The purpose of this study was to investigate the antique chair style in Korean market. The examined objects were 235 chairs in selected 30 antique shops dealing with curios in Seoul from July 16 to August 23 in 2002. The results of this study was as follows Antique chairs in Korean market are revival style and eclectic style. The revival style are copied or transformed period style antique chairs. The eclectic style are chairs newly designed by mixing of 2 or 3 different types period style antique-chairs. Rococo-revival style were the most prevalent following Renaissance style chairs in the market. In case of chair back and legs the Classic revival style are made by copying and transforming the Klismos, Hepplewhite, Sheraton, which is a neo-classic style. The Gothic revival style are copied or transformed finial, foil, crocket and tracery which is the Gothic architectural decoration. In Renaissance revival style. Elizabeth, slat, caned, padded, yorkshire, bobbin turned, William & Mary are copied and transformed for the chair back. In Rococo-revival style, LouisXV, Queen Anne, Chippendale of Rococo-style- chair back and cabriole legs are copied or transformed. In the eclectic style, Classic style chair back with Renaissance-style legs or Rococo style chair back with Renaissance style legs are combined as a periodical eclectic style. In this manner now style of chair back and the periodical style of legs were used together as a new eclectic style chair.

Modern art has had a great impact on the concepts and the formal attributes of modern landscape design. This study aimed at examining the origins of modern landscape design languages especially in relation to the influence of find art during the modernist age. The formal reductionism of Cubistic paintings finally lead to the formulation of Geometrical Abstractionism which became the basic formal model for ˝Regular Style˝; one of the representative modern landscape style. This Regular Style is mostly based on the formal structure of ´Grids´, which was developed by many landscape designer like Eckbo, Kley and Halprin. On the other hand, the ´Bio-morphic Form´ originally used in Surrealistic Art became the formal model for ˝Organic Style˝; the other representative modern landscape style, developed mostly by the landscape designers like Church, Burle-Mark and Bye. Thus, ´Grids´ and ´Bio-morphic Form´ became the dual icons of modern art and modern landscape design. Although these modern landscape design styles were ground breaking departure from the conventional formal/informal tradition and expanded possibilities in formal experimentations, They also produced several crucial limitations originated from the scientific reductionism and autonomous aesthetics of modern art, like the physical and cultural discontinuation from surrounding environments and the formal alienation from the real life world, which gave rise to the emergence of post-modern thinking of landscape design.

The pixel art style evolved from the shortcomings of computer image display technology has gradually transformed from a technical limitation into a widely recognized form of artistic expression since development in the early 20th century. This study analyzes the application and characteristics of the expandability of pixel art style design content in sub industries such as physical goods, environmental design, website design, digital art and illustration in the design field. It aims to explore the visual expression and sustainable development form of pixel art style under the development of new media technology that contradicts traditional technological concepts. The research results show that although the pixel art style generally pursues external visual features such as pixelated visual effects, sawtooth and matrix arrangements, its expansion in the art field shows a unique diversity of visual expressions. It has become an important means to convey nostalgic emotions and cultural values. Through this research, we hope to inspire more academic researchers and technology practitioners to explore the development potential of the pixel art style in emerging fields and promote its innovative application in design practice.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the Avant-garde's aesthetic values and expressoinal characteristic, and to find out(analysis) the design characteristic of Avant garde fashion since 1995. Expressoinal characteristics of Avant garde with the anti-aesthetic, radically pursuing newness, and open mind, are revealed dynamism, hostile innovation, and experimentalism. Futuristic images expressed in dynamism represent space style, body conscious style, cyborg style, kinetic style, and primitive style. And deconstructional images related to hostile innovation show punk style, grunge style, humor style, and abstractive style. Also surreal images related to experimentalism hold erotic style, depasemant style, deformation style, and collage style. The proper usage of newness offers the escape, the vividness, and the humour from the fatigue of the life and so, it is expected to offer the chance of transfering the active individuals and societies directly or indirectly By analyzing the instances for the images of avant-garde fashion since 1995, the contribution about the expectation of the design trends of the present and future is expected.

The wide range of understanding on form, function and style are very important in design practice. Because any design can't be existed without form and function and, also, every design can be embodied by the style. From this point of view, the new interpretation and their relations on form, function and style are studied in this paper. First of all, 1-In Introduction, a few issues are suggested to the purpose and requirement with explaining the background of the paper. 2-Design Form; original form, hand-made form, standard form and expressive form are researched. 3-Design Function; original function. traditional function, absolute function and relative function are studied. 4-Design Style; survival style, folk style, simple style and fusion style are searched. Finally, 5-In Conclusion, the approach method is expressed on form, function and style, and their relations are discussed.

