Design of Reliable Adaptive Filter with Fault Tolerance Using TMS320C32 (TMS320C32를 이용한 고장허용을 갖는 신뢰 적응 필터 설계)

  • Adaptive filter algorithm has been used for plant identifier and noise cancellation. This algorithm has been researched for performance enhancement of filtering. The design and development of a reliable system has been becoming a key issue in industry field because the reliability of a system is considered as an important factor to perform the system's function successfully. And the computing with reliability and fault tolerance is a important factor in the case of aviation and nuclear plant. This paper presents design of reliable adaptive filter with fault tolerance. Generally, redundancy is used for reliability. In this case it needs computing or circuit for voting mechanism or computing for fault detection or switching part. But this presented Filter is not in need of computing for voting mechanism, or fault detection. Therefore it has simple computing, and practicality for application. And in this paper, reliability of adaptive filter is analyzed. The effectiveness of the proposed adaptive filter is demonstrated to the case studies of plant identifier and noise cancellation by using DSP.

Design and Fabrication of a Digital Protection Relay for Reverse-Open Phase (디지털 역결상 보호 계전기의 설계 및 제작)

  • Induction motors connected with a three-phase AC system may malfunction due to reverse phase or open phase faults. Conventional overcurrent relays and overheating relays are used to prevent such accidents; however, their drawbacks include a low response speed and false operation. Therefore, in this study, a digital relay for the reverse-open phase was designed and fabricated. This relay can detect the reverse phase and open phase faults and send a trigger signal to the control circuit. The proposed relay was developed based on a microcontroller. The detection times of the reverse phase and open phase were verified as 320ms and 80ms, respectively. Compared with conventional relays that only protect the motor from one type of fault, the proposed relay can detect both, reverse phase and open phase faults. In addition, the fault detection, identification criterion, and trigger signal patterns can be modified by programming according to the requirements of users.

  • A high detection efficiency thermal neutron detector based on the 6LiF/ZnS(Ag) scintillation screens, wavelength-shifting fibers (WLSF) and Silicon photomultiplier (SiPM) readout is under development at China Spallation Neutron Source (CSNS) for the Engineering Material Diffractometer (EMD).A prototype with a sensitive volume of 180mm×192mm has been built. Signals from SiPMs are processed by the self-design Application Specific Integrated Circuit (ASIC). The performances of this detector prototype are as follows: neutron detection efficiency could reach 50.5% at 1 Å, position resolution of 3, the dark count rate <0.1Hz, the maximum count rate >200KHz. Such detector prototype could be an elementary unit for applications in the EMD detector arrays.

  • Article 325 (Prevention of Fire Explosion due to Electrostatic) of the Rule for Occupational Safety and Health Standard specifies that in order to prevent the risk of disasters caused by static electricity, fire, explosion and static electricity in the production process, However, in order to do this, it is absolutely necessary to use a pre-detection technology and a detector for antistatic discharge prediction, which is a precautionary measure by static electricity in a fire / explosion hazard place, but in Korea, And there is no technical standard for the application of the technology of the explosion proof structure of the related equipment. Research methods include domestic and overseas electrostatic discharge detection technology and literature investigation of related equipment explosion proofing technology, domestic and foreign electrostatic discharge detection device production and use situation investigation, advanced foreign technology data analysis and benchmarking. In particular, we sought to verify the results of empirical experiments using electrostatic discharge detection technology through sample purchase and analysis of related major products, development of optimization technology through prototype production, evaluation, and supplementation, and expert knowledge through expert consultation. The results of this study were developed and fabricated two prototypes of electrostatic discharge detector based on the technology / standard related to electrostatic discharge detection technology in Korea and abroad through development of electrostatic discharge detection technology and development and production of detector. In addition, based on the development of electrostatic discharge detection technology, we developed an intrinsic safety explosion proof ib class explosion proof technology applicable to the process of using and handling flammable gas and flammable liquid vapor and combustible dust. In the case of the over voltage and minimum voltage are supplied to the explosion-proof structure ESD detector, check the state of the circuit and the transient and transient currents generated by the coil and capacitor elements during the input and standby of the signal pulse voltage. Explosion-proof equipment-Part 11: Intrinsically safe explosion proof structure The comparative evaluation with the reference curve in Annex A of "i" confirms that the characteristics of the intrinsically safe explosion protection structure are met.

