  • We introduce the systematization design method using analogical analysis. The design method can make us predict the characteristic experiment for the magnitude we desire as the expression equation applied continuously. We can induce the design sample the users demand with the verification of the data on optimum design previously. Therefore in case of designing and developing the products systematization design method is very useful for the standardization of the developed goods compatability the reduction of construction time and price. In this paper we present the analogical algorithms of systematization design using similarity theory design factors and processing method of the restriction factors. Also we analyze the output voltage in terms of input voltage and displacement as choosing a differential transformer as the model.

A Study on The Applicatin of IChing to Medicine - From Trigram to Myeongmun Theory (역학(易學)의 의학적(醫學的) 적용(適用)에 대한 소고(小考) - 괘상(卦象)에서 명문학설(命門學說)까지 -)

  • Objectives : In this article, an analysis of some documents about medical thought of change in medical history explains how the concept of it has been established and expanded, and through that, we can find the fusion of tradition between medicine and the study of IChing. Methods : Through investigation and analyses of the texts about medical thought of change in important medical books, the contexts of the history will be drawn. Results : Although the study of IChing and medicine have been developed separately in the early period of medical history, it has been started to fuse explanations for symptoms and mechanisms of diseases using trigram images. Yin-yang and wuxing changes(陰陽五行) of human body have been explained with 12 changing trigram(消息卦) and eight trigram(八卦). In the Ming dynasty, the establishment of Myeongmun(命門) theory was influenced largely from IChing, but it was followed by a scathing criticism of some doctors in the Qing dynasty. Conclusions : Developing of the study about Iching and medicine, thought of change has been an important foundation of new theories in traditional medicine like as the issue of Myeongmun theory, as a result, it has contributed to the development of clinical medicine.

  • Effects of viscoelastic foundation on vibration of curved-beam structure with clamped and simply-supported boundary conditions is investigated in this study. In doing so, a micro-scale laminate composite beam with two piezoelectric face layer with a carbon nanotube reinforces composite core is considered. The whole beam structure is laid on a viscoelastic substrate which normally occurred in actual conditions. Due to small scale of the structure non-classical elasticity theory provided more accurate results. Therefore, nonlocal strain gradient theory is employed here to capture both nano-scale effects on carbon nanotubes and microscale effects because of overall scale of the structure. Equivalent homogenous properties of the composite core is obtained using Halpin-Tsai equation. The equations of motion is derived considering energy terms of the beam and variational principle in minimizing total energy. The boundary condition is assumed to be clamped at one end and simply supported at the other end. Due to nonlinear terms in the equations of motion, semi-analytical method of general differential quadrature method is engaged to solve the equations. In addition, due to complexity in developing and solving equations of motion of arches, an artificial neural network is design and implemented to capture effects of different parameters on the inplane vibration of sandwich arches. At the end, effects of several parameters including nonlocal and gradient parameters, geometrical aspect ratios and substrate constants of the structure on the natural frequency and amplitude is derived. It is observed that increasing nonlocal and gradient parameters have contradictory effects of the amplitude and frequency of vibration of the laminate beam.

Mathematical expression systems of Xiangshu Zhouyi Theory in traditional times (중국 전통시기 역학의 수학적 해석체계)

  • This thesis is a study on the relation of between Xiangshu Zhouyi Theory and mathematics, Zhouyi Theory as the one of the study of Chinese classics, was formed by Zhouyi' Eight Diagrams, the theory of Yinyangwuxing and the knowledge of natural science in Han dynasty. 'Xiangshu' had been regarded as the important concept and theory in the history of Zhouyi Theory From the beginning of Han dynasty to the end of Qing dynasty. At this developing of this Periodical Change, 'Xiangshu' had been endoded in the expression system of mathematics. This thesis considers binary system and surplus nembers, multiple and progression, magic square and circular constant, a proportional expression from Zhouyi Theory point of view. Xiangshu Zhouyi theory got the answer of these questions like the origin of Zhouyi, interpreting Guayao-word and Cosmology by using those expression systems of mathematics. Besides mathematics, Xiangshu Zhouyi theory was also related to astronomy, medicine, etc. Xiangshu Zhouyi theory had kept the pace with the general development of natural science. This thesis from the premise that Xiangshu Zhouyi theory kept the pace with natural science, summing up the mathematical expression system in the history of Zhouyi theory, proves that Xiangshu Zhouyi theory had developed according as the conditions of natural science.

