PLC 시뮬레이션을 이용한 자동차 조립 라인 설계 (Design of a Vehicle Assembly Line Using PLC Simulation)

  • Auto-makers can only remain competitive by producing high quality vehicles in an efficient way. In designing a production line, one of the most important objectives of digital manufacturing is to verify design errors as early as possible. In terms of the cost and time saving, it is very essential to start the construction of a production line with a proven design which is error-free. Likewise, this paper aims to implement PLC verification using an example. The verification in automobile manufacturing means verifying PLC program, which control automatic devices. In this paper, we built a virtual factory to implement PLC simulation and introduced verification procedure using PLC Studio. Finally, we can prove the availability for the PLC verification.

Conceptual Clothing Design Process Using Cooperative Learning Strategies: Senior Clothing Design Class

  • This paper identified the source of inspiration to cooperatively design a fashion collection from US undergraduate clothing design students and addressed how to implement team-based learning strategy to conceptual clothing design in class. Data was collected from the total of 51 students in a senior clothing design course at a large 4-year university in the US. The assigned project for this class was to develop a group collection under a same theme. Each student worked with his/her team member(s) to create an outfit and the entire class worked as a group to create a cohesive collection. The study showed that the sources of inspiration for the themes/concepts came from 11categories: historic era/old Hollywood glamour, shape/line/structure/architectural, fairy tales movies, nature/abstract, circus/mysterious, occasion/place, object, designer/artist, futuristic, culture, and various movies. To implement cooperative learning strategies in the clothing design class, a total of five class presentation/discussion sessions were held for theme/concept decision, fabric decision, design decision, test garment evaluation and design modification, and final products. Throughout the design process, team-based learning strategy promoted students' engagement and participation and inspired their critical thinking skills for making decisions within a team.

수평형 5축 자기 베어링 시스템 설계 (A Design of Horizontal-Type 5DOF Magnetic Bearing System)

  • In this paper, a design of horizontal-type 5DOF magnetic bearing is presented. To implement the non-contact bearing, an active magnetic bearing using electromagnet is used and finite element method(FEM) is chosen to design the bearing magnet. Two radial bearing and one thrust bearing is designed to implement 5DOF operation. And three-phase induction motor is used as a driving motor. The design method for the magnetic bearing system is described.

  • As the IT industry rapidly progresses, the functions of electronic devices and display devices are integrated with high density, and the model is changed in a short period of time. To implement the integration technology, a uniform micro-pattern implementation technique to drive and control the product is required. The most important technology for the micro pattern generation is the exposure processing technology. Failure to implement the basic pattern in this process cannot satisfy the demands in the manufacturing field. In addition, the conventional exposure method of the mask method cannot cope with the small-scale production of various types of products, and it is not possible to implement a micro-pattern, so an alternative technology must be secured. In this study, the technology to implement the required micro-pattern in semiconductor processing is presented through the photolithography process and plasma etching.

창의적 컴퓨팅 산출물 기반 알고리즘 교육 방법 (Educational Method of Algorithm based on Creative Computing Outputs)

  • 비전공 학부생을 대상으로 다양한 방식의 SW 교육이 대학별로 운영되고 있다. 그리고 대부분 컴퓨팅적 사고를 교육하는 데 초점을 맞추고 있다. 이러한 컴퓨팅 교육에 이어서 학생들마다 창의적인 컴퓨팅 산출물을 구현하고 평가하는 교육 방식이 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 창의적 컴퓨팅 산출물 기반 SW교육을 실현하는 한 가지 방안을 제안한다. 이를 위해 학생들이 디지털논리회로 장치를 창의적으로 구현하고, 이 장치의 기능을 구현하는 SW알고리즘을 디자인하는 교육방법을 제안한다. 제안한 교육 방법에서는 아두이노 보드를 사용한 간단한 LED 논리회로를 예로 들어 교육한다. 학생들은 2변수 논리회로 출력장치 두 쌍을 창의적으로 설계 및 구현하고, 구현한 장치의 패턴을 나타내는 알고리즘을 다양한 형태로 설계한다. 그리고 입력장치를 이용한 기능 확장 및 확장된 알고리즘을 설계한다. 제안한 교육방법을 적용하면, 비전공 학생들이 창의적 컴퓨팅 산출물 제작을 통해 알고리즘 설계의 개념과 필요성을 습득하는 성과를 얻을 수 있다.

Fault-Tolerant Analysis of Redundancy Techniques in VLSI Design Environment

  • The advent of very large scale integration(VLSI) has had a tremendous impact on the design of fault-tolerant circuits and systems. The increasing density, decreasing power consumption, and decreasing costs of integrated circuits, due in part to VLSI, have made it possible and practical to implement the redundancy approaches used in fault-tolerant computing. The purpose of this paper is to study the many aspects of designing fault-tolerant systems in a VLSI environment. First, we expound upon the opportunities and problems presented by VLSI technology. Second, we consider in detail the importance of design mistakes, common-mode failures, and transient faults in VLSI. Finally, we examine the techniques available to implement redundancy using VLSI and the promlems associated with these techniques.

  • Introduction of PLM in domestic shipyards is being retarded as ship PLM has yet to firm up return of investment and process integration. To implement a ship PLM system, it is required to share ship CAD model data in various design and manufacturing environments. Lightweight CAD models provide a promising solution for sharing CAD models in the product life cycle, which can expedite implementation of ship PLM in domestic shipyards in the near future. Compared to proprietary CAD models, it is easy for lightweight CAD models to be interfaced with various application systems and be connected to manufacturing information. In this paper, the reason why lightweight CAD models are necessary to implement a ship PLM system is addressed and current implementation results are introduced.

자동화 시스템의 관리제어 설계를 위한 새로운 모듈화 기법 (New Modularization Method to Design Supervisory Control of Automated Laboratory Systems)

  • This paper describes the application of discrete event systems theory to the design of an automated laboratory system. Current automated laboratory systems typically consist of several interacting processes that must be carefully sequenced to avoid any possible process conflicts. Discrete Event Systems (DES) theory and Supervisory Control Theory (SCT) can be applied together as effective methods of modeling the system dynamics and designing supervisory controllers to precisely sequence the many processes that such systems might involve. Classical approaches to supervisory controller design tend to result in complex controller structures that are difficult to implement, maintain, and upgrade. In this paper, a new approach to designing supervisory controllers for automated laboratory systems is introduced. This new approach uses a modular controller structure that is easier to implement, maintain, and upgrade, and deals with "state explosion" issues in a novel and efficient way.