Development of Position Encoding Circuit for a Multi-Anode Position Sensitive Photomultiplier Tube (다중양극 위치민감형 광전자증배관을 위한 위치검출회로 개발)

  • Purpose: The goal of this paper is to present the design and performance of a position encoding circuit for $16{\times}16$ array of position sensitive multi-anode photomultiplier tube for small animal PET scanners. This circuit which reduces the number of readout channels from 256 to 4 channels is based on a charge division method utilizing a resistor array. Materials and Methods: The position encoding circuit was simulated with PSpice before fabrication. The position encoding circuit reads out the signals from H9500 flat panel PMTs (Hamamatsu Photonics K.K., Japan) on which $1.5{\times}1.5{\times}7.0\;mm^3$ $L_{0.9}GSO$ ($Lu_{1.8}Gd_{0.2}SiO_{5}:Ce$) crystals were mounted. For coincidence detection, two different PET modules were used. One PET module consisted of a $29{\times}29\;L_{0.9}GSO$ crystal layer, and the other PET module two $28{\times}28$ and $29{\times}29\;L_{0.9}GSO$ crystal layers which have relative offsets by half a crystal pitch in x- and y-directions. The crystal mapping algorithm was also developed to identify crystals. Results: Each crystal was clearly visible in flood images. The crystal identification capability was enhanced further by changing the values of resistors near the edge of the resistor array. Energy resolutions of individual crystal were about 11.6%(SD 1.6). The flood images were segmented well with the proposed crystal mapping algorithm. Conclusion: The position encoding circuit resulted in a clear separation of crystals and sufficient energy resolutions with H9500 flat-panel PMT and $L_{0.9}GSO$ crystals. This circuit is good enough for use in small animal PET scanners.

  • LAPS is a device which is dependent on the bias potential between a pH sensitivity and alternating photocurrent. We implemented the multichannel LAPS device and the detection system which was able to effectively measure the sensor's output by a synchronized detection circuit and multiple methods. The implemented LAPS was structured the multiple sensing sites for analyzing a various components simultaneously. And the system included a time-division method using one pre-amplifier being able to detect the multichannel pH concentration preserving a high S/N ratio and a control part. System hardware consists of a pre-amplifier, digital unit and sensor unit, and software consists of a system program and PC program. As results, we verified the successful operations of system including an implemented pre-amplifier and signal processing units.

  • Generally, Permanent Magnet Brushless DC Motor(PM BLDC) is necessary the Hall-IC to detect the rotor position. But it will take place the operation standstill of motor or error of rotor position detection according to the circumference temperature, humidity, or limited surroundings. This paper propose the algorithm of rotor position detection only using one or two Hall-IC. Therefore we can estimate information of the others phase in sequence through a rotor instead of using three Hall-IC at 3 phase motor. This paper identify the same characteristics, performance and function of protection circuit by the proposed algorithm with the 3 phase PM BLDC motor in comparison with general method.

  • This paper presents a tunable band pass filter (BPF) for multi bio-signal detection. The bandwidth can be controlled by the bias current of transconductance (gm), while conventional BPF exploited switchable capacitor array for band selection. With this design technique, the die area of proposed BPF reduced to at least one tenth the area of conventional design. The simulation results show the high cut-off frequency tuning range of from 100Hz to 1Khz. The circuit was implemented with a 0.18um CMOS standard technology. Total current consumption is 1uA at the supply voltage of 1V with sub-threshold design technique.

  • This paper describes a new simple QRS detection algorithm using index function based on resonance theory. The ECG signal can be modeled with several sinusoidal pulses and its first difference has some relations with the amplitude and frequency of sinusoidal pulse. Based on above fact, an index function, similar to the square of the imaginary part of a simple R-L-C circuit, was designed. A QRS complex is detected by applying the adaptive method to the response of index function. The algorithm showed a performance comparable to or higher than the other algorithms. Because it does not require any complicated preprocessing or postprocessing, it can be implemented in real time.

  • A prototype liquid scillatillator system for measurement of multiple beta-labeled mixtures was developed and its characteristic was investigated. The signal processing system consists of two photomultiplier tubes and the coincident count circuit. The characteristic of the system was analyzed using 4 beta-labeled samples $(^3H,\;^{14}C,\;^{36}Cl\;and\;^{90}Sr)$. Beta spectra from the samples were obtained without radiation shielding, and the detection limits for each nuclides were estimated based on the spectra. The estimated detection limits were compared to the legal regulation values. It is found that the liquid radioactive nuclides are detectable well below the legal regulation values.
