This paper demonstrated how application of evolutionary knowledge to developmental perspectives enhances understanding of human ontogeny. Evolutionary Developmental Psychology (EDP) explains human behavior through evolutionary principles and focuses on ontogeny rather than phylogeny. In this paper, the authors review concepts of evolution, adaptations, and the processes of evolution from EDP perspectives. The definition and basic assumptions of EDP are introduced, followed by explanations of how evolution happens in ontogeny by looking at developmental systems approaches, concepts of ontogenetic and deferred adaptations, evolution of childhood, and brain plasticity. Possible pathways of evolution in ontogeny are also discussed. Finally, some research methodology for applying EDP to child development is suggested with specific hypotheses and studies.

Childhood depression was not officially accepted as a separate diagnosis until 20-25years ago. Although DSM-III R criteria gave us a starting point and are gaining acceptances as a useful tool for diagnosing childhood depression recently, many professionals feel that additional modifications are needed to better reflect the developmental aspects of children. And because children are relatively poor in expressing their moods or feelings due to weak reality sence and/or cognitive and linguistic limitations, the author too carefully suggest that developmental perspectives of children should be considered in diagnosing childhood depression. Little is known about the extent to which childhood depression precedes adult depression and persists into adult life and about the impact of it on the personality formation. Some evidences that childhood depressive symtoms can be quite enduring make it important to make an early diagnosis and treatment.

Speech and language functions are highly cognitive and human-specific features. The underlying causes of normal speech and language function are believed to reside in the human brain. Developmental persistent stuttering, a speech and language disorder, has been regarded as the most challenging disorder in determining genetic causes because of the high percentage of spontaneous recovery in stutters. This mysterious characteristic hinders speech pathologists from discriminating recovered stutters from completely normal individuals. Over the last several decades, several genetic approaches have been used to identify the genetic causes of stuttering, and remarkable progress has been made in genome-wide linkage analysis followed by gene sequencing. So far, four genes, namely GNPTAB, GNPTG, NAGPA, and AP4E1, are known to cause stuttering. Furthermore, thegeneration of mouse models of stuttering and morphometry analysis has created new ways for researchers to identify brain regions that participate in human speech function and to understand the neuropathology of stuttering. In this review, we aimed to investigate previous progress, challenges, and future perspectives in understanding the genetics and neuropathology underlying persistent developmental stuttering.

Invasion mechanisms of pathogens and counteracting defense mechanisms of plants are highly diverse and perpetually evolving. While most classical studies of plant defense have focused only on defense-specific factor-mediated responses, recent work is beginning to shed light on the involvement of non-stress signal components, especially growth and developmental processes. This shift in focus links plant resistance more closely with growth and development. In this review, we summarize our current understanding of how pathogens manipulate host developmental processes and, conversely, of how plants deploy their developmental processes for self-protection. We conclude by introducing our recent work on UNI, a novel R protein in Arabidopsis which mediates cross-talk between developmental processes and defense responses.

Based on the premise that perspectives or the frame of cognition may affect the ways that family practitioners support or intervene in families, this study aimed to investigate the perspectives of Certified Healthy Family Specialists (CHFS) on family practice in the Healthy Family Support Centers. A total of 9 CHFSs gave information about their beliefs and perspectives on family practice in in-depth interview. Additionally, 5 CHFS participated in focus group interview and gave information about their values, beliefs, and perspectives on family practice. Through qualitative analyses, four perspectives were found to be explicitly or implicitly carried by CHFSs: System theory perspective, Strengths perspective, Family cognition perspective, and Public intervention perspective. These four perspectives are currently leading themes of family research and are prospected to prevail in family support and intervention practices in the Healthy Family Support Centers in South Korea. Based on the results of qualitative analyses, directions and range of influence in perspectives on family practice perceived by CFHSs were discussed. In this study, the subject of Healthy Family Project, the CHFSs' aims, and emphasis on family practice were dealt with, and developmental direction establishment related to the Healthy Family Support Centers and CFHSs in the dimension of practice and policy in the future were implied.

This study argues the nature of the microgenetic method in respect to child development research and explores its merits and limitations. The microgenetic method focuses on observations that span the entire period from the beginning of developmental change to the time it reaches a relatively stable state. This produces a high density of observations relative to the rate of change in the phenomenon. In this way, observed behavior may be used in intensive trial-by-trial analysis. The microgenetic method is superior to other methods in the possibilities for observing developmental changes as they occur, examining various aspects of change, detecting variability in behavior, and flexibility in application regardless of theoretical perspectives. Limitations of this method include reliability problems due to repeated observations, artificiality relative to the natural situation, inconsistency of short-and long-term change, and demands on children's motivation for participation in research.

The main theme of this paper is to evaluate the relevance of Educational Facilities in terms of university change in near future. The paper reviewed the changing process of higher education and its role in Korean society briefly, proposed the developmental directions of higher education in future in several perspectives, and introduced educational reform plan in the field of higher education proposed on May 30, 1995 by advisory group to the president. In this context, the irrelevance of university and college education facilities was pointed out, and proposed some new and modernizing guide lines of educational facilities such as flexibility, openness, corelationships and consortium among related institutes, optimization of related laws and rules, exemption from the direct ruling and control of government. This paper also suggested some ideas of facilitating educational facilities in accordance with the future change trends of university and college education.

This study aims to evaluate the Higher Diploma in English for the Primary Stage from the diploma students' perspectives. A questionnaire was designed consisting of 25 items distributed in two areas: cognitive/academic preparation and professional/skill preparation. The following statistical analyses were used: means, standard deviations, t-test, and one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA). The study results showed that the level of evaluation of the two domains in the program was low. The study also showed no statistically significant differences between the means of educational diploma students when evaluating the Higher Diploma in English for the Primary Stage due to their academic specialization (Arabic language, social sciences, and Islamic studies). In conclusion, the researcher suggested a developmental mechanism derived from the study results to improve the higher Diploma in English for the Primary Stage.

본 연구는 2022년 여름 인기리에 반영된 '이상한 변호사 우영우'라는 드라마가 '자폐'와 '발달장애' 관련 언론사의 보도형태에 어떤 영향을 미쳤는지 분석하였다. 본 연구에서는 2018년 1월 1일부터 2022년 12월 14일까지(약 5년간) 총 54개 언론사에서 보도한 '자폐'와 '발달장애'라는 용어가 포함된 관련 뉴스 기사들을 분석하였다. 그 분석대상 뉴스 빅데이터를 대상으로 키워드 트렌드 분석, 연관어 분석(워드클라우드 제시) 등을 진행하였다. 본 연구결과는 일반 시민 대상 장애인식 개선 프로그램의 개발 등에 활용될 수 있을 것으로 기대된다. 또한 본 연구를 확대하여, 장애인 관련 언론사의 보도태도(긍정-중립-부정 등)를 체계적으로 분석하고자 한다.
