Vibration Characteristic Analysis of 500MW Steam Turbine Blade-Disks (500MW급 증기터빈 블레이드-디스크계의 진동특성 분석)

  • The main purpose of this study is to identify the vibrational characteristics for the LP blades of Korean standard fossil power plants. Modal tests for the 6 stage blade with boundary condition in which the root of blades are constrained with the disk were conducted, and FE analysis was also did with the same boundary condition. The steady-stress and modal analyses for the coupled bladed-disk system of LP turbine stages were completed. The dynamic analysis and fatigue analysis were followed to diagnose the integrity of LP turbine blades.

  • This study was written in order to help understanding of visible diagnosis of spirit(神). Visible diagnosis of spirit(神) is a very important factor of diagnosis and a first step of visible diagnosis. Spirit(神) is closely connection with appearance(形), so is revealed by appearance(형). If we make a visible diagnosis of spirit(神), we know the prosperousness of energy and the relative seriousness of an illness. Spirit(神) is understood by appearances and movements of patient, and influenced by seasons, lands, human's relationship and the grade of age. Visible diagnosis of spirit(神) is practiced by the observation of movements, appearances, languages, voices, mental condition, color, eye, etc. By visible diagnosis of spirit(神), we can conclude existence or nonexistence of spirit(神), discriminate true spirit(神) from false spirit(神), and diagnose mental diseases. As comparing spirit(神) with appearance(形), we can decide good or bad prognoses.

Fault Detection and Localization using Wavelet Transform and Cross-correlation of Audio Signal (소음 신호의 웨이블렛 변환 및 상호상관 함수를 이용한 고장 검출 및 위치 판별)

  • This paper presents a method of fault detection and fault localization from acoustic noise measurements. In order to detect the presence of noise sources wavelet transform is applied to acoustic signal. In addition, a cross correlation based method is proposed to calculate the exact location of the noise allowing the user to quickly diagnose and resolve the source of the noise. The fault detection system is implemented using two microphones and a computer system. Experimental results show that the system can detect faults due to artifacts accidentally inserted during the manufacturing process and estimate the location of the fault with approximately 1 cm precision.

  • A six-year old bitch pregnant with prolonged gestation over about one month was ovariohysterectomied. The bitch was proved to be normal by physical and biochemical examination and had not a purulent vaginal discharge. A large firm mass was palpated in left caudoventral abdomen. Radiography identified the mass as a fetus. The abdominal ultrasono-graphy identified the fetus was dead. Caesarian section through the median raphe over linea alba was attempted. Adhensions were found between the uterus, stomach, spleen, urinary bladder, and abdominal viscera. Two fragments of bone were found in the abdominal cavity because of rupture of left uterine horn. Radiography and ultrasonography were proved to be of use to diagnose prolonged fetal mummification. Ovario-hysterectomy was considered to be choice of treatment to remove the prolonged mummified fetus.

Studies on The Diseases of the Korean Native Goat-A Review (우리나라 재래염소의 질병에 관한 연구-문헌조사)

  • The Korean native goat has been extensively used in the experimental work. Compared to those experimental work employing the goat, reports on their diseases have been scarcely documented. In the present communication, authors reviewed the literatures pertaining to the diseases of the Korean native goat. Diseases of the respiratory system, the alimentary tract, the liver, the musculoskeletal system, the skin, the urogenital system, the nervous system, the eye, and the heart were reviewed. And then metabolic, toxic, and parasitic diseases were reviewed. Of those diseases reviewed, diseases of the heart and kidney, and metabolic and toxic diseases were wholly artificially-induced. Except the parasitic diseases, a considerable number of diseases of other organ systems were also artificially-induced. And the parasitic diseases reported were confined to the internal parasites. Authors feel that the known occurrence of diseases would help diagnose new disease in the goat.

Analysis of SRY-negative XX True Hermaphroditism in an English Cocker Spaniel

  • SRY gene is normally responsible for testis induction, yet testis development can occur in the absence of SRY. In here, we analyzed the SRY-negative sex reversal in cocker spaniel, at 1.5 year-old. The attacked dog was suffered from enlarged clitoris, and resulted in disorder of urination. By surgically approach, enlarged clitoris and one testis, which are apparently seen, are removed. Additionally, thorough the abdomen surgery, uterus and ovary-like mass were removed. The dog had XX, chromosome, showed negative for SRY-gene, and the mass had the ovary-testis structure. In other words, based on the macroscopic, cytogenic, and histological study, we can diagnose the cocker spaniel as SRY-negative sex reversal.

  • Recently, biological weapons (BWs) prepared with pathogenic microorganisms, toxins and biological vectors have been used maliciously for biological warfare, bioterrorism and/or agroterrorism by hostile countries and terrorists. In this review, historical background of disease and malicious use of BWs pathogenicity of microorganisms, advanced methodology involved in laboratory diagnosis, and prevention and control of anthrax (Bacillus anthracis), plague (Yersinia pseudotuberculosis subs. pestis), glanders (Burkholderia mallei), and smallpox (Variola virus) which have been abused for biological warfare or bioterrorism were discussed. In addition, the pathogenicity of microorganisms and the methodology needed to diagnose and control 6 diseases identified by WHO/CDC, ie., smallpox, inhalation anthrax, pneumonic plague, botulism, tularemia, and hemorrhagic fevers that would wreak havoc if terrorists successfully disseminated the germs by air were described.

  • As many industrial systems become more complex, it becomes extremely difficult to diagnose the cause of failures. This paper presents a failure diagnosis approach based on discrete event system theory. In particular, the approach is a hybrid of event-based and state-based ones leading to a simpler failure diagnoser with supervisory control capability. The design procedure is presented along with a pump-valve system as an example.

  • As dual port memories are being frequently used, test and diagnosis for dual port memories becomes more important. In this paper, anew diagnosis algerian which can classify faults in detail when the fault is detected during test process is developed. The new algerian increases its efficiency by using the information that can be obtained by test results as well as results using additional diagnostic pattern set. In addition the algorithm can diagnose various fault models for dual port memories.

  • One of the general methods to diagnose abnormalities of heart is stethoscopy. This method needs special skill and experiment of doctors and it lacks for objectivity. Electrocardiography(ECG) is another biomedical method which is commonly used to diagnoss abnormalities of heart. The development of PCG is required in recent years to improve objectivity of stethoscopy method. In this paper, PCG is implemented on personal computer and ECG is also included to help the analysis of PCG waveform. Time analysis is used so far, but in this paper the frequency analysis is also considered to improve the accuracy of disgonosis. As future research, recognition of PCG and ECG signal and the Expert System is required to improve the accuracy of diagnosis.
