  • During the recent decades, he problem of climate variability and change has been in the forefront of scientific problems. The objective of this study was to assess the impact of climate variability on crop growth and yield. The growth duration was the main impact of climate variability on crop yield. Phyllochronterval was shortened in the global worming situations. A simple model to describe developmental traits was provided from heading data of directly seeded rice cultivars and temperature data. Daily mean development rate could be explained by the average temperature during the growth stage. Simple regression equation between daily mean development rate(x) and the average temperature(y) during the growth period as y = ax + b. It can be simply modified as x = 1/a $\ast$ (y-b). The parameters of the model could depict the thermo sensitivity of the cultivars. On the base of this model, the three doubled CO2 GCM scenarios were assessed. The average of these would suggest a decline in rice production of about 11% if we maintained the current cultivars. Future cultivar's developmental traits could be suggested by the two model parameters.

  • The purpose of this research is to investigate usage related predictors to activate Adult Guardianship System of People with Developmental Disabilities. To achieve the purpose of this research, we have analyzed the survey of parents of People with Developmental Disabilities usage needs for Adult Guardianship System which is based on the Andersen's behavioral model. The study utilized data from 2011 Welfare Needs Assessment of Seoul middle and senior-aged Family with Developmental Disabilities, and the analysis method, the study applied used SPSS 22.0, frequency analysis, descriptive statistics analysis, logistic regression analysis. According to the result, the usage needs for Adult Guardianship System increases meaningfully if the parents does not have occupation, and the subject of Adult Guardianship System is male. In income and the social security system wise, the usage needs for Adult Guardianship System show remarkably large rating if the average income is high and the desire to be cared by others is high. But in case of People with Developmental Disabilities, communication skills, the degree of disability, burden of caring does not have effect on the usage needs for Adult Guardianship System. The conclusion for this research is, first, to activate vigorous usage of Adult Guardianship System, the government intervention is required. Second, the following study is needed to explain to the concept of the needs caring by others and the cultural factors relating to the usage needs for Adult Guardianship System.

  • Aquatic contamination by organic pollutants has been a suspected reason for rapid decrease of amphibian populations whose embryonic and larval stages are in an aquatic environment. Amphibian embryos can be a useful model to study the ecoctoxicologial impacts of aquatic pollutants. The obtained toxicological data are useful references for the management of aquatic pollutants in public health because amphibia share many developmental events with terrestrial vertebrates including humans. Safety guidelines for the toxicological effects of aquatic contaminants of chemicals identified as hazardous should be addressed at multiple endpoints. Alkylphenols have been widely-used in agricultural, industrial, and household activities; they contaminate and can persist in aquatic environments. Exposure to alkylphenols results in endocrine disruption in aquatic animals. In this review, we summarize the developmental toxicities of alkylphenols in amphibian embryos and larva according to the exposure route, chemical concentration, duration of exposure, and affected developmental stage together with mechanisms of toxicity and typical patterns of developmental abnormality. The merits of amphibian embryos as a toxicity test model for mid- to long-term exposure to aquatic pollutants are discussed proposed.

  • This study examined the characteristics of the relationship of HOME, sociodemographic variables and children's verbal ability at age four, five, six, Expecially this study investigated causal relationships amoong the variables which are supposed to affect children's verbal ability by children's age and sex. The subject of this study were 180 children and their mothers. Instruments included inventory of home stimulation(HOME), inventory of socio-demographic variables, inventory of the children's verbla ability. The results obtained from this study were as follows : 1. For the most part, HOME and socio-demographic variables had a significant positive correlation with children's verbal ability. 2. The variables that significantly predicted children's verbal ability differed according to children's age and sex. That is, play materials, breadth of experience and economic status of the home were predictive of boy's verbal ability at age four, while aspects of physical environment, breadth of experience were predictive at age five, fostering maturity and independence, parent's education were predictive at age six. And developmental stimulation and breadth of experience were predictive of girl's verbal ability at age four, while developmental stimulation, economic status of the home were predictive at age five, developmental stimulation and play materials were predictive at age six. 3. the results of the analysis of the causal model showed that the kind of variables that affected children's verbal ability directly differed according to children's age and sex. That is, indirect stimulation and direct stimulation affected boy's verbal ability directly at age four and five, while indirect stimulation and parent's education affected boy's verbal ability at age six. And indirect stimulation, direct stimulation, emotional climate of the home affected girl's verbal ability directly at age four, while direct stimulation, economic status of the home, indirect stimulation affected directly at age five, parent's education, indirect stimulation and direct stimulation affected girl's verbal ability at age six. 4. Another causal model of the HOME, socio-demographic variables affecting children's verbal ability showed that total HOME scores more significantly affected boys and girl's verbal ability directly than socio-demographic variables at all ages.