Recently many TV have much interest in Network Design to get an advantage in the competition of the multi channels as part of the channel brand strategy. Since the Network Design was introduced in Korea in 1997, the major cable channels and satellite channels began to display Network Design on their screen competitively. But the production of Network Design has many problems in the field due to the lack of research information. The style guide is considered very important to succeed in Network Design execution as an indispensible process for a consistent planning and concrete production. This paper studied the Network Design Style Guide to establish a theoretical system of Network Design for a TV channel image promotion. First, this paper discussed the concept of Network Design and the necessity of the Network Design Style Guide, Second, this paper systemized the main component through the case study of the Network Design Style Guide and defined the concept of each element.

Style have been changing by the situations and the background of contemporary politics, society and economics, and which influence significantly to create new forms. Since the style of ART DECOC 1929s -1930s) has been studied with main reference to its cause and motivation, it is known that the style of ART DECO is one that has given $$\mu$h potential and chance to the development of interior design.In the study, it was focussed on to study on interior design, architecture, funiture, etc. in America where ART DECO had been once successful in his career. This study examines the prati fashion style. prati fashion refers to a practical fashion, the most sought-after trend and newest fashion concept. This trend emerged as a response to the trio of minimalism, the recent economic downturn and the modern life style, and has led to powerful fashion lines and items. Therefore, this study is to understand and analyze the prati fashion style, with its focus on the 2010 modern fashion collection that embodied functional, economic, and minimal styles. First, the functional style realized by new materials provides comfort and allows multi-style changes. Second, the minimal style adds detailed changes to minimal silhouettes. Finally the economic style means easy to wear and easy to match items at affordable prices. The analyses stated above found that the prati fashion brought about a new paradigm to society, and influenced social, cultural and economic aspects of our daily life. It also helped find solutions to economic problems of this era. Drawing global attention, the prati fashion has functional, design and economic values, and thereby influences the shift of market paradigm.

The purpose of this study is to provide basic information to Korean fashion designers who wish to advance to the overseas collection. This is done through analyzing the design characteristics of Japanese young fashion designers, Tsumori Chisato, Commuun, and Limi Feu, who have successfully launched their designs into the Paris collection and became global fashion brands. Collections of each brand were analyzed by the overall fashion style and design elements. For the overall fashion style, Tsumori Chisato used a romantic style using details with various ornaments, whereas Commuun shows minimal style with a simple silhouette. Limi Feu expressed avant-garde style with experimental patterns. Moreover, these brands expressed different style to other brands by applying Japanese traditional clothes, patterns, and Japanese techniques in modern view point. In terms of design elements, these three brands used the H-line silhouette. Tsumori Chisato used loose fit; Commuun, slim line; and Limi Feu, boxy silhouette. In the case of colors, materials, patterns and details, Tsumori Chisato showed mix & match with various colors, materials, patterns and details. Commuun used mono tone with black & white using only one or two materials. Limi Feu usually used the color black with cotton. According to the style of the brand and region of the collection, the main characteristics of the design and the application of Japanese traditional elements can be different.

Many housing alternatives and design guidelines for the elderly have been suggested along with the rapid increase of old persons. However, most of them focused on the spatial composition and fixtures. They do not address on interior style which affects on interior mood. The interior style is especially important to the elderly who spend most of their time in indoor space, such as housing unit or nursing home. On the base of these backgrounds, the purpose of this study is to examine what interior style of bedroom and living room where the elderly lives are and whether they are significantly different depending on their cognitive ages, or not. The subject were 202 old persons who lived in Busan. Their ages were more than 65 years. They were interviewed by using 3D images of bedroom and living room. Each one consisted of three interior styles; Korean traditional style, Western classical style, and modern style. The results were as followings; The interior style of bedroom and living room which the old persons lived were different depending on the elderly's cognitive ages. The younger the old persons' cognitive ages were, they lived in bedroom or living room of modern style. Also, the older their cognitive ages were, they lived in bedroom or living room of Korean traditional style. These results show that the cognitive age of the old persons affect the characteristics of interior design which they live. Also, it implies that the elderly are not one homogeneous group, but a heterogeneous one.
