The Nuclear and Fossil Steam Turbines record a considerable number of failures annually. Some of these failures reported are as result of blade failure. The failure of the L-0 blade in a Steam Turbine is one of the most reported blade failure in Nuclear and Fossil steam turbines. This paper seeks to identify the best Non Destructive Evaluation (NDE) method or methods to be used in the steam turbine L-0 blades inspection process. The development of systems engineering processes presents an opportunity to apply NDE inspection to the L-0 blades. This process apply computer modelling of the L-0 using ANSYS and by simulating the stresses experienced by the L-0 blade during operation it is possible to identify the most susceptible areas for crack formation and growth. The results from these models compared to industry data for validation. The analysis of these results used to predict the most probable failure location and failure modes. Therefore NDE inspection can be applied to these areas with greater degree of accuracy. This would be beneficial in the increasing the accuracy in the detection of cracks and hence save inspection time and the overall inspection cost. Furthermore, not only the location for crack formation and NDE inspection determined but also best the NDE inspection technique/techniques to be applied appropriately on the L-0 blade are prescribed.

In general, the investigation for reservoir dredging are conducting a observation on the horizontal position and the depth of water by assembling GPS/Echo Sounder and Total Station/Echo Sounder, and it is computed at a section computation of riverbed, reservoir volume and dredging plan etc. at that times, the detail plane is determinated about soil volume, height for dredging. Planning has a fault that the method of sound detection using the Echo Sounder doesn't check up distribution of reservoir deposit. In this study, the author emphasizes that implementation of dredging with combined Global Positioning System(GPS) and Ground Penetration Radar(GPR) is well-done more than existed GPS/Echo Sounder. the combined equipment can be adapted to computation and dredging reffering to distribution of deposition. First of all, it is executed water tank modelling test through sampling for apply to test area and is estimated the possibility after passed far accuracy verification of equipment.

In this paper, we present an automatic image object tracking system for Studio cameras on the stage. For object tracking, we use the OpenCV-based Python program using PC, Raspberry Pi 3 and mobile devices. There are many methods of image object tracking such as mean-shift, CAMshift (Continuously Adaptive Mean shift), background modelling using GMM(Gaussian mixture model), template based detection using SURF(Speeded up robust features), CMT(Consensus-based Matching and Tracking) and TLD methods. CAMshift algorithm is very efficient for real-time tracking because of its fast and robust performance. However, in this paper, we implement an image object tracking system for studio cameras based CMT algorithm. This is an optimal image tracking method because of combination of static and adaptive correspondences. The proposed system can be applied to an effective and robust image tracking system for continuous object tracking on the stage in real time.
This paper focuses on monitoring and predicting the short circuit faults of the rotor windings of large turbo-generator systems. For the purpose of increasing efficiency and decreasing maintenance cost, a method that combines the HHT (Hilbert Huang Transform) with a wavelet has been studied. This method is based on analyzing a classical Albright detecting coil. Due to the Empirical Mode Decomposition (EMD) and the Intrinsic Mode Functions (IMF) of the HHT the exact location of a short circuit of rotor windings may be given. However, a part of the useful information is eliminated by the unreasonable decomposing scale of the wavelet. Based on the thermodynamics modeling method, this study was illustrated with a 50MW turbo-generator system that is installed in Northern China. The analysis results, which have very good agreement with those of a previous study, show that the method of combining the HHT with a wavelet is an effective way to analyze and predict the short circuit faults of the rotor windings of large generators, such as supercritical turbo-generator systems and wind turbo-generator systems. This work can offer a useful reference for analyzing smart grids by improving the power quality of a distribution network that is supplied by a turbo-generator system.
To correctly invert and interpret Surface Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (SNMR) data collected in conductive terrains, an accurate estimate of subsurface conductivity structure is required. Given such an estimate, it would be useful to determine, before conducting an SNMR sounding, whether or not the conductivity structure would prevent groundwater being detected. Using SNMR forward modelling, we describe a method of determining the depth range from which most of the SNMR signal originates, given a model of subsurface conductivity structure. We use the method to estimate SNMR depth penetration in a range of halfspace models and show that for conductive halfspaces ($<10{\Omega}.m$) the depth of penetration Is less than 50 m. It is also shown that for these halfspaces, increasing coincident loop size does not significantly improve depth penetration. The results can be used with halfspace approximations of more complicated ID conductivity structures to give a reasonable estimate of the depth range over which signal is obtainable in conductive terrains.

