  • This paper indicates deficiencies of existing weighting methods for decision problems that require trading off a selection of one alternative against others. Deficiencies originate from the definition of weight, $W_i$, satisfying that $W_i{\geq}0$ for all i and sums up to one and an assumption of independence between attributes. Thus, existing weighting methods can not handle a situation where all attributes are interrelated, resulting in that attributes can give either positive, or negative, contributions to the value of an alternative. In order to cope with deficiencies, this paper redefines weight and proposes a new causally related weighting method. The proposed method was applied in the study of developing a comprehensive organizational performance measurement system and showed a good performance.

  • Human sensibility is assessed by measuring and analyzing various physiological signals in an objective way, or by analyzing adjectives chosen by the subjects in a subjective way. The present study aims at developing an integrated human sensibility assessment system that measures changes in a person's objective and subjective sensibility in real-time and analyzes them in an integrative way. The present system is composed of a real-time subjective sensibility assessment system, an automatic subjective sensibility assessment system and a real-time physiological signal measurement and analysis system for sensibility assessment, which are separated from one another. It can be utilized individually, or can be combined as a synthetic sensibility assessment system for comprehensive sensibility assessment.

  • As the developing of industry, the nonlinear equipments as inverter, converter, SMPS(Switching Mode Power Supply) and motor have been increased. But the sensitive electronic loads to the power quality, such as computer's and other electronic equipments, have been spreaded out very fast. Thus, the power quality (PQ) problems and the real time power quality monitoring (PQM) are one of the important issues industry and building area for the intelligent control of the systems. One of them, PQM using PLC(Power Line Communication) have good merits that can send and receive the PQ information without any new network line. This paper presents the PQM hardware and software to monitor the PQ information by using PLC that meets the categories of IEEE Std. 1159.

  • Construction Performance measurement and management has been interested by construction practitioners. However, current construction project management practices are related to short-term improvement plans rather than long-term and systematic approaches based upon performance analysis. AR a result, there is a need for developing of a collaborative plan over project life cycle. Therefore, this paper reviews extensive literature and proposes the construction performance estimating model using a system dynamics. The paper proposes casual maps for planning, design, procurement, and construction phases. Each casual map includes all performance indicators and factors that impact on performance directly or indirectly. These casual maps that were developed by system thinking will enhance the understanding of the relationships among performances and factors. After further data gathering, these models can be used to estimate construction performance and eventually these will save project costs and shorten project schedule.

  • Recent advances in positioning and photogrammetry technologies have made it possible to build a mobile mapping system (MMS) that can obtain 3D coordinates of geographic objects from stereo images recorded from a moving vehicle. In this paper, we present a design and detailed implementation of an MMS called a 4S-Van. Furthermore, we present four issues that have made major contributions to the performance of an MMS: 1) CCD camera calibration, 2) GPS signal condition, 3) integrating a GPS, inertial navigation system (INS), distance measurement indicator (DMI), and CCD cameras, and 4) the orientation angle of CCD cameras. In the experimental results, the performance of an MMS was analyzed for each component, giving an idea of how to effectively design and integrate each component in developing an MMS to get a maximal accuracy of 3D coordinates.

  • Recently there has been a great world-wide interest in developing and characterizing new nano-structured materials. These newly developed materials are often prepared in limited quantities and shapes unsuitable for the extensive mechanical testing. The development of depth sensing indentation methods have introduced the advantage of load and depth measurement during the indentation cycle. In the present work, ZnO thin films are prepared on Si(111), Si(100) substrates at different temperatures by pulsed laser deposition(PLD) method. Because the potential energy in c-axis is low, the films always show c-axis orientation at the optimized conditions in spite of the different substrates. Thin films are investigated by X-ray diffractometer and Nano indentation equipment. From these measurements it is possible to get elastic modulus and hardness of ZnO thin films on Si substrates.

  • In order to analyze the causes of fossil power plant facilities due to a degradation and corrosion, artificial degraded materials composed of the facilities were manufactured. Various experiment were performed based on mechanical test, microstructure observation, hardness test, electrochemical potentiokinetic reactivation test(EPR) and corrosion scale thickness measurement test. The master curves were write out using Larson-Miller parameter to evaluate the degree of degradation with the above diagnosis methods. These data were applied to materials database of fossil power plant diagnosis. Finally expert system on the fossil power plant diagnosis was developed using the master curves and diagnosis algorithms.

  • It is booming to use computer and information owing to the information society. Therefore, software demand is increasing rapidly. Enhancing utility value depends upon software quality. Software quality measurement and evaluation are necessary to satisfy the users who are using computers. In the present time, ISO/IEC 9126 define 6 quality characteristics and 21 sub-characteristics including 40 inter quality characteristics. We developed software evaluation technique using the check list in accordance with the ISO/IEC 9126 in analysis phase. We evaluated the software quality in order to verify developing technique at S college. As a result of the evaluation, this college has found it necessary to maintain the software as soon as possible because academic systems are not adequate for users at this present time.

  • The characteristics of Korean women's foot shape were extracted by analyzing foot measurements. 14 measurements were measured from foot outline and 12 conventional measurements were taken on the right foot of 386 Korean women from 18 to 86 years. The results indicate that women's foot shape is changed with aging. The young subjects' feet were longer than the foot length of older subjects. The metamorphosis angle of the women over age 45 was greater than the measurement of women under age 45. The typical Korean women's foot shapes characterized by cluster analysis were (1) small foot with little deformity on great toe, (2) wide foot with big deformity on great toe, and (3) thick and narrow foot with moderate deformity on great toe. These results indicate that the foot height and the degree of deformity on great toe are needed to be considered in developing the shoe last for Korean women. The specialized shoe last needs to be developed for elderly.
