminated by a light source. The reflection characteristics impedance resulting from the presence of plasma is evaluated by means of the equivalent transmission line model. We have analyzed the variation of the transient response in a 0.01 cm layer with a surface frequency in the region of 128 GHz. In the reflection the variation of the diffusion length $L_D$ is large compared with the absorption depth $1/{\alpha}_l$. The variation of the characteristic response of the plasma layer with differentially localized pulses has been evaluated analytically. The change of the reflection amplitude has been observed at depths of 0.1 cm, 0.01 cm and $0.1{\times}10^{-5}$ cm respectively.

  • In this paper, transmission lines with low and high characteristic impedance (Z$_{0}$) are fabricated and analyzed. The transmission lines are fabricated on the benzo-cyclo-butene (BCB) films of a low dielectric constant. For the low Z$_{0}$, two types of coplanar waveguide (CPW) structures are fabricated, which include bottom-ground and double-ground type. Measurement shows that Z$_{0}$ values for each CPW type are 7.3 and 9.4$\Omega$, respectively, at a signal line width of 100 #m. Whit the ratio between the spacing of bottom-ground and the signal line with becomes greater than 2.5, the Z$_{0}$ is nearly saturated. In addition, thin film microstrip lines fabricated using the BCB insertion layers show very low Z$_{0}$ of 25.5$\Omega$, and this impedance is ~64 % of the values obtained from the BCB-based CPW structures of the same line width. Measurement result of CPW on BCB layer is 100.5 Ω.s 100.5 Ω.

  • In this paper, a new method is suggested to reduce the size of a wide-band array antenna. The power-divider for the feeding structure is made compact as ${\lambda}/8$ with the help of a novel Metamaterial UWB bandpass filter. This power divider is clearly different from others in that the proposed design uses microstrip structured Composite Right and Left-Handed (CRLH) filters, while others use two dielectric layers or long tapered transmission lines. In order to validate the proposed design method, the circuit and full-wave simulated results of the power divider with the Metamaterial UWB filters are compared to each other, and the Metamaterial properties of the structure are shown with the electric field at the ZOR and dispersion diagram. Furthermore, the antenna performance of the fabricated antenna with the power divider is measured and compared with the prediction. Also, the size reduction effect by the proposed scheme is addressed.
