  • In this article, plasma monitoring tools and mulivariate analysis techniques were reviewed. Optical emission spectroscopy was reviewed for a chemical composition analysis tool and RF V-I probe for a physical analysis tool for plasma monitoring. Multivariate analysis techniques are discussed to the sensitivity improvement. Principal component analysis (PCA) is one of the widely adopted multivariate analysis techniques and its application to end-point detection of plasma etching process is discussed.

  • Nowadays the deadly virus famous as COVID-19 spread all over the world starts from the Wuhan China in 2019. This disease COVID-19 Virus effect millions of people in very short time. There are so many symptoms of COVID19 perhaps the Identification of a person infected with COVID-19 virus is really a difficult task. Moreover it's a challenging task to identify whether a person or individual have covid test positive or negative. We are developing a framework in which we used machine learning techniques..The proposed method uses DecisionTree, KNearestNeighbors, GaussianNB, LogisticRegression, BernoulliNB , RandomForest , Machine Learning methods as the classifier for diagnosis of covid ,however, 5-fold and 10-fold cross-validations were applied through the classification process. The experimental results showed that the best accuracy obtained from Decision Tree classifiers. The data preprocessing techniques have been applied for improving the classification performance. Recall, accuracy, precision, and F-score metrics were used to evaluate the classification performance. In future we will improve model accuracy more than we achieved now that is 93 percent by applying different techniques

A Literature Survey of Machine Learning Based Obstructive Sleep Apnea Diagnosis Research

  • Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) among sleep disorders is one of relatively common diseases. Patients can be checked for the disease through sleep polysomnography. However, as far as he diagnosis of OSA using polysomnography (PSG) is concerned, many practical problems such as an increasing number of patients, expensive testing cost, discomfort during examination, and the limited number of people for testing have been pointed out. Accordingly, for the purpose of substituting PSG researchers have been actively conducting studies on OSA diagnosis based on machine learning using bio signals. In this regard, we review a rich body of existing OSA diagnosis studies applying machine learning techniques based on bio-signal data. As a result, this paper presents a novel taxonomy of the reviewed studies and provides their comprehensive comparative analysis results. Also, we reveal various limitations of the studies using the bio signals and suggest several improvements about utilization of the used machine learning methods. Finally, this paper presents future research topics related to the application of machine learning techniques using bio signals.

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the position of mandibular condyle on the submentovertex radiograph, thereafter to evaluate the usefulness of submentovertex radiograph in diagnosis of temporomandibular joint dysfunction, and to check the best method of tomographic techniques. Submentovertex radiographs which were taken in 75 temporomandibular joint dysfunction patients and 75 normal persons were used as the sample for this study. The obtained results were as follows: The submentovertex radiograph was a improper method in diagnosis of temporomandibular joint dysfunction and discrimination of affected side. The selective tomography was a better method than any other tomographic techniques in diagnosis of temporomandibular joint dysfunction.

  • Objectives : The aims of this study were to introduce the theory of traditional Chinese orthopedic theory(整脊理論) and to analyze the guideline of diagnosis and treatment of common spinal disorders by treating Chinese spinal manipulation technique(常見病中醫整脊指南). Methods : We have searched the web sites of traditional Chinese orthopedics association (整脊學會), a branch of the China academy of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), and related articles. Additionally, we analyzed the guideline of diagnosis and treatment of common spinal disorders by treating Chinese spinal manipulation technique which was introduced by that association at 7th academic conference in China in 2011. Results : The guideline was prepared by 2 year project leaded by professor Yi-zhong Wei who was a person in charge of the spinal manipulation guideline of national standardization committee of TCM in China. It was a summary of the whole theory of China spinal manipulation therapy in TCM and contained 22 common spinal disorders by the treatment of traditional Chinese Tuina methods. Spinal manipulation theory was summarized by one doctrine, two theories, and two important view points. The treatment method was abstracted as 8 major Tuina techniques. Conclusions : The guideline will be a way of advance of Chinese spinal manipulation technique. This will be a good reference to Korea Chuna manipulation for improving their techniques.

Recent Update of Advanced Imaging for Diagnosis of Cardiac Sarcoidosis: Based on the Findings of Cardiac Magnetic Resonance Imaging and Positron Emission Tomography

  • Sarcoidosis is a multisystem disease characterized by noncaseating granulomas. Cardiac involvement is known to have poor prognosis because it can manifest as a serious condition such as the conduction abnormality, heart failure, ventricular arrhythmia, or sudden cardiac death. Although early diagnosis and early treatment is critical to improve patient prognosis, the diagnosis of CS is challenging in most cases. Diagnosis usually relies on endomyocardial biopsy (EMB), but its diagnostic yield is low due to the incidence of patchy myocardial involvement. Guidelines for the diagnosis of CS recommend a combination of clinical, electrocardiographic, and imaging findings from various modalities, if EMB cannot confirm the diagnosis. Especially, the role of advanced imaging such as cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) imaging and positron emission tomography (PET), has shown to be important not only for the diagnosis, but also for monitoring treatment response and prognostication. CMR can evaluate cardiac function and fibrotic scar with good specificity. Late gadolinium enhancement (LGE) in CMR shows a distinctive enhancement pattern for each disease, which may be useful for differential diagnosis of CS from other similar diseases. Effectively, T1 or T2 mapping techniques can be also used for early recognition of CS. In the meantime, PET can detect and quantify metabolic activity and can be used to monitor treatment response. Recently, the use of a hybrid CMR-PET has introduced to allow identify patients with active CS with excellent co-localization and better diagnostic accuracy than CMR or PET alone. However, CS may show various findings with a wide spectrum, therefore, radiologists should consider the possible differential diagnosis of CS including myocarditis, dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM), hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, amyloidosis, and arrhythmogenic right ventricular cardiomyopathy. Radiologists should recognize the differences in various diseases that show the characteristics of mimicking CS, and try to get an accurate diagnosis of CS.