Cloud computing is now used by most companies, business centres and academic institutions to embrace new computer technology. Cloud Service Providers (CSPs) are limited to certain services, missing some of the assets requested by their customers, it means that different clouds need to interconnect to share resources and interoperate between them. The clouds may be interconnected in different characteristics and systems, and the network may be vulnerable to volatility or interference. While information technology and cloud computing are also advancing to accommodate the growing worldwide application, criminals use cyberspace to perform cybercrimes. Cloud services deployment is becoming highly prone to threats and intrusions. The unauthorised access or destruction of records yields significant catastrophic losses to organisations or agencies. Human intervention and Physical devices are not enough for protection and monitoring of cloud services; therefore, there is a need for more efficient design for cyber defence that is adaptable, flexible, robust and able to detect dangerous cybercrime such as a Denial of Service (DOS) and Distributed Denial of Service (DDOS) in heterogeneous cloud computing platforms and make essential real-time decisions for forensic investigation. This paper aims to develop a framework for digital forensic for the detection of cybercrime in a joined heterogeneous cloud setup. We developed a Digital Forensics model in this paper that can function in heterogeneous joint clouds. We used Unified Modeling Language (UML) specifically activity diagram in designing the proposed framework, then for deployment, we used an architectural modelling system in developing a framework. We developed an activity diagram that can accommodate the variability and complexities of the clouds when handling inter-cloud resources.
Electrical resistivity monitoring methods were adopted to detect groundwater table change in alluvium. Numerical modelling test using finite element method(FEM) and field resisfivity monitoring were conducted in the study. The field monitoring data were acquired in the alluvium deposit site in Jeong-Dong Ri, Geum River where pumping test had been conducted continuously for 20 days to make artificial changes of groundwater table. The unit distance of the electrode array was 4m and 21 fixed electrodes were applied in numerical calculation and field data acquisition. "Modified Wenner" and dipole-dipole array configurations were used in the study. The models used in two-dimensional numerical test were designed on the basis of the simplifving geological model of the alluvium in Jeong Dong Ri, Geum River. Numerical test results show that the apparent resistivity pseudosections were changed in the vicinity of the pootion where groundwater table was changed. Furthermore, there are some apparent resistivity changes in the boundary between aquifer and crystalline basement rock which overlays the aquifer. The field monitoring data also give similar results which were observed in numerical tests. From the numerical test using FEM and field resistivity monitoring observations in alluvium site of Geum River, the electrical monitoring method is proved to be a useful tool for detecting groundwater behavior including groundwater table change. There are some limitations, however, in the application of the resistivity method only because the change of groundwater table does not give enough variations in the apparent resistivity pseudosections to estimate the amount of groundwater table change. For the improved detection of groundwater table changes, it is desirable to combine the resistivity method with other geophysical methods that reveal the underground image such as high-resolution seismic and/or ground penetrating radar surveys.

Failure of small bore piping welds is a recurring problem at nuclear power plants. And the socket weld cracking in small bore piping has caused unplanned plant shutdowns for repair and high economic impact on the plants. Consequently, early crack detection, including the detection of manufacturing defects, is of the utmost importance. Until now, the surface inspection methods has been applied according to ASME Section XI requirements. But the ultrasonic inspection as a volumetric method is also applying to enforce the inspection requirement. However, the conventional manual ultrasonic inspection techniques are used to detect service induced fatigue cracks. And there was uncertainty on manual ultrasonic inspection because of limited access to the welds and difficulties with contact between the ultrasonic probe and the OD(outer diameter) surface of small bore piping. In this study, phased array ultrasonic inspection technique is applied to increase inspection speed and reliability. To achieve this object, the 3.5 MHz phased array ultrasonic transducer are designed and fabricated. The manually encoded scanner was also developed to enhance contact conditions and maintain constant signal quality. Additionally inspection system is configured and inspection procedure is developed.
The building process of any geological map involves linking sparse lithological outcrop information with equally sparse geometrical measurements, all in a single entity which is the preferred interpretation of the field geologist. The actual veracity of this interpretative map is partially dependent upon the frequency and distribution of geological outcrops compounded by the complexity of the local geology. Geophysics is commonly used as a tool to augment the distribution of data points, however it normally does not have sufficient geometrical constraints due to: a) all geophysical inversion models being inherently non-unique; and b) the lack of knowledge of the physical property contrasts associated with specific lithologies. This contribution proposes the combined use of geophysical edge detection routines and 'three point' solutions from topographic data as a possible approach to obtaining geological contact geometry information (strike and dip), which can be used in the construction of a preliminary geological model. This derived geological information should first be assessed for its compatibility with the scale of the problem, and any directly observed geological data. Once verified it can be used to help constrain the preferred geological map interpretation being developed by the field geologist. The method models the contacts as planar surfaces. Therefore, it must be ensured that this assumption fits the scale and geometry of the problem. Two examples are shown from folded sequences at the Bathurst Mining Camp, New Brunswick, Canada.

Red tide has caused massive fish kills in Korean coastal waters with devastating economic loss in the aquaculture industry since 1995. Remote sensing technique has shown to be effective for the detection of red tide in wide areas, where the absorption property of red tide water plays a central role in understanding the red tide reflectance. This study analyzed the optical absorption property of sea waters dominated by the dinoflagellate specie of Alexandirum affine, off the Tongyeong area in August, 2017. Water samples collected from 20 stations in the ship-based campaign were measured for absorption by pigment, suspended solid, and dissolved organic matter, with the corresponding water quality variables such as chlorophyll concentration and total suspended solid. The analysis showed that Alexandrium-dominated water exhibits strong absorption in the spectral range below 400 nm unlike that of diatom-dominated waters, and greater fluctuations in the range of 400 nm - 500 nm. The packaging effect in pigment absorption was stronger in Alexandrium-dominated waters, and the exponent in the absorption by detritus and gelbstoff is disparate for diatom and Alexandrium. In the model for the detritus and gelbstoff absorption (adg(λ)=adg(λ0)e-s(λ-λ0)), the optimal exponent coefficient(s) for the Alexandrium was close to 0.01 rather than to 0.015, which was commonly use for modelling diatom waters.
