Adaptive Slicing with Curvature Considerations

  • In this paper, first order slice height calculation in Laminated Object Manufacturing (LOM) of free form surfaces is done with two different considerations: that a) the cutter trajectory is oriented in the direction of local absolute maximum more in number when compared to the case where the cutter trajectory is contained in the normal vertical section (NVS). However, it would help in achieving higher form accuracy of the final part because it would be a form of worst-case check. For the second proposed strategy, least number of slices results, thereby reducing overall build time drastically.

  • When considering the use of rapid prototyping (RP), there are many issues a designer has to address for handling an STL model, the de facto standard fur RP. Today designers can skip all these issues by visiting web-based service bureaus that readily supply needed information for the RP services. Since orders are taken for RP parts through the web page of service providers designers are now asked to upload their STL files to the company server either by direct upload, ftp file transfer, or as an e-mail attachment. If the service bureau, however, fixes or edits an STL filceto optimize the RP process but neglects to tell its customer about the rework in detail, it may cause problems down the line in processing of the original CAD data for other applications. In this paper, we propose a framework for a collaborative virtual environment between CAD designers and RP processes on the internet which directly provides designers with an advanced preprocessor functionality, design visualization, as well as model display, repair, and slicing over the network. This can help smooth data transfer from CAD to RP process with minimum inconsistency in CAD.

  • The flexible multibody dynamic model of an EMS-type Maglev vehicle is necessary in design stage to predict its behavior, load history and levitation performance. Especially in EMS-type Maglev vehicle, the body flexibility of its bogie with electromagnets affects the levitation performance because its feedback control system is more sensitive to vibration of bogie structure. The flexible multibody dynamic model of a 1/2 Maglev vehicle under test is presented. The basic modeling procedure is almost the same as in other applications. However, the feedback control system model unique in EMS-type maglev vehicle must be included in the model. With the model proposed in this study, the dynamic behavior, load history and levitation performance are more precisely predicted. This model could realize the virtual prototyping in EMS-type Maglev vehicle area.

  • 가상 프로토타입(Virtual Prototyping: VP) 방법론을 이용하면 내장형 시스템을 설계하고 구현할 때에 비용을 절감하면서 제품의 개발기간을 단축할 수 있다. VP는 S/W component, H/W component 그리고 S/W 와 H/W를 연결하는 Interface component로 구성되어 진다. VP의 구성 요소중 H/W component를 구현하는 방법은 여러 가지가 있었으나 시스템 명세 언어로부터는 하드웨어 컴포넌트로 구현하는 방법을 고려하고자한다. 그러나 시스템 명세 언어로부터 생성된 H/W component 용 VHDL 코드는 항상 합성 가능한 코드라고 할 수 없다. 본 논문에선 시스템 명세 언어로부터 검증을 용이하게 하는 하드웨어 구현을 위하여 명세언어로써 SpecCharts를 이용하고 이로부터 동기적 의미론을 만족하는 합성 가능한 VHDL 코드를 생성하는 방법론을 제시한다.

  • In any rapid prototyping process, the layer by layer building process introduces an area error between the staircase and the surface line specified by the computer-aided design model. This affects the dimensional accuracy as well as the surface finish for different part build orientations. This paper describes a methodology for computing the area error for any orientation of the part built by the fused deposition modelling system. This technique can be applied to determine the best build orientation of the part, based on the minimum area error. This technique is verified by comparing the results with the experimental measurements of the area error of the parts built at different orientations.

  • Recently, many ECUs(Electronic Control Units) have been used to enhance the vehicle safety, which leads to a distributed real-time control system. The distributed real-time control system requires to reduce the network delay for dependable real-time performance. There are two different paradigms by which a network protocol operates: event-triggered and time-triggered. This paper focuses on implementation of a time-triggered protocol. i.e. TTP/C(Time-Triggered Protocol/class C). This paper presents a design method of TTP control network and performance evaluation of distributed real-time control system using TTP protocol.

  • As make a simulator including user interface functions like start & stop, load parameters, record and save, view 3D display has a real-like length and numerical value of sizes, represent real-shape of inner and outer part of robot, make the possible fast and slow selective observation as a adjust a step, receiving the images through the image device which attached in robot, so make a motion tester simulator of humanoid robot which coded by windows based GUI(Graphic User Interface) program with a MMI(Man Machine Interface) function that user can watch the environment which included robot and use a images. For implement this, we use a design data that converted data which made by use a CAD for Laser RP(Rapid Prototyping) progress into C coding for simulator programming. Using OpenGL, an API of graphic, it has a efficiency and detail of graphic operation. To make and test animation data, it has the option of save and resume in animation.

  • A new small humanoid robot system is developed in this paper. The humanoid robot has total 20 DOFs : 6 DOFs in each legs, 3 DOFs in each arms, and 2 DOFs in head, 34cms in height, and 2kgs in weight. The robot has the following characteristics: (1) PDA as host controller (2) network-based joint controller (3) wireless camera attached in robot's head (4) mechanism design by CATIA and high speed laser prototyping (5) graphic MMI(Man-Machine Interface) utilizing the CATIA data. By using ADXL inclination sensor, we implement the rope swing with the robot leg motion as well as walking.

  • Laser additive direct deposition of metals is a new rapid manufacturing technology, which combines with computer aided design, laser cladding and rapid prototyping. The advanced technology can build fully-dense metal components directly from CAD files with neither mould nor tool. Based on the theory of this technology, a promising rapid manufacturing system called "Laser Metal Deposition Shaping (LMDS)" is being developed significantly. The microstructure and mechanical properties of the LMDS-formed samples are tested and analyzed synthetically. As a result, significant processing flexibility with the LMDS system over conventional processing capabilities is recognized, with potentially lower production cost, higher quality components, and shorter lead time.

  • 본 논문에서는 기존 레거시 웨어러블 기기들을 활용한 CE기기들의 제어 방법을 분석하고 개선 필요 사항들을 도출하였다. 이러한 선행 연구들에서는 추가적인 웨어러블 형태의 기기들을 착용해야만하고, 제어 명령 전송 등을 위한 특정 공간으로 이동해야만 하는 단점이 존재하였다. 이러한 문제점들을 해결하기 위해, 본 논문에서는 일반적인 스마트와치 형태의 웨어러블 기기를 활용하여, 기기를 제어할 수 있는 새로운 형태의 웨어러블 프레임워크를 제안하였다. 이를 통해, 스마트홈 서비스와 효과적으로 연계할 수 있는 시스템 구조와 제안 시스템의 효율성 검증 실험 결과를 소개하도록 한다.