  • The purpose of this study was to determine the diagnosis and treatment patterns for frozen shoulder patients. It was used Delphi survey techniques and the subjects were 35 expect physical therapists who agreed participated in the study. The data were analyzed by the x2-test at 0.05 level of statistical significance. The results were as follows : 1. In accordance with open ended question, 11 diagnosis and 14 treatment are collected in the first investigation. 2. In accordance with close ended question, they were selected 5 diagnosis and 5 treatments criteria from the results of the first replied questionnaire. 3. Finally, the third close ended questionnaire, they were selected 3 main driteria of the diagnosis and treatments from the results of the second investigation. The physical therapists prefer to 1) History 2) ROM test 3) Palpation & Inspection in the diagnostic field, and 1) EST and Convex-Concave rule 2) Codman's exercise and MFR 3) Deep friction massage in the treatment field.

Evaluation of Larynx Cancer via Chemometrics Assisted Raman Spectroscopy

  • Larynx cancer is a potentially terminal and severe type of neck and head cancer in which malignant cells start to grow and spread upwards in the larynx, or voice box. Smoking tobacco, drinking hot beverages and drinking alcohol are the main risk factors for these tumors. In this study, we aimed to develop a precise, accurate and rapid chemometrics assisted Raman spectroscopy method for diagnosis of larynx cancer in deparaffinized tissue samples. In the proposed method, samples were deparaffinized and 20 microns of each tissue were located on a coverslip. Both healthy (n = 13) and cancerous tissues (n = 13) were exposed to a Raman laser (785 nm) and excitations were recorded between wavenumbers of $50{\sim}1500cm^{-1}$. An Orthogonal Partial Least Square algorithm was applied to evaluate the Raman spectrum obtained. Sensitivity and specificity of the proposed method is high enough with the aid of Principal Component Analysis (PCA) to test the whole model. Healthy and cancerous tissues were accurately and precisely clustered. A rapid, easy and precise diagnosis algorithm was developed for larynx cancer. By this method, some useful data about differences in biomolecules of each group (phospholipids, amides, tyrosine, phenylalanine collagen etc.) was also obtained from the spectra. It is claimed that the optimized method has a great potential for clustering and separating tumor tissues from healthy ones. This novel, rapid, precise and objective diagnosis method may be an alternative for the conventional methods in literature for diagnosis of larynx cancer.

State-of-the-art update for diagnosing diabetic foot osteomyelitis: a narrative review

  • Recently, the International Working Group on the Diabetic Foot and the Infectious Diseases Society of America divided diabetic foot disease into diabetic foot infection (DFI) and diabetic foot osteomyelitis (DFO). DFI is usually diagnosed clinically, while numerous methods exist to diagnose DFO. In this narrative review, the authors aim to summarize the updated data on the diagnosis of DFO. An extensive literature search using "diabetic foot [MeSH]" and "osteomyelitis [MeSH]" or "diagnosis" was performed using PubMed and Google Scholar in July 2023. The possibility of DFO is based on inflammatory clinical signs, including the probe-to-bone (PTB) test. Elevated inflammatory biochemical markers, especially erythrocyte sedimentation rate, are beneficial. Distinguishing abnormal findings of plain radiographs is also a first-line approach. Moreover, sophisticated modalities, including magnetic resonance imaging and nuclear medicine imaging, are helpful if doubt remains after a first-line diagnosis. Transcutaneous bone biopsy, which does not pass through the wound, is necessary to avoid contaminating the sample. This review focuses on the current diagnostic techniques for DFOs with an emphasis on the updates. To obtain the correct therapeutic results, selecting a proper option is necessary. Based on these numerous diagnosis modalities and indications, the proper choice of diagnostic tool can have favorable treatment outcomes.

Emerging Role of Hepatobiliary Magnetic Resonance Contrast Media and Contrast-Enhanced Ultrasound for Noninvasive Diagnosis of Hepatocellular Carcinoma: Emphasis on Recent Updates in Major Guidelines

  • Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) can be noninvasively diagnosed on the basis of its characteristic imaging findings of arterial phase enhancement and portal/delayed "washout" on computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in cirrhotic patients. However, different specific diagnostic criteria have been proposed by several countries and major academic societies. In 2018, major guideline updates were proposed by the Association for the Study of Liver Diseases, European Association for the Study of the Liver (EASL), Korean Liver Cancer Association and National Cancer Center (KLCA-NCC) of Korea. In addition to dynamic CT and MRI using extracellular contrast media, these new guidelines now include magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) using hepatobiliary contrast media as the first-line diagnostic test, while the KLCA-NCC and EASL guidelines also include contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) as the second-line diagnostic test. Therefore, hepatobiliary MR contrast media and CEUS will be increasingly used for the noninvasive diagnosis and staging of HCC. In this review, we discuss the emerging role of hepatobiliary phase MRI and CEUS for the diagnosis of HCC and also review the changes in the HCC diagnostic criteria in major guidelines, including the KLCA-NCC practice guidelines version 2018. In addition, we aimed to pay particular attention to some remaining issues in the noninvasive diagnosis of HCC.