  • As startup companies are recognized as the important source of job creation and economic growth, the study is trying to find out the current situation of startup companies and their success factors in South Korea. The study analyzes the success factor of Woowa Brothers recognized as a unicorn start-up company in 2018 by using ERIS model and Start-up Developmental Stages. The ERIS model emphasizes Entrepreneurs, Resources, Industry Environment and Strategy for company performance and three developmental stages are divided into initiation, commercial and growth stages. The results indicate that the Woowa Brothers' success factor was to catch the appropriate timing in ERIS and to combine unique methods by differentiating itself from existing competitors at each stage. With analyses of success factor of Woowa Brothers as a case model, the study reveals limitations and recommends the direction of future research for producing more unicorn companies in South Korea.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the developmental pathways that mediate the effects of child abuse on delinquency. Data from the first wave of 'Seoul Panel Study of Children(SPSC)' were analyzed. The subjects consisted of 1,811 4th grade students from elementary schools. Structural equation model was employed for statistical analyses. The results showed that the relationship between child abuse and delinquency was indirectly mediated by self-esteem, peer rejection, and school attachment. The hypothesized structural model had a good model fit. Abused children were more likely to have low self-esteem, which was associated with higher levels of delinquency. In addition, abused children were more likely to be rejected by peers and to have low school attachment, which was also associated with higher levels of delinquency. Implications for social work practice from this study were discussed.

  • Objectives: Among the many intervention programs for children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), the Early Start Denver Model (ESDM) is one of the few approaches that has succeeded in demonstrating clinical efficacy in randomized control trials. Here, we investigate the clinical efficacy of ESDM intervention in young children with ASD in a community setting within Japan. Methods: All subjects were children with ASD who received ESDM intervention during the study period. Each ESDM session lasted 75 min and occurred once per week for at least 12 weeks. The outcome measures consisted of the Kyoto Scale of Psychological Development (K-test), Aberrant Behavior Checklist-Japanese version (ABC-J), and the Clinical Global Impression-Severity scale (CGI-S). Results: Twenty-seven subjects (29.4±6.4 months old) received ESDM intervention that lasted for 8.0±2.6 months on average. The score on Language and Social developmental quotient on the K-test increased significantly after the intervention. The total scores on the ABC-J and CGI-S significantly decreased after completion of the ESDM intervention. Conclusion: Our results suggest that ESDM intervention could reduce the severity of distinct clinical features of ASD, such as impairments in social interaction and communication assessed by the K-test, and maladaptive behavior rated by the ABC-J and CGI-S. We believe that the ESDM adapted to each institution might become one of the standard options for children with ASD in Japan.

  • This study was to focus on the effect on parenting stress of children's developmental characteristics, emotionality and mother's self-efficacy, thus to set the structure equation model. Analysis data was collected from 2078 newborns to be involved Korea Children's Panel 1st year. The valuables were all measured by mothers. The main results of this study were as follows. First, children's developmental characteristics and emotionality had an effect on parenting stress directly. A lower level of children's developmental characteristics and a higher level of children's emotionality indicated a higher maternal parenting stress level. Second, mother's self-efficacy also had an effect on parenting stress level. A lower level of maternal self-efficacy demonstrated a higher level of maternal parenting stress level. Third, children's developmental characteristics and emotionality had an effect on parenting stress indirectly through mother's self-efficacy. Mother's self-efficacy which was affected by children's developmental characteristics and emotionality aggravated mother's parenting stress. The implication of these findings are also discussed.

  • The developmental time of immature stages of Paromius exiguus (Distant) was investigated at nine constant temperatures (15, 17.5, 20, 22.5, 25, 27.5, 30, 32.5, $35{\pm}1^{\circ}C$), 20-30% RH, and a photoperiod of 14:10h (L:D). Eggs did not develop at $15^{\circ}C$, and their developmental time decreased with increasing temperatures. Its developmental time was longest at $17.5^{\circ}C$ (28.2 days) and shortest at $35^{\circ}C$ (5.9 days). The first nymphs failed to reach the next nymphal stage at 17.5 and $35^{\circ}C$. Nymphal developmental time decreased with increasing temperatures between $20^{\circ}C$ and $32.5^{\circ}C$, and developmental rate was decreased at temperatures above $30^{\circ}C$ in all stages except for the fourth nymphal stage. The relationship between developmental rate and temperature fit a linear model and three nonlinear models (Briere 1, Lactin 2, and Logan 6). The lower threshold temperature of egg and total nymphal stage was $l3.8^{\circ}C$ and $15.3^{\circ}C$, respectively. The thermal constant required to reach complete egg and the total nymphal stage was 109.9 and 312.5DD, respectively. The Logan-6 model was best fitted ($r^2$=0.94-0.99), among three nonlinear models. The distribution of completion of each development stage was well described by the 3-parameter Weibull function ($r^2$=0.91-0.99).