  • Effective indexing systems are required to enhance the performance of full-text retrieval systems. The result of the analysis of index terms selected by human indexers without a newspaper thesaurus indicates that controlled indexing language is necessary for effective and consistent indexing of newspaper articles. In this paper, basic principles are established for keyword selection from Korean newspapers and significant problems identified in the process of developing a newspaper thesaurus are discussed in depth.

  • In the new product development process, concept testing which screens ideas with the highest probability of market success is very effective in predicting the success of a new product. However, designers do not have accurate guidelines in new product development because the structure of cause and effect of consumers' preference - the most important part of concept testing - has not been provided as quantitative data. Therefore, the aim of this study is to present guidelines for new product concept development through applying means-end chain theory and product form theory which explains what kinds of benefits cause consumers to purchase a product and what kinds of design attributes meet the benefits.   • Rhetorical relations between two text fragments are essential information and support natural language processing applications such as Question - Answering (QA) system and automatic text summarization to produce an effective outcome. Question - Answering (QA) system facilitates users to retrieve a meaningful response. There is a demand for rhetorical relation based datasets to develop such a system to interpret and respond to user requests. There are a limited number of datasets for developing an Arabic QA system. Thus, there is a lack of an effective QA system in the Arabic language. Recent research works reveal that unsupervised learning can support the QA system to reply to users queries. In this study, researchers intend to develop a rhetorical relation based dataset for implementing unsupervised learning applications. A web crawler is developed to crawl Arabic content from the web. A discourse-annotated corpus is generated using the rhetorical structural theory. A Naïve Bayes based QA system is developed to evaluate the performance of datasets. The outcome shows that the performance of the QA system is improved with proposed dataset and able to answer user queries with an appropriate response. In addition, the results on fine-grained and coarse-grained relations reveal that the dataset is highly reliable.

  • In enterprise software projects, performance issues have become more critical during recent decades. While developing software products, many performance tests are executed in the earlier development phase against the newly added code pieces to detect possible performance regressions. In our previous research, we introduced the framework to enable automated performance anomaly detection and reduce the analysis overhead for identifying the root causes, and showed Statistical Process Control (SPC) can be successfully applied to anomaly detection. In this paper, we explain the special performance trend in which the existing anomaly detection system can hardly detect the noticeable performance change especially when a performance regression is introduced and recovered again a while later. Within the fixed number of sampling period, the fluctuation gets aggravated and the lower and upper control limit get relaxed so that sometimes the existing system hardly detect the noticeable performance change. To resolve the issue, we apply dynamically tuned sampling window size based on the performance trend, and Fuzzy theory to find an appropriate size of the moving window.

Development of Theory of Mind in Preschoolers Who Grow up in Two Conflicting and Unbalanced Cultures

  • Individuals rely on Theory of Mind (ToM) to represent themselves, others, and socio-cultural norms. Distinctive Western and Eastern developmental patterns of ToM have been reported in monocultural children. Relatively little is known about bicultural children, especially those children who grow up in two conflicting and unbalanced cultures. We hypothesized that the development of ToM in these bicultural preschoolers would follow the pattern of the dominant culture. To examine this hypothesis, we recruited English-speaking Chinese Singaporean preschoolers. In Study 1, we tested 3- to 5-year-olds (N = 120) with 5 ToM tasks, including diverse desires, diverse beliefs, knowledge access, and false belief, as well as a vocabulary task. In Study 2, we tested 5-year-olds (N = 30) with a picture-choice version of these ToM tasks. Both studies supported our hypothesis by revealing that the development of ToM in these bicultural children followed the pattern of the dominant culture. Additionally, we found that 5-year-old bicultural children are still developing false belief, and their verbal ability correlated with their ToM.
